To wrap up our American Idol audition tour, we were treated to the standard Best and Worst show. It was fast, hectic and finally featured mean Simon.
First up was Luke Reeder, going through his version of "Faith" by George Michael. Simon Cowell told him it was slightly mad, from the massive t-shirt to the eyes. Then we were off to Victor Villegas. Randy Jackson compared him to a sheep with his voice. Simon agreed that it was like an animal. Random Thought #1: Have they heard Elliot Yamin's "Wait For You?" While I like the song, Elliot makes Elmer Fudd sound good. His warble made Victor sound normal by comparison.
Amy Davis, who is part Japanese on her mother's side, was hoping to change her family's future. Her mother was po' (that's when you're too po' to afford the last two letters by the way) and worked two jobs to support her six kids. Random Thought #2: Perhaps she should have worked a smidge harder for birth control, it's cheaper than the extra kids. Amy wants to pay her mother back for all her hard work. Randy liked the possibility of the vocals with her, but she needs to work on the nerves. Amy gets to try it out in Hollywood.
Tiffany McCambell has been singing in her church choir. The Holy Spirit told her to come to the audition. Her pastor says her voice is maturing. She thinks she's unique and says God gave her the gift of singing. She tells Simon that as well before she sings. Simon told her that if he was given that he'd give it back. Randy disagrees, saying you can't give it back. Simon then decides that he would lose it instead because it's not the best present in the world. Random Thought #3: I think her pastor needs to have a serious talk with The Holy One about white lies still being lies.
We get a montage of all the duo's we've had so far this season. This leads to a love triangle with Cory and Chris Lane, who are twin brothers. They have the same girlfriend, Ashley Lawing, who is also there to audition. Ashley started dating Chris first, then Cory started calling her behind his brother's back. Now she's been with Cory for a year. Cory and Chris try to do a rap, but can't remember the lyrics. I got bored and fast forwarded to the next section. Ashley comes in with her 6 week old Pomeranian puppy. Simon loves the puppy and wants to steal it. Ashley tells him he can have anything he wants if she puts him through to Hollywood. Random Thought #4: She looks slutty enough to fulfil that promise too. Outside, one of the twins is saying that Ashley isn't as good as she thinks she is. Back inside, Simon tells her it was torture. She says he's lying. Outside with the twins, they say they just told her that her voice was good to get her to come to the audition.
Cardin Lee McKinney from Tennessee is up next. Simon thinks she's too theatrical and doesn't see her as a contemporary recording artist. Paula Abdul likes her mature voice. Randy agrees, so Cardin moves on.
JoAnne Borgella is a plus size model. She likes that she can represent the average sized woman. She sang the national anthem at Madison Square Garden before. Paula just loves JoAnne and her tone. She thinks that JoAnne sings effortlessly. Randy thought it was a bit odd that voice coming out of her though. Simon says no, but Paula and Randy liked her so she moves on. After she leaves, Simon says that JoAnne was a nice girl. Random Thought #5: I thought her voice was good and I don't normally disagree with Simon. I wonder what he heard in the room that didn't translate.
Alesha Stelzl has been singing since she was 8. She says she's unique and not like anyone else. Random Thought #6: Doesn't "unique" mean "not like anyone else"? So why does everyone seem to have this need to define what they meant by "unique"? She sings, badly, and Simon asks her what happens when she sings publically. Alesha says everyone likes it and she gets their attention. Simon thinks it was terrible and he couldn't recognize the song. Paula didn't think it was dreadful, but that she has a Dolly Parton sort of tone. Simon tells her to go off and learn a Dolly Parton song. After the commercial, Alesha comes back having learned "Islands in the Stream" (after some helpful hints from Ryan Seacrest). Paula and Randy liked it, they put her through to Hollywood. After she leaves, Simon says he hates to admit it but they were right. He was really disappointed that it didn't have the ending he wanted. Random Thought #7: WHAT were they thinking? She can't sing. She's a one-trick pony. If she ends up being the bad singer this time around, this is all Paula's fault!
We were quickly treated to Brandi Gregorie, who did a weird striptease for Simon. This was followed by Charles Randy Leviner, who sweared his way through his song. Simon told him that when they put the show on at 3 in the morning he can come on.
Joshua Moreland was up next. He has his own stage name already - JaySmoove. He says he has the wow factor. He sings his own original song "Beautiful Lady." Randy pointed out that Jay likes to go up high. Simon thought it was corny and revolting. He gets no votes from all. Random Thought #8: I thought he was better than Alesha, the one-trick pony! Still not Hollywood bound, but out of the two, I'd put him in - not her. After Joshua leaves, the floor needs to be swept. He threw some stuff in the air (glitter, flowers, etc) that needed to be swept up. Simon made Ryan come in to clean it up. Ryan made fun of Simon, so Simon decided to do it (to look good for the camera). Simon tries, but doesn't really understand how it all works.
This leads to a montage of Simon not being able to remember names. Though in Simon's defense many of the names were weird. Speaking of weird names, this brings us to Chikezie Eze, who auditioned last year, but they "weren't feeling him." Simon isn't sure that his voice is that interesting. Paula thinks he is interesting and talented. Chikezie makes it through to Hollywood this time around. Random Thought #9: Dusty and I have come up with both the title for Chikezie's first album and the first single. Album title: "Eze Listening" First single: an updated cover of The Eagles "Take It Eze" featuring Timbaland.
Last up was Danny Noriega who buckled under the pressure last year. He thinks it happened to him to give him the experience to come back and win it. Simon thought he sounded more confident this year. Paula didn't expect that voice to come out of him. Danny gets another shot to make it all the way.
Next week we are finally up to Hollywood Week - where we will see the more talented hopefuls getting to use their other talents - like playing instruments.
I must admit that my area has been represented well in the past. Chris Daughtry and Fantasia are both from the triad area. But when my small hometown of Kernersville is finally, shockingly, represented on American Idol, it is the twin freaks. OH THE SHAME! I apologize to all. At least the bimbette was from another NC town.
I will never be able to watch Three's Company again....
If you can't be a good example, then be a horrible warning!

Public Service Message:
DO NOT buy 6-week-old puppies! This is your first hint that the breeder is disreputable. No puppy should leave its mother until it is at least 8 weeks of age. IF you are bone-headed enough to buy an underage puppy, DO NOT take it out in public until it has had at least one set of shots at least two weeks prior to being out in public!
(have I mentioned that we do animal rescue? The dog in the picture was one of our first rescue puppies over five years ago)

I ditto your sentiments! We live on a farm so we have a lot of cats (I tell people that out here you either have cats or rats - as my cousin who hates cats and scared all of the cats away from his house found out). People drop them off all the time, many of them get killed because people drop them off on the road just down from the house thinking they'll find their way to the house. Over the summer, we spent about 2 hours getting a total of 9 cats and kittens out of the soybean field. So we end up with a lot of kittens that I have to find homes for (we've got nearly all of our males fixed now, so we're getting better). I can't tell you the number of people I get out here who say "I was hoping for something smaller" or "they're 12 weeks old already?". These are the people who are looking for snake food or bait for dog fights. I do give them away for free still, but I'm VERY particular about who gets them. I had one couple fall in love with a 4 week old kitten who hadn't really gotten into dry food yet. They wanted him and just couldn't understand that he was too young.

Well gang, I liked Amy, Cardin and Danny, the little gay guy with the big voice. All three are terrific, I don't know about the stage presence and marketablility, but I loved their voices. Plus, Amy and Cardin are SMOKIN'
Its hard for me to predict who will made in the top 24.
But i really hope that will do well and by the way did you
notice something in next weeks in the hollywood round
simon and paula for the first time this season is fighting
and i have to say is very nasty.
And also they have a twist in the hollywood rounds some of the competitiors is using instruments i dont know if this is an unfair advantage to the other competitors however i think these gona be very intense competition.
Don't mind me, I'm just a guest.
