Tonight on So You Think You Can Dance we saw the final performances of the top four dancers. Host Cat Deeley tells us that tonight will be a little different as everyone will dance with everyone. Yes that means Twitch dances with Joshua and Courtney dances with Katee. Let's hope Twitch & Joshua don't draw a Tango.
Our guest judge tonight is Mandy Moore.
The first dancing pair is Courtney & Twitch, who perform a Tabitha & Napoleon Hip Hop routine to "Church" by T-Pain. They explain that the characters for this dance are a couple who are fighting. Courtney is a deranged girlfriend who goes looking for her man Twitch at a club then assaults him. It was excellent, especially the lift at the end. Mandy thought it was an awesome way to start out. She loves that Twitch is so hysterical onstage. Mary felt that from Courtney calling it a knockout. Naturally we got a scream from Mary too. Nigel told Twitch to be grateful he was dancing with Courtney and not Mary. He does wonder what it is with Twitch and the crazy girlfriends.
For the solos, we also got a clip of Cat talking to each dancer. First up was Courtney who talked about her family. She says that no-one in her family talks, they just yell because they're all loud. She does have a boyfriend, who isn't jealous of her former dance partner Gev apparently. Courtney says that you don't have to be in love with someone to have chemistry. Her favorite routine was the Sonya Jazz routine from last week. For her solo, she danced to "They Weren't There" by Missy Higgins. Mandy loves that she has such soul when she moves. Mary likes that she has grown and been and inspiration. Nigel likes her spirit and that she energizes everyone around her.
Katee & Joshua were reunited again this time with Wade Robson. This inspiration for this dance is that love is hard work, but the best thing you'll ever work for. They danced to "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by John Mayer. Once again it was beautiful work from the pair of them. They are just magic. Mandy thought it was beautiful from the very beginning where Katee was just inhaling and exhaling. Mary thought it was beautiful as well, and liked that someone finally made it through the fight. Nigel said there were many remarkable things about the dance but particularly because everything that got in the way of emotion was stripped. He likes that Joshua has uncontrolled control. He thinks the pair of them are two of the best dancers ever on the show.
Katee & Courtney were up next with a Tyce DiOrio Broadway routine. The idea of the routine is that they miss their train and have a great time waiting for the next one. They danced to "The Trolley Song" by Rufus Wainwright. Dusty and I both thought Courtney was just a little better than Katee was here. Mandy thought their costumes were great and loved the story. Mary said that dancing with a prop can be difficult, but they pulled it off. Nigel thought that Katee did a bit better because she finishes every move a little bit more than Courtney does but that they are both brilliant.
Twitch was up next. He talked to Cat about how he got his name, he was always dancing. He was going to join the military if he wasn't on the show this season. As for his partnership with Kherington, he was hoping to get her as a partner because of her energy. Twitch was caught off guard when she left. His favorite dance was the Viennesse Waltz that he and Kherington did with Jean Mark Generaux that was choreographed for his daughter. His solo was to "It Was All In Your Mind" by Wade Robson. Mandy called him the little engine that could. She loves that the spark he has has stayed with him through the competition. Mary was speechless. Nigel loves his sense of humor.
Joshua & Twitch were up next, settling a feud that has been going on since Hollywood. We are treated to clips of the duo fighting throughout the season. They will be doing a new dance choreographed by Youri Nelzine to The Nutcracker Suite. It's a Russian Trepak. The routine was great, I can't even decide who won. I love both of them. Mandy thought the physical ability, technical ability and stamina that required was great. Mary likes having two Hip Hop dancers in the finale. She called it one of the most fabulous numbers they've ever seen on the show. Nigel expected them to be good at the dance as it's Russian street dancing.
Katee talked to Cat about competing against her roommate for the final spot in the Top 20. Her favorite routine was probably the No Air routine because it was so emotional and it was their first routine. She danced to "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap. Mandy tells her to keep dancing and taking classes. Mary is going to cherish so many of the numbers Katee has done this season. Nigel loves that Katee completes the task the choreographers give her.
Twitch & Katee danced a Foxtrot choreographed by Tony Meredith and Melanie to "Feeling Good" by Michael Buble. It was very beautiful and romantic. Mandy thought it was romantic. She said Twitch looked handsome while Katee was beautiful. She loved the lift. Cat thought Twitch looked like James Bond, so Nigel has him "audition" for Bond with the accent. Mary calls Twitch a cool gentleman. She is blown away by the way he's grown. Nigel loves the honesty of Katee's performance. As for Twitch, he and all the guys have spoiled the choreographers this season with the macho way they handle the lifts with such ease.
Joshua talked to Cat about the struggles of growing up. They didn't have a lot of money for dance classes. He could have picked football and track, but decided on dance instead. His favorite dance was the Samba with Katee (I'll agree on that, though perhaps for different reasons that his). His solo was to "(Not Just)Knee Deep" by Funkadelic. He hopped up on the judges platform to dance. Mandy loved that he had the confidence to dance inches away from them. Mary says he's been riding the Hot Tamale train the whole season. Nigel tells him he has set the standard for untrained dancers on the show.
Courtney & Joshua picked a Jive choreographed by Jason Gilkison. He says the Jive depends on stamina. They danced to "The Dirty Boogie" by The Brian Setzer Orchestra. I thought it was great and had lots of energy. Mandy thought the feet were fast moving. Mary pointed out that the Jive is already one of the fastest and hardest dances and Jason added unbelievable tricks on top of it. Nigel wasn't as impressed, calling it tired and not brilliant. He didn't think it had the energy and bounce that a Jive should have.
Last we had the Group routine choreographed by Mia Michaels. Mia said that the piece is just about celebrating the win and enjoying it all. They danced to "Hallelujah" by the Vitamin String Quartet. Mandy was lost for words. She felt like she witnessed something magical. Mary thought Twitch was a standout while Courtney and Joshua dropped a bit. Katee was flawless. Nigel focused first on the guys, saying that America got it right as they deserve to be here. As for the girls, Katee was going to give up and Courtney was lost in the beginning but they are both shining beacons now. He then went on about the public not wanting to see the dancers tired and not caring if they've had a bad week. Nigel said that no one would complain after seeing that performance.
I have no clue who will win. I would love to see one of the guys win as that would just be so great for them being untrained as they are. But honestly I will be happy no matter who wins as I love all four of the dancers!

Oh please please please let it be Joshua. He is truly my favorite dancer. All the others had opportunities and money to take dance classes, have dancing parts in Movies (Twitch in HairSpray) dance competitions etc. Joshua came from the streets and for him to do a Samba, a foxtrot etc - is truly a natural God given talent. I do LOVE them all - kudos, what a tremendous Season!!!
