America's favorite dancer was named tonight on So You Think You Can Dance. Would it be sexy and sweet Hip Hop dancer Joshua? Or perhaps the funny Hip Hop dancer Twitch? Would Courtney, the light of Dusty's eye be the winner? Or would it be the free spirit of Katee that takes the prize?
They brought back the rest of the Top 20 dancers for the show as well as some extra choreographers. Mia Michaels, Adam Shankman, Debbie Allen, Mary Murphy, Nigel Lythgoe and Lil' C are our judges for the night. The remainder of the choreographers are in the audience. Adam previously announced that the winner would get a dance roll in the next movie he's producing. He was able to give us a few more details tonight. The movie is the first dance movie to be shot in 3D, Step Up 3D.
We were naturally treated to a nice long recap of the season so far. We get another group dance, by the entire Top 20. They danced to "Boom" by Sin featuring T-Pain. The dance was a Hip Hop number choreographed by Shane Sparks. As it was Hip Hop Comfort, Joshua, Gev and Twitch stood out.
The judges pick their favorite routines, which we then get to see all over again. Nigel was up first with his pick - the Bollywood routine that Katee & Joshua danced. Once again it was great, and it's easy to see why these two are in the finale. Mary picked Courtney & Gev's rumba for her pick. She thought the partnership was a match made in heaven while the dance was a perfect blend of innocence and maturity.
Then we get our battle of the Poppers, Robert Muraine and Phillip Chbeeb after a clip of their auditions. The battle was to "Stronger" by Kanye West. Cat Deeley asked the judges who they would give the battle to. Mia picked Phillip. Adam thinks Robert is a freak of nature. Debbie liked that Rober was more threatrical. Nigel liked that Robert had time to make fun of Phillip's moves. Mary gave it to Robert too. Lil' C also picked Robert, making him the winner.
Adam picked a routine choreographed by Dave Scott for Comfort & Twitch to "Forever" by Chris Brown, the one that brought Comfort back. Lil' C picked his favorite because it was art on the dance floor and showcased that you have to dance through your heart. He picked Mark & Chelsie's "Bleeding Love" routine choreographed by Tabitha & Napoleon. Once again it was magical.
Mary Murphy then abandoned the judges table for the dance floor. She danced with Dmitry to "Baila Baila."
After a break, Mia Michaels revealed her pick, choreographed by Desmond and Dwight - the Pas De Deux for Katee & Will. In case you're having trouble remembering, they danced to David Archuleta's "Imagine." This two was still magical the second time around. Adam got another pick, this time he picked a Sonya Tayeh Jazz routine. The routine that Courtney & Mark performed last week to "The Garden." Dusty was happy this one was picked as that is Dusty's favorite Courtney outfit.
The Top 4 then come out to find out who isn't in the running to be America's Favorite Dancer. The first person eliminated is Courtney. She gives a wonderful thank you speech. After the break, the top 5 guys do their group dance from a few weeks ago to "Five Guys Named Moe."
The cast of Criss Angel Believe come out to dance a routine choreographed by Wade Robson. The dance is apparently an homage to the rabbits who have died at the hands of incompetent magicians. It was very fun and freaky.
Cat once again gives us another result. This time it's Katee who is out of the running. We also get a clip of her journey and another speech. Katee's elimination means that one of our untrained Hip Hop dancers, either Joshua or Twitch, will get the win. Cat tells Katee that this year there is a surprise for the top guy and the top girl. Katee will be taking home $50,000.
Cat talks to Debbie Allen about her experience of watching the show at home as a viewer rather than as a judge. Debbie brought some special dancers with her to perform. The Debbie Allen Dance Academy performs a tap dance to "Boogie Wonderland." Nigel Lythgoe comes out to dance with them as well.
Mary picked another judges favorite also about relationships. This one involved a door, choregraphed by Mia Michaels. Twitch & Katee return to dance to "Mercy" by Duffy. After the dance, the Jonas Brothers come out to perform "Burning Up." I don't know much about the Jonas Brothers, but I'm thinking the big guy who came out to rap at the end was NOT a Jonas Brother.
We were treated to two more judges picks for their favorite routines. First up was Debbie Allen who loved Twitch & Kherington's Viennese Waltz choregraphed by Jean-Mark Generaux, the one he did for his daughter. The last dance Nigel introduced was choregraphed by Tabitha & Napoleon. It was Katee & Joshua's "No Air" routine.
Then we were treated to a clip of previous contestants and what they are doing now. This leads to a performance by some SYTYCD alumni.
Finally we were down to the moment we were waiting for. Would the winner be Joshua or Twitch? Cat points out that in four seasons a street dancer hasn't made it to this part of the finale, now we have two of them. Joshua is named the winner. He thanks God and tells us all to not let anyone tell you that you can't do something.

I loved this season finale!! And I loved watching all the favorite dances again!!
Katee & Will's Pas De Deux was even more magical because this time Katee didn't stumble on the turn like she did on the original dance... It was perfect!!
I loved the battle of the Poppers!
I loved seeing Mary dance with Dmitry, and Nigel tap dancing!! They can perform as well as judge!
That was fun seeing all the dancers from previous seasons.
I agree the choreography was the best this year!!!
It was very emotional watching Katee win the $50,000.
I love it that 2 street dancers made it to the finale for the first time! Joshua and Twitch are the best!!!
I love it that Joshua won!!! He was my top pick!!

Joshua gives me heart palpitations. Watching him dance makes everything in the world seem better. He's strong and the compassion that comes through his movement is breathtaking.
But I wish Katee won. By far she is the more magical of all the dancers and the rarity of her talent is something to celebrate. She never misses a beat and conveys so much more then movement. She makes one believe beauty is something more then a good body, pretty face, sexy movement or trilly voice. She shines with a light that is just pure gold. And she makes everyone she dances with shine too.
Oh heck I loved all of the dancers, and thanks to them all for such a great season full of entertainment, beauty and feeling. What a great bunch of people.
What a great show too - I commend the organisers for handling it so well and allowing the dancing to stand by itself without relying on sensationalist tactics (cat-fights and he-said-she said scenarios).
