David Archuleta takes second on Billboard's chart

American Idol's runnerup David Archuleta scored the highest debut this week on the Billboard Hot 100, coming in at number 2. "Crush" beats Idol winner David Cook's #3 debut in June with "The Time of My Life." Archie also scores the highest debut since Fall Out Boy in January in 2007.

Meanwhile Rihanna managed to outsell Archie enough to earn the number one spot on the charts with "Disturbia."

Personally I'd say we'll wait to declare a chart winner when Cookie releases his music as opposed to the crap forced on him when he won AI. Afterall, Archie's AI forced first single, "Imagine" did incredibly crappy in comparison to Cookie's AI forced first single.

	This article is really crappy. No depth or insightful analysis. Just comparison between the Davids due to your jealousy. They respect each other very much. You should grow up and try to be a better writer with depth.

	Ummm.....Are you really comparing Imagine with Time of My Life??? Imagine wasn't a studio version. It was a 1.5 minute song pressed directly from the stage performance. It wasn't hyped like Cook's coronation song nor was it sung to 40 million captive viewers. It did become a favourite on So You Think You Can Dance, however. I digress. Why don't we stop the comparisons and just say Archie had a very respectable Billboard debut!

	"Imagine" was probably the best song taken away from Season 7. It wasn't a studio version so that's why it sold less. If you look at youtube views though, Imagine has about 4 million.

My point, which is obviously lost on the brain dead, is that you can't compare "Crush" to "The Time of My Life" like the original article does because Cookie's single was the standard AI crappy forced first single. That Cookie managed to have even a smidge of success with that piece of manure speaks volumes for his fan base.

	I don't see why Cook fans are upset. Cooks TOML already had it's moment to shine considered it was debut in front on 40 million people then sang on every major talk show for 2 weeks straight than played at the olympics and SYTYCD and he gets to sing it on tour. Little Archie had no promotion, hasn't sung it once live yet, isn't singing it on tour. Its amazing amazing for his single to be so high on the charts with such limited promotion. In addition it #7 in Canada, and # 16 in the World Charts...Wow!!!!! Cook will do just fine.. Right now its Archies moment and what a moment it is!!!

	Competition is good for business, so these moguls will not stop the process. I am neither a fan of rock or pop, so I will not buy Cook's songs nor Archuleta's. My cup of tea is Country songs. But my crystal ball clearly displays a scenario that Archuleta's future album will outsell Cook's and that Archuleta will garner more music awards, like Grammy's. Don't ask the reason, the crystal ball just displays that. Don't get upset either with me, but get upset with my crystal ball. It's the one showing the picture.

	David Cook won the AI, then his TOML has the 236,000 downloads ever in a single week, and ll of his performance songs were on the Billboard Top 100, and so was told that no singers since the Beatles has done that, and his TOML has been used by the OLYMPICS, and he is collaborating with a great producer and he is just doing what he loves . End of the story.

	I heard that some of Cook's fans bought Rihanna's "Distrubia" so that David's "Crush" would not debut @ #1 on Billboard. Is this true???????? I hope not. Otherwise cookies are going to have to be scheming for a long time to TRY to keep his eventual chart-dominating career from surpassing any other idol, past and present. And what about the World Chart where David is #16. Now that really big! Will the Cookiefactory start cooking up schemes to keep David from going any higher? Of course not, right?

	Archie's released a song? Really? Haven't heard it on my Billboard station. And to the guest going on about Imagine on SYTYCD? It wasn't about the song, it was about the dance. Which by the way was incredible. But it would have been just as wonderful if it had been danced to the Lennon version. The dancers made the dance magic, not the song.

If you can't be a good example, then be a horrible warning!

	Right Shelly! And that is exactly what makes Crush debuting at @#2 on Billboard so incredibly wonderful and amazing because DID NOT received very much airplay. That just goes to show that David will be successful against ALL odds.

	First, I am not for comparison as the AI is over and the two Davids are so different in their music as fire vs water. However, I do want to give few points/facts in your comparison of Crush & TMOL in your 3rd paragraph: 1) TOML won the song writing competition and your calling it crappy didn't show your respect to the song writer(s); 2) if TOML is really crappy songs, then why it is used by Olympics, SYTYCD and other occasions?; 3)even Cook didn't choose TOML, it had the promotion advantage over Crush which should make up all the "non-chosen"single disadvantage if there is any; 4) The fact that even the same singer with chosen songs couldn't debut higher than their coronation songs (case: Kelly, Clay, and Carries all debut #1 with coronation songs, but only reach #4, $8 and #10 for their highest debut single) validates my point 3 - the promotion value of idol coronation song in debut rank; 5) even for idol's non-coronation songs' top 10 debut, Clay's song, Carries' song all performed at Idol. Given the above facts and past proven track of idol coronation songs and album songs, it's fair to say that Archuleta's Crush did outperform TOML in term of Billboard debut rank. Actually, it's the best debut in last 18 months even compared to tons of established artists, not only idol songs (coronation or not), period.

	LOL! The writer of this article is clearly a David Cook fan. Cook fans just can't accept defeat. Well anyway, I'm clearly anArchuleta fan, but I don't really care if Cook would hit #1 on Billboard when his first album comes out because either way, Archuleta will be successful too. He doesn't need to outsell Cook or anything. They are different. So who cares if Cook has more fans? Archuleta inspired me and a lot more people, that's what matters.
