Wilson sisters unhappy with Republican use of song

Ann and Nancy Wilson of legendary rock group Heart are unhappy that their song "Barracuda" was used at the Republican National Convention as Vice President nominee Sarah Palin's theme song. The song was played on Wednesday in honor of Palin's appearance at the RNC. The sisters have sent a cease and desist letter to the Republicans asking them not to use the song again. "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission," according to a statement issued late on Thursday on behalf of the sisters. 
This isn't the first time that the Republicans have gotten into trouble for using a song. Jackson Browne used the Republican National Committee, the Ohio Republican Party as well as Republican Presidential nominee John McCain over the use of his song "Running on Empty" in a campaign ad.
Though copyright law may not be on the sisters' side as the song can be licensed for a public performance, they do have a valid point. Anytime a song is used by a political party, many people assume that the singer is then supporting that particular party or candidate...not that any of that matters to the Republicans. They're used to taking whatever they want anyhow with no regard for anyone else.
