Joaquin Phoenix dumping movies for music career

Actor Joaquin Phoenix made a shocking announcement over the weekend at the premiere of his new movie at the American Film Institute festival. Joaquin is giving up acting in favor of a music career. The actor, who learned to play guitar while filming "Walk the Line" where he played Johnny Cash, says he wants to move on and discover something else.

"It's like greener pastures, you know what I mean?" Phoenix said Saturday. "And so, I'm just going to try and like, I'll just be doing the other thing. ... Hopefully, I will emotionally impact you with that, as well."

Joaquin had first mentioned moving on to music while giving an interview to "Extra" early last week. The interviewer wasn't certain if he was serious or joking. Apparently, he's serious.

	nooooo!! We already lost River Phoenix..... We can't lose Joaquin too!! I hope he comes to his senses! He's one of the great actors of his generation!! He at least can't quit til he wins best actor at the academy awards... which wouldnt be too far away. Don't do it Joaquin!!! You would contribute more as an actor than a singer. Don't do it!!
