Stewert was picked to succeed Jay-Z as the executive VP of Def Jam while also keeping his duties as senior VP of A&R at Island Def Jam. A statement released by the label called Shakir "an amazing man" who was an "incredible friend and father." We send our condolences out to Shakir's family and friends.
