American Idol's a dud in Jacksonville

American Idol's audition tour hit Jacksonville tonight. Next time around they might want to save themselves the time and go to a better city.

Ryan Seacrest, in a car with Simon Cowell, tries to tell us that the auditions are coming to us tonight from Jacksonville, Florida. Simon tells him that he's being fake and he should just be himself. Then, because of the connection between Randy Jackson and Jacksonville, we get a clip of how awesome Randy was in Journey. It seemed a bit of a stretch.

First up was Joshua Ulloa, who said he gets compared to Season One's Justin Guarini. Joshua sings Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On." He has an interesting voice and quirky personality. Randy liked that he had the sound effects and everything. Simon thought that it was good in parts, but corny and gimicky in others. Randy liked the crazy parts though as it was entertaining. Joshua got the approval of all four judges and is on his way to Hollywood.

Next up was Sharon Wilbur and her dog Sacha. Sharon says Sacha is amazing and helps relax her. To prepare, she got her dog's hair cut, but not too short. She sings "Superstar" by Karen Carpenter. Simon thinks she has a nice voice. Randy likes the tone. Paula Abdul, for some reason I don't understand, kisses Kara Dioguardi then says yes.

After a clip of Ryan being weird, Dana Moreno gets a no from the judges after Simon tells her she can't sing big songs.

Next up is Kaneswa Finnie, who says her confidence comes from her mom. She sings Anita Baker's "Caught up in the Rapture of Love." Simon thought it got progressively worse. He tells her she has a great smile but a terrible voice. She says she isn't surprised at that reaction from Simon. He asks her if she disagrees, which she does. Kara asked Kaneswa who told her she has a good voice. After she tells them that her mother told her that, they bring mom in. Simon tells Mom that it was terrible and wonders what Mom honestly thinks. Mom says she sings all around Jacksonville. Kaneswa isn't going to Hollywood.

Julissa Veloz sings a Whitney Houston song. Simon said it was better than he thought, but she didn't make the song sound nice. He added that her laugh bothers him. Kara likes the voice and wants to see what she would do next. Randy skips Paula's option making Paula leave. Julissa goes after her and brings Paula back. The judges all vote to put Julissa through to Hollywood.

Darin Darnell is very high spirited. He loves to mesh with a large group of people. After Darin's friend Devin gets cut, Darin loses his perkiness. He's sad and worried now. He tries to sing Boyz II Men's "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye." Simon stops him telling him it won't work. Kara tells him if he's this upset, then the music business isn't for him.

Naomi Sykes is the last contestant of the day. She apparently she compares herself to Mariah Carey because she can hit the high notes. Naomi asks if her friend can come in and meet Randy as she's a big fan. Samantha comes in and is told by Simon to sit on Randy's lap. That inspires Ryan to sit on Kara's lap and Paula to sit on Simon's lap. Naomi tries to sing "Loving You," but she sucks. She says everyone tells her she's great. Simon wonders if it's a joke. Again he makes the contestant cry. She gets a group hug from Kara, Paula and Randy. As a side note, Dusty and I sang along with the la la parts, in the same bad voice Naomi used. My cat came over to check if we were okay as she clearly thought we were hurt or dying.

The judges have high hopes for day two, as day one kinda sucked. Jasmine Murray kicks things off. She is already a star according to her sisters and brother. She sings "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie. Simon calls her cute and commercial. Paula says she has a nice voice. All of the judges vote yes.

George Ramirez is studying physics, but took a break to come audition. Simon asks him where he sees himself in 11 years. The question seems to perplex George, but he finally answers that he sees himself in a nice house with marble floors. His singing is terrible. Simon asks him if he has sang in public. George says he has only sang with his friends. Randy calls it the quietest audition he'd ever heard. Simon doesn't think this is for him.

Anne Marie Boskovich comes in, and tells the judges that Kara is her hero. She saw Kara perform and fell in love. Anne Marie sings part of the song that she saw Kara sing. The judges have a problem with her though. Simon tells her to come back as herself. Anne Marie goes off and gets a bit of a makeover.

T.K. Hash, who was told no last year, was up next singing "Imagine" by John Lennon. Paula says he sounds better this year. Randy agrees he is better this year, but it was too over the top. Randy thought he changed the song too much. Simon says no, but the other three say yes, sending T.K. to Hollywood this year.

A clip of families telling us how awesome their star is, Michael Perrelli was up. He plays his guitar everywhere and can't see himself as anything but a musician. He panics after finding out that he can't play guitar during his audition. He sings "Jumper" by Third Eye Blind. Without his guitar he isn't as good. Simon tells him he would struggle within this competition. Paula knows it's hard doing this. Kara says he's probably better with his guitar. Michael starts pleading, prompting Simon to tell him he's getting on his nerves. Michael gets no votes all around. He comes out and his mother tries to comfort him. He pulls away and tells her not to touch him. Ryan scolds him for treating his mother like that.

Anne Marie is back. She sings Bubbly. Randy loves her voice and the vibe. The makeover has worked, they send Anne Marie on to Hollywood.

All in all, Jacksonville seemed to be a bit of a dud as only 16 tickets were given out in two days of auditions.

	Joshua Ulloa - he is entertaining and I hope he makes it in Hollywood. Sharon Wilbur - the best part of her was her dog. Julissa Veloz - she is good, if she can control that laugh. Jasmine Murray - good singer. Anne Marie Boskovich - I felt like her 'makeover' was basically just removing her levi jacket, changing shoes, and putting on a little makeup. she didnt look that much different. T.K. Hash - Cute black guy!

	T.K. Hash was my favorite of the night! Adorable and an awesome voice!!! Not the best song choice, but you can tell the man can really sing!
