American Idol 2009 gets halfway to Top 12

American Idol is halfway to revealing their Top 12 after putting 3 more people through to the next round. The hopes of nine more contestants were dashed as they were sent home.

Host Ryan Seacrest told us that we again broke records last night, with over 25 million votes tallied. Ryan then told Simon Cowell that he was talking to Randy Jackson about how awesome Simon is this year. Simon just wants to improve every year. He also wanted the show to be about the contestants.

he group performance tonight was "Closer" by Ne-Yo. I don't know if this group practiced more on their group performance or what, but they were miles better than last week's group.

After the group performance, we were treated to a discussion with the hopefuls. Ryan asked Nick Mitchell what he will be doing if he doesn't make it. Nick told Ryan that he would be looking for employment. Matt Breitzke thought that they all have a lot to learn at this stage, but he has been having a blast. He also disputed Simon's comment yesterday that it was too late for advice. Matt B doesn't think it's ever too late for advice. Simon responded with "It's too late." Jesse Langseth still thought she made the right song choice. Jeanine Vailes stuck by her thought yesterday that she overcompensated.

Then we were up to some results. Ryan asked Allison Iraheta to come down. After a recap of what the judges said, he told her to stand to the side for a minute. He then did the same with Jesse Langseth and Matt Breitzke. Ryan asked Randy who would make it in. Randy guessed that it would be one of the girls, but hoped it would be Allison. Randy was right, Allison is in the Top 12. Allison then treated us to a repeat of her performance of "Alone" by Heart.

For the next round of results, Ryan asked Megan Joy Corkrey and Kris Allen to join him. Then he had Matt Giraud and Jeanine Vailes join him as well. Ryan said that one of them indeed goes through. Kara DioGuardi gave a long rambling opinion punctuated by Simon's exasperated comments trying to hurry her along. I was thinking the same thing here at home. I never thought I'd long for Paula Abdul to speak! Finally Ryan saved the day by telling everyone that Kris Allen was in the Top 12. Kris then performed "Man in the Mirror" again.

Brooke White returned to the Idol stage to perform her first single, "Hold Up My Heart." Brooke co-wrote the single. Brooke told Ryan that she is glad to be done with this part of the show. She advised the contestants to be true to themselves and not google their names. The single sounds very Carly Simon-ish. I like it.

Now we were down to the last five hopefuls. Ryan had all five of them come down in a line. Mishavonna Henson, Kai Kalama, Nick Mitchell / Norman Gentle, Adam Lambert and Jasmine Murray all lined up onstage. Ryan addressed Mishavonna and Kai, then skipped Nick and Adam to go to Jasmine. Mishavonna, Kai and Jasmine were all out, leaving only Nick and Adam to get their results.

Naturally, there was a break before our final results. As I write this, I don't know the result yet and I'm torn. I'd like to see Nick go through because I'm certain the judges will bring back Adam in the wildcard show. But then again I really don't want to lose Adam! AAAAHHHHH! Ryan asked Simon before the break if he went home to pray. Simon said he prayed for 5 or 6 hours, and was just hoping he had a good relationship with God. Simon's relationship with God is indeed good, as Adam is through and Nick is out.

	I just listened to Brooke's song on youtube. I haven't seen tonight's show as yet. That song is SO boring. She just repeats the same words over and over again. The song has no depth, no range & no emotion. I'd never buy her cd. She should have had Carly Simon write her a song or do a cover. I can't see that song making it on the billboard charts. Do they have razzies for cd's? Fan of the show

	That was pretty sneaky putting Nick/Norman and Adam together. It was very obvious that Adam would be voted through, so we knew Nick/Norman wouldnt make it. But then on the other hand it was exciting... what if Nick/Norman made it and not Adam??? I had picked Adam and Allison as the top boy and girl, but didn't know who to pick for a 3rd (but I did hope Nick/Norman would have a chance) I was very shocked when Kris Allen beat Megan! Just like I was very shocked when Michael Sarver made it thru last week. I'm not surprised that Simon said they would have some of the people back to perform again! One chance is not enough when a great singer picks a wrong song. I was hoping for Nick/Norman to be put through, just so we could see what he would do next. Maybe they will let him sing again. I'm sure they'll have him perform on the finale.

	I wanted to see Nick make it, he really is entertaining. Adam is just gross to look at, between his acne, and his over acting... Yuk.. I don't see him going very far. He will make it past the roughneck guy, and maybe a couple others, but his high pitch voice is going to annoy people really quick.

	well no suprises there i really liked american people voted especially when they voted allison and kris they are not popular contestants however american put them throught because of there performances welld done america and i am so happy that adam is throught he is best performance this week and he was just awesome. as meagan and norman don't woory i think they will be in the wildcard.

	Hey all, I really enjoy watching american idol and I think that america got it right. I think they are all great in their own way....to me it's a singing competiton...so I knew Allison & Adam was gonna make it thru, Kris I didn't guess I thought it would be Meaghan.

	Don't forget about Matt Geraud...he is without question extremely talented...he "wows" the crowd night after night in real life..."Georgia" was amazing! Get him back in his comfort zone with his keyboard and the right song next time and trust me he could go far!
