American Idol produces most shocking bottom yet

Tonight on American Idol we had our most shocking Bottom 3 to date. But before we would get to our results, we had to go through 55 minutes of torture. Luckily if you're reading before watching the show, you can be spared the horror by simply skipping to the bottom.

Host Ryan Seacrest tells us that they received more than 47 million votes last night. Simon Cowell says that after watching it back he thinks last night was probably the best show at this stage he's seen. He thinks the competition is wide open.

Then we get the lame Ford Video, with the Top 5 singing "Energy." The group performance of "It Don't Mean a Thing" and "I Got Rhythm."

We are treated to a clip of the Idols celebrating Danny Gokey's birthday and Allison Iraheta's birthday. Danny's was last Friday, Allison's was Monday. They are baking cakes, which naturally leads to a food fight. Allison says Danny started it. Ryan hands Danny a bill for the cleaning, totaling $6,000. I'm totally underpaid as a housewife.

Ryan takes us on to the results, but lets everyone get a word in about their night. Matt Giraud felt good about last night. He gets to stand on the right. Danny has started to focus on the judges' comments and watch back performances. He goes to stand on the left. Allison joins Danny. Kris Allen tells us that he wouldn't be here if he didn't think he could win. He goes to stand with Matt. This leaves Adam Lambert to decide which group he belongs with. He asks Ryan why he did this to him. Adam picks Danny and Allison to stand with. Ryan tells him he's wrong, he belongs with Matt and Kris, as they are the bottom three. Screams abound from the TV and my living room (I think it was me screaming).

The judges are shocked. Paula Abdul says that all five of them are bright and shining stars. Simon points out the obvious - only 5 are left so someone has to leave. Randy Jackson tells them they are all talented.

Natalie Cole comes out to sing her song "Something's Gotta Give." What a boring, repetitive song. Natalie is headed out on tour this summer.

Season 5's fluke winner Taylor Hicks returns to perform his newest single "Seven Mile Breakdown." I didn't think Taylor had a record deal anymore? I still think he forged a birth certificate to get into the competition. There's no way he is younger than me. All four judges give Taylor a standing ovation. He tells the contestants to focus on song choice and performing well on the stage.

Ryan calls Matt, Kris and Adam back to the stage. He is going to send one person to safety - Kris. That means either Matt or Adam will be leaving us tonight. Everyone screams again as Ryan announces it. If Adam goes home, that means the judges could have used their save on him instead of wasting it on Matt.

Last night's mentor Jamie Foxx comes out to perform his hit single "Blame It." I think it was a good performance, I'm too worried about Adam to focus on it. After he sings, Jamie talks to Ryan. Ryan tells him he did an amazing job with the contestants. Jamie thinks these are five of the most talented people he's seen in the past 10 years. He hopes that America still embraces them after American Idol as they are true artists. Jamie isn't really worried about the results, he says it's what happens after this that matters. He then plugs his movie "The Soloist" before he leaves.

Then we're off to the final results. Ryan tells us that Adam is ... safe. We get the goodbye clip for Matt who leaves us this week.

	Adam finally got a reality check. He sings the same way every week. If it wasn't for his theoretical perfomances he would have been gone a long time ago. He should be an actor instead of a singer. All he does is screams.

	some people are born real mean. all adam haters, if you want to promote your own fave idol, tell something good about them by not pulling adam down. he may win or not, its up to america. whatever, credit him for working real hard week after week to entertain not the fewer few but for the many who enjoys & love his artistry.

	I couldn't believe it when Adam was in the bottom 3!!! I couldn't believe it even more when he was in the bottom 2!!!! I think everyone knows he will always be #1 so they vote for their 2nd and 3rd choices. All I could think was that Simon should have saved the "save" for Adam. Matt was my choice to go home, so I'm glad. It was good to finally see Taylor Hicks again. I don't think I've seen him sing again since he won on AI. 	If I hadn't missed the deadline on the prediction contest: I would have said Matt and Allison would be in the bottom 2. I would have gotten 1 point right for Matt. I would have gotten 1 point for Matt going home. On the bonus question I would have said Simon's shirt would be black, so I missed that (he wore white). So I would have had 2 more points. 	Its a ploy to make the show interesting and to stir things up. AI was becoming predictable you can tell who was going home each week without even watching their performance. Its as if each contestant has an expiration date. At least this shale things up..... I'm betting the girl is next on the chopping block.

	This weeks shocker is nothing to go by. Adam will make it to the title as expected. Allison might go home next week. Its not that she's less talented tham the others, but she doesn't seem to be so popular as them.

	The whole of yesterday and earlier today, I had a bad feeling that we were going to get a shock result with Adam in danger. It was deja vu kind of feeling that we were going to get the Daughtry or Michael John elimination all over again. Whew that was close! I think Adam is the victim of his own success and popularity. Every survey and poll on the internet has him as the favourite and sure winner of this year's idol that no one had any doubt that he is safe week in week out that they focused their votes on the second and third fav instead. This is a wake-up call for the voters, and I am sure it will be a good thing for Adam. He will never be at the bottom again after this and will win for sure.

	oh yeah, I didn't watch the result show but I'm very glad to hear about the news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's right Adam is a good singer but he always screams and I hate his voice- an ugly voice!nothing's new after every week! Adam's lucky because there is Matt left to save him

Within 30 minutes of the end of the performance show on Tuesday night. I even post a link to the new week's question at the bottom of every performance recap, so I don't see how it's so hard to miss. It stays open until 7pm on Wednesdays (that's Eastern time).

	The producers HAD to add an element of surprise and real controversy, and last night they were true to form. There is no way that Adam was in the bottom three, much less the bottom two. He will win this competition hands down. I hope Allison gives another excellent performance next week, she is a much stronger contestant than Kris.

	That is what they would want us to believe. But those of us who have been following the show from the first season know that something like this HAS to happen every year to create controversy. The greater the controvery, the higher the ratiings, the more they can charge for advertising. It's all about the "Benjamins" ($)

	Ryan never said Adam was in bottom 2 . Only that Kris was safe. Kris could actually have had less votes than Adam

	danny had a slip of tongue. hahaha! he said he observes others performances & take it his own. he actually copied part of the moves of adam during disco week from his born to be wild performance & so was last tuesday attempt of high note! adam is a great singer. he's brave when put on the spot which side to join. do u think others would dare? they'll predictably play safe. but not adam

Don't know about Season 1, but Season 2 had Ruben in the Bottom 2, Season 3 saw Fantasia in the Bottom 3, Season 4 saw Bo Bice in the Bottom 2, Season 5 actually saw Chris Daughtry voted off, Seasons 6 and 7 had no shockers but they also still had the illusion of a contest with more than one contestant able to win. AI producers had to do something to liven this season.
