The Top 4 on American Idol presented us with their best rock faces tonight for our Rock Theme.

Host Ryan Seacrest tells us that they had an accident onstage. The American Idol logo started to collapse just before the Idols were set to do their run-through. So they are performing without having done the run-through. Also they will be performing duets tonight in addition to their solo performances.

As the theme is rock, and the mentor is Slash, we were treated to the "how awesome Slash is" clip. He decided to meet with the Idols at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip. For their practices, he had them perform at the club with the band.

First up was Adam Lambert. He picked "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. Slash likes Adam's range, particularly because it comes so easy. He tells Adam not to improvise on the high register as much. I honestly expected more from his performance tonight. As it was rock he should have had a grand slam, but it was just a triple. Randy Jackson tells him that he is a rock star tonight, no comparisons to broadway for him. Kara DioGuardi thinks he should make album of classic 70's rock and glam rock from the 80's. Paula Abdul thinks he sounds perfect. Simon Cowell jokes that the performance was understated. He goes on to call it one of his favorite performances. Simon also thinks that the others will have a hard time topping that tonight.

Allison Iraheta tells Ryan that she went with Adam to get her hair done at his hairdressers. Slash thinks she needs to get over her fear. Allison picks "Crybaby" to perform. I don't like Janis Joplin, but this was the perfect song for her. Randy didn't love the song choice. Kara didn't like the song choice. Paula calls her fearless. Simon thinks the difference from where she was is staggering. He would have liked her to go for the other song she mentioned, "Somebody to Love." He thought she meant the Queen song, she meant the Jefferson Airplane song. She talks back and defends her choice, sounding like the petulant teenager she is the whole time. In the end, Simon tries to minimize the damage done by Allison's arguing by saying he likes that she was defending herself.

The first duet was by Kris Allen and Danny Gokey, performing "Renegade" by Styx. They sound really good together. Randy likes the harmonies, saying they compliment each other. Kara says there were pitchy moments. News flash Kara, in rock music it's about attitude and performance, not pitch. Are you going to tell me Ozzy Osbourne's pitch perfect? Paula thinks it was powerful and compelling. Simon thinks that Danny was better than Kris.

Kris Allen tells Ryan that he originally picked the Beatles song "Revolution," but it didn't feel right so he switched to "Come Together." Slash tells him to work on being more animated since he'll be standing still with his guitar. He was definitely animated. Kris' mouth makes Steven Tyler's mouth look small. Randy likes that he picked soemthing where he can still be himself. Kara didn't think it was a great performance. She thinks Kris was trying too hard. Side thought: Shouldn't one try hard to win the competition? Paula tells Kris that it's what he does with the song that makes it compelling. Simon compares it to eating ice for lunch, leaving you with nothing to remember afterwards. This sends all the pre-pubescent girls into a tizzy.

Danny Gokey picked "Dream On" by Aerosmith. Slash thinks Danny is naturally gifted. He tells us that the main thing will be for Danny to get the scream right at the end. He didn't get the scream right, but the rest was perfect. Randy thinks it was just alright. Kara went on and on and on and on about taking it too far, but liking more edge and other things that made less sense than Paula on pills. Paula doesn't think it was the right song. Simon compares the last note to a scene from Friday the 13th, but tells Danny he'll probably be safe.

Allison and Adam were the last duet, performing "Slow Ride" by Foghat. Randy tells them they should duet on their albums. Kara likes that they push each other to be better. Paula thinks they are a perfect blend. Simon tells Adam that he may have given Allison a chance to stay in the competition.

My Rankings:
Adam only earns a 9 tonight, I expected more.
Allison is second with an 8.5.
Danny is third with an 8 for that horrible scream.
Kris is last with a 7.5.

	Danny should go home. He is overrated. His weekly performance is the same old cynical tune. Mundane and boring. Kris today lack of power but he tried his best and did well weekly..Just that tonight is not his night. Allison...I'm glad for her as she overshone the two boys (except Adam). Adam is by far the best of the "lotta"...Vote for Adam and Allison!

	ADAM was AMAZING!!!! It was a Grand Slam and afterwards he slapped the pitcher!

	Adam Lambert is hot hot hot no matter what!!!!! Everything he does is so exciting. Danny's last note did sound like fingernails on chalkboard and Kris' expressions just ruined the song. Vote ADAM!!!!

	is it me or Allison freaks me out on the last picture with adam? ...Anyway; For the first time, I have to agree with Simon. Adam is awesome tonite! Especially when he did a duet with Allison. I think i started to like him.

	Tonight was definitely Adam and Allison's night!! Yes, I agree that Adam's "Whole Lotta Love" could have been alot bigger, it was like he was holding back... but it was still 100% better than everyone else. And he picked the best song! Allison's "Cry Baby" showed her great Janis Joplin rocker voice, but I would have liked to hear a different song from her. Kris's "Come Together" was quite boring. He should have picked a better rock song. Danny's scream in "Dream On" was embarrassing. I loved having duets!! That's a great "first". Adam and Allison picked a great song, and they are true rockers. Danny and Kris's duet had good harmonies. Based on tonight's performance, Allison should beat Kris. Danny will stay just because everyone loves him. I hope the top 3 will be Adam, Danny and Allison.

	I love the final four contestants, but tonight it was the Adam Lambert show. The guy is absolutely amazing. I asked my daughter if she wanted to go to KC to see the Idol concert. She said "no!" She wants to wait and go to a Adam Lambert concert. I think she has a point.

	I disagree, I've been waiting for Adam to do a Led Zep song and he nailed it. Actually, he probably has four of the top five performances of the season. I think Danny will be in the bottom three for the first time. But, then everyone but Adam will be as well. Kris did better than I thought he would with this format, especially in the duet, but he seems clearly overmatched now by the bigger voices and will probably go. I predict the final will be Adam and Danny, but he keeps slipping and Allison keeps catching up. Either would be fun, but it will be another blowout for Adam. Not a close final vote since Taylor and Katherine. Last year, the two Davids were separated by 20 million votes, wide margin the previous year with Jordin and Blake. In fact, I believe Adam would beat any of the previous winners with the possible exception of Carrie. don
