So You Think You Dance loses two dancers curlio
 2009-06-11 22:12:44
Television So You Think You Can Dance lost their first two dancers tonight. It's always hard to see people go, especially the first week before we've really had a chance to see what they can do.

The show opens with an amazing Hip Hop Group Performance to "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas. Shane Sparks choreographed that one. Then we're treated to a clip of the Top 20 dealing with their new partnerships.

Cat Deeley takes us to some results next. Kayla & Max, who danced to a Louis Van Amstel Samba routine are safe. Also safe are Randi & Evan, who danced to a Tyce DiOrio Jazz routine. I was afraid that made Jeanine & Phillip, who performed a Tabitha and Napoleon Hip Hop routine last night, in the bottom three. They seemed to think that too, as they screamed when they were told they were safe.

After the commercial we get to more results. Caitlin & Jason's Bollywood routine kept them safe. Melissa & Ade's beautiful dance to Mandy Moore's choreography kept them safe as well. Paris & Tony did not have good luck with their Hip Hop routine choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon as they were the first couple in the bottom three. Adam Shankman tells them that there was a lot of love for them on Twitter. Ashley & Kupono danced as Crash Test Dummies and succeeded in staying out of the bottom three.

Asuka & Vitolio's silent movie performance earned them a spot in the bottom three. Mary Murphy wasn't really shocked. She said it was just an exceptional evening last night, now they have to dance like they never have before. Janette & Brandon's Foxtrot kept them in the competition another week. Jonathan & Karla's Cha-Cha landed them in the bottom three.

Cat then introduced special guest dancers Miriam and Leonardo, who danced a Tango.

From there we were off to the solo performances. Paris danced to "It Doesn't Hurt" by Katie Thompson. Tony performed to "Early in the Morning" by the Gap Band. Asuka danced to "Did Ya" by BoA. Vitolio danced to "We Belong Together" by Gavin DeGraw. His performance I loved! Karla danced to "Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin. Jonathan perfomed to "Krazy" by Pitbull. If it were up to me, I'd lose Tony and Karla.

Sean Kingston performed his hit song "Fire Burning" while the judges were deliberating which dancers to send home.

First up for elimination were the girls. Nigel Lythgoe tells us that the judges were unanimous for this one. He tells Karla to be careful that her moves aren't just a series of steps. She did enough to stay in the competion though. He tells Asuka that it's difficult when you've only got a little bit to work with. He tells us that they took everything into account, including who else is in the show as they want a variety of genres. He thinks that Paris brought everything she can bring, but will be leaving tonight.

Nigel tells us that they were also unanimous for the guys as well. They didn't think that the solos were good enough from any of them. He tells Vitolio that they haven't seen his personality yet, but he better work on it as he's staying. They think Jonathan did a little better last night. The judges were surprised that Tony did locking for his solo, but not very well. They decided to keep Jonathan because his gymnastics were good.

I liked Tony!! I'm sorry we couldn't have seen more of him.
I'm ok with Paris leaving, she wasn't one of my favorite girls.
I'm glad my other favorites were safe.

We had a pretty bad storm, so I missed a few of the dances. Decided to skip that review and resume this week.

Overall I think that all of the dancers this year are very strong. I don't have a favorite yet.
