American Idol 2010: Chicago can not sing Auditions dusty
 2010-01-20 19:52:10
Television The third episode this year is from Chicago, it also happens to be the third time that American Idol held auditions in Chicago.

They say three times is a strike, well in this case it couldn't be further from the truth as only a mere 13 golden tickets were given to the 12.000 people auditioning.

Guest judge for this city was Shania Twain.

The first audition was from Katelyn Epperly and her story was that her parents are going through a divorce and that this is the first audition where not both parents are present. Apparently that itself meant good luck as she managed to get a gold ticket to Hollywood with her nice soulful voice. On top of that she also got a compliment from Shania that she sounded very unique.

The next big girl Amy Lang had a "special" ability. She was able to bounce her boobs while singing. When she was told to start singing she fell to the ground. Kara actually thought she fainted, but it was all part of the performance. It would all have been fine if she was actually able to sing, but that wasn't the case. Luckily the judges all agreed on that and they sent her home.

16 Year old Charity Vance was the next contestant to receive a golden ticket. She had a nice range in her voice. She impressed Randy Jackson with it. He said though her voice was small it did sound interesting. Shania mentioned that she had a good range and Simon Cowell mentioned that she sounded great and that she made the song her own.

We were treated to a collage of a lot of bad auditions, which apparently the producers had enough to choose from throughout the day. After that collage they mentioned that only 4 people managed to get a golden ticket.

The final contestant of the day was Angela Martin. She was a returning contestant as she competed in Seasons 7 and 8 and both times she was able to get to Hollywood. In her first season she was sent home. She said she wasn't doing as good as she could have because her father died that year just a week before she went to Hollywood. In season eight she had to drop out while she did manage to get into the top 50 because there was a warrant out for her arrest. Luckily for her it was just a traffic violation. So this year she was back to do another audition. Expectedly she still had a good voice and Simon mentioned that he loves doing this show because of singers like her. Randy said she had hot vocals. She of course managed to get a golden ticket to Hollywood.

After they told us that only 4 tickets were given out during the day before Angela. They also said that Angela was the last contestant yet 8 people from day one managed to get to Hollywood. (Someone within American Idol really needs a math lesson.)

Day two started off with the audition of 26-Year-Old Curley Newbern. He was singing high pitched and it sounded terrible. It actually sounded like my brother singing with his headphones on, which is not a very good sign. Simon said he didn't know what that audition was wondered if he found a lot of animals around his house while singing.

We got a quick view of an audition from 19-Year-Old Alannah Halbert, and she also got quickly a No from each judge.

Next up was a person that actually looked a bit like Shrek, just without the personality. He used to be in the entertainment in the army and singing for the troops. He was told to never sing in his uniform though. That was a nice indication of how his audition would go. 27-Year-Old Brian Krause decided to sing Tiny Tim. Though it was funny it was terrible. Curlio said he was serious, I said it was all a joke. When the judges were talking to him though Brian swore on his mother's grave that his audition was a serious one. He of course did not make it to Hollywood.

25-Year-Old Cry baby Harold Davis was the next contestant, when he got a no from all the judges he said that he had allergies and that was the reason why he didn't sound as good as he could be. Simon told him it was a definate no. Instead of immediately leaving he started crying in the audition room.

We were treated to another set of terribly bad singers.

The next real contestant actually did manage to get a yes from each judge. John Park has a soft voice and good control. Shania said she was pleasantly surprised and it looked like she was actually drooling over him. He was actually the first person of the day to receive a golden ticket.

21-Year-old Paige Dechaussee came with her whole family in a limousine paid for by her grandmother. She had an asthma attack a few years ago while she was singing in a studio and collapsed. In the hospital her family heard she only had a thirty percent chance of pulling through and that she would probably have brain damage if she would. She of course survived and she doesn't have any brain damage. She had a good voice and a good control. Randy mentioned that there were a few pitch problems. Simon gave her a no. However both girls said Yes and they were talking Randy into saying yes. He eventually gave in and gave Paige a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Though only a handful of tickets were given away the second day was already coming to a close. They went quickly through three good singers; Justin Ray, Keith Semple and Marcus Jones. They all got a ticket.

The result of day two was that only 5 people from that day got a ticket.

Tonight's city is Orlando; hopefully they are a lot better than the crappy Chicago auditions.

Difficult to say what happened in Chicago. If you watch the video, they spliced the Orlando footage with Chicago to fit their agenda. I'm guessing because Obama is from Chicago Fox went out of its way to make the city look bad. Just for anyone who watched last night, there are no palm trees in Chicago. Leave it to Fox to not let facts get in the way of their agenda.

I liked all the contestants who were finally put through, although I'm not that impressed with Angela Martin since she is returning twice. But maybe she will be good, what do I know?
I'm excited to see if John Park can make it in Hollywood.
I'm excited for the Hollywood auditions!
