American Idol: The Orlando Auditions

The fourth episode of American Idol was the auditions in Orlando. in the first day they already gave away more golden tickets than they gave away in Chicago in two days. They call Orlando the place where dreams come true. Apparently looking at some of the rejects, nightmares came true too.

We started off the episode with Kara and the guest judge Kristin Chenoweth having a good time and bonding. In the meantime Ryan, Simon and Randy were late because they were still in Miami trying to get to Orlando.

The first contestant was Theo Glinton, while wearing just a weird outfit his performance was also completely over the top. The first sentence he was singing wasn't too bad. But after that he went quickly downhill. Simon said he was screaming a song and gave a definite no. Kara said his tone of his voice was over the top.

They started showing a collage already to show that the morning was filled with a lot of people getting No's. They did show that the girls were having a blast. Simon was of course annoyed by it and apparently took it out on the contestants. He said to one of the contestants: "You walked in like a cocktail stick and sang like you sat on a cat."

The next contestant that was actually highlighted was 28-Year-Old Seth Rollins, he said he loves to sing but that his family is first. They went into a back-story that his son was determined to be autistic. If he was autistic though it he has it very lightly. Personally it looked more like the kid was just shy. The guy though had a nice soft voice. Simon said he had a good voice, and Kristin said she liked everything about him. Randy said he needed to put a bit more energy in his performance. Seth however still got a yes from each of the judge and thus got a trip to Hollywood.

Another collage of people was shown with more people getting a no.

Jermaine Purifoy was the next contestant, he was a Season 7 contestant. He had a very good voice and Kristin mentioned that it sounded very pure. Randy said it was the best he heard the whole audition season. Simon commended him on the choice of song. The 24-Year-Old got a full house resulting in a golden ticket.

At 7PM it was time for the last contestant of the day. 18-Year-Old Shelby Dressel was unable to use her right side of her face when she was little due to some disease. She had a good voice but her immobility of the right side of her face was really distracting to me. Simon was blown away by her voice and Kristin said that there was good potential. She left the audition room with a golden ticket making her number nineteen to have gotten a ticket on the first day.

The auditions the next day would have to do without the guest judge as Kristin got called back to New York.

Jay Stone started the day off with beat boxing. He said he would bring something completely new to American Idol. When Blake Lewis was mentioned he defended his statement that Blake did not beat-box and sing. In my opinion neither was Jay. Then Jay actually sings a little and he has a good singing voice. The only judge giving Jay a No was Simon, the other two decided to give him a golden ticket anyway.

Another collage of singers were displayed luckily this time it was three good female singers that were all going to Hollywood: Janell Wheeler, Brittany Starr James and Kasi Bedford.

The next contestant got an unexpected pass to Hollywood because his voice was not that good. However he did a split during his audition and ripped his pants. Simon said that after that he had to say Yes because that was sacrifice.

The next two contestants were sisters. Bernadette Desimoore and Amanda Desimoore Randy and Kara wanted both sisters to Hollywood, though Simon only gave a yes to Amanda. They both did have good voices though.

Jarrod Norrell is a contestant that he's a really good singer. He of course sounds terrible. Kara's reaction was “Good Lord, what was that?” and asked him if he really though he was a great singer. Jarrod reaction gave a surprised reaction of "You serious?” Kara replied on that "It sounded like a lawnmower!” Because of that Jarrod decides to prove that he really can sing thus he starts singing again. Randy tries to stop him, of course in vain. Eventually Randy calls for security and they manage to take him behind the screen, then you hear a thud of people falling. We get a view from behind the screen where two police officers are handcuffing Jarrod. Simon afterwards asks the other judges: "Yes or a no?" Randy replied "It's a no, come on man!"

The auditions for day two were coming to an end. The last contestant in Orlando, Matthew Lawrence, robbed a bank with a BB Gun when he was 15 and spent 4 birthdays behind bars because of it. Now he wants to put a smile on the face of his family instead of causing pain. He has a very good powerful voice and Simon said it felt authentic and was very impressed. Kara was amazed how much control Matthew had over his voice. and Randy said his singing felt genuine. He also got the last golden ticket to Hollywood from Orlando. He also got a compliment from Simon that it was the easiest "Yes" from that day.

A total of 31 contestants managed to get a golden ticket to Hollywood in Orlando. The next episode will be the auditions from Los Angeles

	Of these contestants, I think Matthew Lawrence is the most interesting, and best. What a great story, if he makes it on AI, considering how his life could have been ruined when he was a teenager. It will also be interesting to see how far Shelby Dressel goes, with the deformed face. And the guy that did the splits and split his pants, I hope he can make it too!

	It's really disrespectful to write stuff like deformed face. There are kids out there being bullied today for having the same problem with their face, I used to be one of them, I'm now 40 years old. One little girl who has been bullied by her school mates has now turned into the cool girl just because of Shelby Dressel. Please be careful what you write on the internet, if you have a child one day with a problem like this, I guarantee you won't want to read this kind of stuff.
