Opera singer Charlotte Church just may be overworking her voice, and ruining it. The 17 year old starlette has been has had so much success, she's singing all the time. Plus, Charlotte smokes, which can ruin her vocal cords. But Charlotte denies she's harming her voice, even though vocal expert Lyn Davies says otherwise.
"There is an inevitable tension between commercial success and her own natural development. I would simply ask her to ask herself: 'Am I doing too much?'"
Even though she's been warned about straining her voice too far, and was nearly kicked off her label for smoking, Charlotte says she knows what she's doing.
"I learnt from a young age. I hardly even practise every day. I try not to sing songs that are too hard to sing."
What she's doing to her voice is a big no-no. Even professionals should know that if you over do it, you can permanently damage your vocal cords from over singing, and make it so you can barely talk. Smoking makes it worse. Hopefully she'll get her act together and stop the damage she's doing to herself. You can access the original article here.
Learning from a young age means nothing if she didn't learn properly to begin with. I don't know what the heck she is thinking, but just because her throat feels fine now doesn't mean she won't have problems down the road.
I wonder if some of her quotes were taken out of context. I can't believe anyone is THAT ignorant about their business.
