Not since N'Sync released "Celebrity" in the summer of 2001 has an album sold more than 1 million copies in the first week of release. That is until Norah Jones released her follow-up to "Come Away With Me." Her new album, "Feels Like Home" has sold 1,022,149 copies last week.
"This is the kind of achievement that one can only expect from a truly original, extraordinary artist like Norah," Bruce Lundvall, head of Blue Note Records, Jones' label, said Wednesday.
"It's not very often that an artist can span so many genres and enjoy such broad appeal. But that's what happens when the music is this good."
I think it's a sign of the times. It's not Britney or Christina or Justin that could manage this, but a good, honest, quality artist like Norah Jones who could manage it.
The album is still selling good, even showing signs of selling more this week than last week.
Good Lord, am I the only one who isn't impressed with Miss Jones talent? At least she's better than John Mayer. Now he's a big bore who can't sing live.
