Fantasia Barrino and Diana Degarmo in American Idols Final

Today the final two would be made known. Who would fight for the title "American Idol"? Of course we wouldn't find that out until the end of the one hour show.
At the beginning of the show Ryan Seacrest asked the audience who they thought who would go home. Almost the entire audience screamed: Jasmine.
Ryan asked each of the contestants if they thought they have done enough to stay in the competition. Jasmine Trias said: "I gave my best every week." Fantasia Barrino said: "I think so, Everyone worked hard every week, and I tried to be different each week". Diana Degarmo said that she gave her 100% each week.
Tamyra Gray performed a song called "You are a star". It sounded good, but it didn't move me. During the performance they showed videos from the auditions, and some video of the 12 top contestants at the Hollywood house they lived in during the competition.
The Australian winner of Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian was on the show to perform. Looking at his hair he looked kinda like Jack Osbourne (decide yourself if that is a good or a bad thing). His record is the best selling in Australian history, his record went platinum five times. His advice for the contestants was to take everything in. He then performed his song called 'Angels brought me here'. His performance was really good for an Australian, as you couldn't hear any Australian accent during his singing.
To fill the hour this week they played a video from each contestant featuring their trip home last weekend. They first showed Jasmine going back to Hawaii. There it was announced that May 13th would then be known as Jasmine Trias day. She went back to her high school called 'MaryKnoll High school' she said she got incredible amazing support. Then they did a recap of the songs and the comments.
After the break Ryan first had a talk with Tamyra, where it was announced that she co-wrote a single for this years winner called 'I Believe'. Both finalists will sing it next week, and the winner will have that song released as a single. This is to clearly make a quick buck out of the AI-rage, but they of course did not mention that part. Tamyra's new album will be released next Tuesday and she sang a song from that album called 'Raindrops will fall' which was a good performance.
After that it was time for the clip from Fantasia's trip home. She went to Highpoint, N.C. where she visited radio, tv, and her old elementary school. She stopped by a furniture store where her grandfather worked. She was given a lounge chair. She also received the key to the city from the mayor. She went to her church for a pot luck dinner. Ryan asked if she ate chitlins (whatever that is) and she replied that she didn't have that, but she did have pig's feet. She got a recap of her songs and the comments aswell. And choked up with emotion. ( good emotions! )
Diana looked very nervous for her clips. She went to a TV station, where she also did the weather forecast, which was quite funny to see. You saw her being at home, with her two dogs. She was picked up by a limo to go to the mayor. For that trip she even had a police escort with their lights on during which she remarked "I got blue lights!". She had a CD signing at a store ( which to us looked like a Walmart. ). Then she went to her high school "Shiloh" and then she got her recap of the songs and the comments.
It finally was time to torture us with the weekly clip. This time it was the song "Somebody's watching me". And all of the contestants were followed by paparazzi. First when they woke up, up to where she was driving a car and finally when they went to bed. It was amazingly amusing. Either I lost my feeling for humor by all the bad clips from the weeks before or they actually made a good clip this week.
The judges were asked for advice for the person that would leave this week. Paula said that the person should "follow their heart and soul". Simon congratulated all the contestants as he thought the show from last night was one of hte best shows ever.
It was finally time to announce who would leave the show this week: It was Jasmine Trias.
Jasmine was smiling when she heard she was leaving, however her family looked disappointed.
Jasmine had to flip a coin to decide who got to choose who would go first next week, Fantasia choose Heads, and Diana choose Tails. The coin landed on Heads and Fantasia choose that she would like to go second next week.
Jasmine was asked to perform her song as a goodbye. Normally it has always been the song that they sang the day before, however Ryan asked Jasmine to sing 'Inseperable'. It was a good performance, her voice sounded great with this song. Most people will also agree that the best performance from her in the whole competition from her was that song. That is probably why they asked Jasmine to sing that song.

Curlio I'm suprised at you! As u couldn't hear an australian accent and that makes it good? What is wrong with an australian accent? No wonder there is so much racial prejudice on this notice board

It's the battle of the Divas!!
It gotta be Fantasia!! I always enjoy watching her... She's so full of energy & vibres on stage and she could really captured the audience attention. . . . Diana is a contrast, young and refreshing and she could really hit thoses high notes!!! I'm not surprise if Diana would be crown the next A.I!

I agree with Kemi regarding the Australian accent comment. It's just ridiculous that anyone could judge the quality of a singer based simply on the fact that their native accent wasn't so distinct during singing.
Perhaps it just makes it easier for some to close their eyes and indulge in the narrow minded view that everyone in the world should look and sound the same. How sad.

yes I agree with you kemi, accent has nothing to do with talent and the fact that someone judged His performance based on his accent, it means that that person might be judging the idols according to the colour of their skin. Isn't that a great conspracy theory LOL

For the record, that was Dusty, he reviews the results show, I do the main show.
As for his statement, it's not really prejudiced, it's simply that great singers seem to "rise above" their accent. Listen to a lot of artists on the radio and you'll notice it's hard to tell where they come from simply by the way they sing, as the accent just seems to fall off. That's the sign of someone who has been trained very well or simply has a natural ability. It's not that the accent is "bad" or "good", it's just when you're singing it should drop off.

I thought that all three of them were mediocre at best, giving up performances that are no different than what was prevalent on Star Search, 2 decades ago. I wish there was SOMETHING on the show other than just diva ballads and lame lame lame LAME 60s standards.
But hey, I've only seen two episodes, so i could be way wrong about this. But honestly, dont you guys get BORED with the formula crap they're throwing up there now? Next week is going to be a mariah-fest. Augh.

I WASN'T GOING TO RESPOND TO THIS BUT......
YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOO IGNORANT. SIMPLY BECAUSE FANTASIA HAD A CHILD - MADE A MISTAKE - AND WAS ABLE TO RISE ABOVE IT, DREAM, DO THE IMPOSSIBLE, MAKES HER ENTITLED TO WEAR THE AI CROWN.
WHAT A GREAT TESTIMONY FOR ALL THE MILLIONS OF TEENAGERS WHO LOSE HEART BECAUSE OF MISTAKES, PEER PRESSURE, ETC. PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THE REASON THERE IS CHAOS IN THE WORLD.
NEXT WEEK WILL PROVE TO BE A GREAT BATTLE. WOULD I CALL IT "THE BATTLE OF THE DIVAS"? NO, NO, NO! DIANA ALONE IS JUST NOT UP TO THAT CALIBER. HAD IT BEEN FANTASIA AND LATOYA - YES, IT WOULD BE THE BATTLE OF THE DIVAS.
DIANA WILL DEFINITELY PROVE WHY SHE IS IN THE FINAL 2 - I'M SURE SHE WILL PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS. SHE BETTER BRING IT ON THOUGH BECAUSE I DON'T SEE FANTASIA JUST HANDING HER THE TITLE.

I skip em...my guess is most people do, FYI.
My vote would go to Fantasia if I could call em in, eh!
I would have been looking forward to final show more if it were between Jennifer/Fantasia or Latoya/Fantasia ~ but what can you do?
Go Fantasia~

"... second as a single mom at age of 19? what will tell this to our american youth?"
This is exactly why Fantasia will never be the American Idol. Ignorant Ultra Right-Wing fundies will throw a fit if it happens. And you can bet there will be a large ballot-stuffing campaign to prevent it. I know it sounds a lot like a tinfoil hat prediction, but I've seen religious nutters stoop to much more pathetic levels to force their opinions upon other people.

Thank God, pressure from Jasmine is done. I admire her strength in facing all the pressures and all unpleasant comments she got from the judges. Last night, she looked very relax, sweet and beautiful inspite of all the things that happened. Jasmine, it is not the end of the world yet. If God closes the door, He will open the windows for you. You are great, smart and pretty. I suggest someday you also join the Miss Hawaii beauty contest and who knows you might win and become representative of Hawaii for Miss USA or Miss America.
The 84 millions Filipinos from the Philippines and millions of Filipinos living abroad are very, very proud of you. Be strong and be positive. Miracles happen everyday.
Remember you are in the top 3 of the American Idol Part 3. As for me and your millions of fans, that's a huge accomplishment. Your support in Hawaii is vey amazing. Lots of people as compared to Fantasia and Diana. Anyway, all the best in your career and God bless you and your family.

Shut the * up! Are you kidding me with this manure?! Do you really think all the Fantasia fans are gonna go out and have babies or something? As a single mom at the age of 19, she's doing better than anyone I know. She's talented, famous, and on her way to the top. Gee, that's really horrible. She's a GREAT idol. There aren't too many 19 yr old virgins left out there. It's not like she's the only one. Are you suggesting we keep her out of the limelight, and let her child grow up with an unsuccessful mother? You, my dear, are an idiot.

I agree with you 100% If we knew half the crap that are in peoples past or even present we would probably be shocked. Who cares what happened in her past. What's important is what is she doing in the present and what does she dream to do in the future.

I guess my vote will now be for Diana. I just really don't like Fantasia's voice, but she will do very well rather she wins or not. She is a very good showman. My favorites were Latoya and George, until I found out that he is a Sooner! Just kidding, sota.
