Fantasia Barrino and Diana Degarmo in American Idols Final

Today the final two would be made known. Who would fight for the title "American Idol"? Of course we wouldn't find that out until the end of the one hour show.
At the beginning of the show Ryan Seacrest asked the audience who they thought who would go home. Almost the entire audience screamed: Jasmine.
Ryan asked each of the contestants if they thought they have done enough to stay in the competition. Jasmine Trias said: "I gave my best every week." Fantasia Barrino said: "I think so, Everyone worked hard every week, and I tried to be different each week". Diana Degarmo said that she gave her 100% each week.
Tamyra Gray performed a song called "You are a star". It sounded good, but it didn't move me. During the performance they showed videos from the auditions, and some video of the 12 top contestants at the Hollywood house they lived in during the competition.
The Australian winner of Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian was on the show to perform. Looking at his hair he looked kinda like Jack Osbourne (decide yourself if that is a good or a bad thing). His record is the best selling in Australian history, his record went platinum five times. His advice for the contestants was to take everything in. He then performed his song called 'Angels brought me here'. His performance was really good for an Australian, as you couldn't hear any Australian accent during his singing.
To fill the hour this week they played a video from each contestant featuring their trip home last weekend. They first showed Jasmine going back to Hawaii. There it was announced that May 13th would then be known as Jasmine Trias day. She went back to her high school called 'MaryKnoll High school' she said she got incredible amazing support. Then they did a recap of the songs and the comments.
After the break Ryan first had a talk with Tamyra, where it was announced that she co-wrote a single for this years winner called 'I Believe'. Both finalists will sing it next week, and the winner will have that song released as a single. This is to clearly make a quick buck out of the AI-rage, but they of course did not mention that part. Tamyra's new album will be released next Tuesday and she sang a song from that album called 'Raindrops will fall' which was a good performance.
After that it was time for the clip from Fantasia's trip home. She went to Highpoint, N.C. where she visited radio, tv, and her old elementary school. She stopped by a furniture store where her grandfather worked. She was given a lounge chair. She also received the key to the city from the mayor. She went to her church for a pot luck dinner. Ryan asked if she ate chitlins (whatever that is) and she replied that she didn't have that, but she did have pig's feet. She got a recap of her songs and the comments aswell. And choked up with emotion. ( good emotions! )
Diana looked very nervous for her clips. She went to a TV station, where she also did the weather forecast, which was quite funny to see. You saw her being at home, with her two dogs. She was picked up by a limo to go to the mayor. For that trip she even had a police escort with their lights on during which she remarked "I got blue lights!". She had a CD signing at a store ( which to us looked like a Walmart. ). Then she went to her high school "Shiloh" and then she got her recap of the songs and the comments.
It finally was time to torture us with the weekly clip. This time it was the song "Somebody's watching me". And all of the contestants were followed by paparazzi. First when they woke up, up to where she was driving a car and finally when they went to bed. It was amazingly amusing. Either I lost my feeling for humor by all the bad clips from the weeks before or they actually made a good clip this week.
The judges were asked for advice for the person that would leave this week. Paula said that the person should "follow their heart and soul". Simon congratulated all the contestants as he thought the show from last night was one of hte best shows ever.
It was finally time to announce who would leave the show this week: It was Jasmine Trias.
Jasmine was smiling when she heard she was leaving, however her family looked disappointed.
Jasmine had to flip a coin to decide who got to choose who would go first next week, Fantasia choose Heads, and Diana choose Tails. The coin landed on Heads and Fantasia choose that she would like to go second next week.
Jasmine was asked to perform her song as a goodbye. Normally it has always been the song that they sang the day before, however Ryan asked Jasmine to sing 'Inseperable'. It was a good performance, her voice sounded great with this song. Most people will also agree that the best performance from her in the whole competition from her was that song. That is probably why they asked Jasmine to sing that song.

God how I hate reading BOLD FONT POSTS.
I skip em...my guess is most people do, FYI.
My vote would go to Fantasia if I could call em in, eh!
I would have been looking forward to final show more if it were between Jennifer/Fantasia or Latoya/Fantasia ~ but what can you do?
Go Fantasia~
Actually I read this post and thought it was right on. This person obviously felt very passionate about what they wrote. What better way to convey that then to write it in bold font.
Nothing against you Starfishy;)

"... second as a single mom at age of 19? what will tell this to our american youth?"
This is exactly why Fantasia will never be the American Idol. Ignorant Ultra Right-Wing fundies will throw a fit if it happens. And you can bet there will be a large ballot-stuffing campaign to prevent it. I know it sounds a lot like a tinfoil hat prediction, but I've seen religious nutters stoop to much more pathetic levels to force their opinions upon other people.
I take GREAT offense to what you have written.
First of all, what does bringing politics into this issue have to do with anything? By bringing the subject of politics into this issue you may convey to others that you just might have a chip on your shoulder. Because it has absolutely nothing to do with American Idol.
Secondly, I happen to be an independent who is proud of the country that I call my home and am happy to have been blessed to live here.
Thirdly, if you would have done your homework you would have observed that Fantasia is very much attached to her family and the church that she attends. She has a very "free" spirit and does not at all appear to be a religious "nut" case. This may come as a shock to you but attending church and believing in an awesome creator does not make one "a religious nutty fanatic" and an automatic "right winger" Believing that way is extemely narrow minded. Fantasia's past, is her PAST. I have a lot of respect for what she has been able to accomplish with her life so far...to her the sky is truly the limit. And, that is coming from someone who you would unfortunatley refer to as a "religious fanatic."
Of course, I know that I and many others are not. You need to open your mind and allow it to expand outside of your intellectual box.
You've expressed your freedom of speech, and now so have I. Now, isn't that the beauty of living in a free country?:)

Curlio I'm suprised at you! As u couldn't hear an australian accent and that makes it good? What is wrong with an australian accent? No wonder there is so much racial prejudice on this notice board
First of all, it was ME who posted the article ( see the editor name at the right top of the article? )
Second of all, I am Dutch, I do have a small accent myself. I do like australian accents just when they talk, not when they sing. That has really nothing to do with racial prejudice, more with personal preference.
I *DID* like his performance, because it was a good performance.
Sometimes an accent when singing could be good, but that is really a personal preference. Like when the irish sing, it's an accent that can fit their type of songs (mostly drinking songs for some reason :+) very well. However let them sing a mainstream song in their accent and it will sound terrible. The same counts for an Australian accent, it can sound very good for certain type of songs ( mostly humor songs in their case ). But a mainstream song wouldn't sound very good.

Then you read his post wrong.
First of all, what does bringing politics into this issue have to do with anything? By bringing the subject of politics into this issue you may convey to others that you just might have a chip on your shoulder. Because it has absolutely nothing to do with American Idol.
It has to do with the extreme right wing, they want to force their opinion on the whole society, as AI is a part of society it's a great way to get their opinion heard.
He didn't call her a religious "nut" case. He called the extreme-right wingers religious nut cases. This may come as a shock to you but attending church and believing in an awesome creator does not make one "a religious nutty fanatic" and an automatic "right winger" Believing that way is extemely narrow minded. No, but very often being an extreme right winger makes you automaticallya religious nutty fanatic. Fantasia's past, is her PAST. And, that is coming from someone who you would unfortunatley refer to as a "religious fanatic." That's exactly what he said, that Fantasia's past is her past, and that it should be left behind, but the religious fanatics think it's wrong to be a single mom, and they will try to make sure she doesn't succeed. You clearly support Fantasia, that immediately excludes you from being a religious fanatic. Of course, I know that I and many others are not. You need to open your mind and allow it to expand outside of your intellectual box. Neither is he, you just misread his post and took it the wrong way. You both are on the same side :)

Obsidious did not "bring politics" into this; he was responding to someone else's post. There have also been a few other posts decrying Fantasia for the "sin" of unwed motherhood. It should be irrelevant to the competition, but like it or not, politics do have a role in determining AI, especially if people vote for political reasons. Finally, I think you missed his point; he's not attacking all christians, but rather the fundamentalists who insist on forcing their viewpoint on others.

I appreciate you taking the time to expand on the post that I responded to.
But, clearly supporting Fantasia does not automatically exlcude me from being a religious fanatic. That's a choice that I make from within.
I support her because she has an unbelieveable stage presence, a unique artistic edge, and sings with alot of passion and soul.
Religion and Politics have absolutely nothing to do with American Idol. It shouldn't that is. Our choice should be made entirely on the person's ability and talent.
I realize that this webboard is not a country. To think that it is would mean that I am a complete fool. :P
Thanks for giving people the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings. It is unfortunate though that some have stooped to the level of making this subject a race, political, or religious issue when in fact it is merely a talent show looking for hopefully awesome talent that needs without a doubt to revamp a voting system that stinks.
I have surfed the web and I will say that this webboard is by far the best. Once again Thank You.;)

The few things that I have would like to say are; there are many youth, young adults, and adults who have had "abortions” simply because of what the next door neighbors, the churches, teachers, and parents may say about their pregnancy. However, at least she had her child. If being an "AI"singer is based on not having children then, maybe they need to not only check contestant’s background, check their clinical records. Oh what a day! I've worked in the nursing field for 20 years. Some of you men who are writing, if that's the case, some wives has had abortions yes, the husband doesn't know! You women who a speaking, I guess because you are so righteous, if we were a fly on the wall mmmmmmmmm. Many children come in with cousins, aunts, friends, etc. The thought of kicking her off the show wouldn't come out of your mouth. I don't uphold her for having a child but, check your house out before speaking negatively about others. She's a great singer (Fantasia). If she doesn't win, she will get a contract. Jennifer and Latoya have both gone on to better things and are doing well. The entire contestant’s chosen are winners, they made it out of thousands. Let's think positive for a change, the average person who speaks negatively are usually negative all the time.

I appreciate you filling me in on that. I do agree with you regarding the fundamentalists. Legalistic views completely make me sick. They think that by pushing their views down peoples throats is the right thing to do....you know think our way or go to He** This type of behavior only turns people completely off and makes them want to run the other direction.
So, thanks for your input...very much appreciated

To me fundamentalists are fanatical about their religion. People that like their religion, but still make up their own mind I would not call fanatical about their religion, but more supportive and fond of their religion.

You know it is great that she had her child. To her it didn't matter what anyone else thought.
I don't however believe that one should blame society entirely for a personnal decision to have an abortion.
I guess it shows just how awesome Fanatasia really is. She didn't allow any outside source to persuade her from doing what her heart apparently was telling her, and that was to have her child, and not abort it.
Gee, see now here we are on another subject that really should not have anything to do with AI...and unfortunately I've responded to it. You know what? I am not going to and I would like it if others would hold me to it. Let's talk about the music. :o

Finally, Hawaiians have run out of votes and some degree of sanity was restored to the program. I grew tired of her braying and incompetence and was growing to resent Islanders for foisting her on us week after week. I'll admit she was easy on the eyes, but hard on the ears. Have a nice life, Hawaiian Hottie. But good riddance.
Also, regarding Fantasia, no doubt she shouldn't be allowed to be a contestant on AI. She ought to be in jail for having a baby as a teenager. All teenagers who violate the sanctity of the hyman should be in jail. The world would be a lot better that way. (that's sarcasm, by the way, just so nobody gets confused).

Diana is also a better role model for young girls

How stupid to mention Fantasia would be getting racist remarks if she won. What about Ruben? He beat out a white guy....wow!!!!! To even mention colour is really immature....they are people...white, black, purple..who cares??? I'd not vote for Fantasia because I don't like her voice..not because she isn't white like me!!!!!

To the person who wrote this ..... your lack of intelligence shows here. Hawaii could not have advanced Jasmine week after week, our population isn't large enough to do that.
As for Fantasia, why put her in jail for being responsible enough at age 19 to have that baby and care for it. I think you need to go back and educate yourself a little more or put yourself in a mental institution.
Jasmine is out, leave her alone already. She's had enough thrown at her by rude people such as yourself. It's time to keep your idiotic comments to yourself,,it really makes you look like you have no sense at all.

It really said the following at the bottom of the post: (that's sarcasm, by the way, just so nobody gets confused). According to webster the meaning of sarcasm: Function: noun
1 : a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain <tired of continual sarcasms>
2 a : a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual b : the use or language of sarcasm <this is no time to indulge in sarcasm>

My husband and I have become avid fans. My husband was a proffesional singer for 20 years and our son was proffesional since he was in elementary school. So we are pretty knowledgable voters. I hit that phone the second they stop performing and try to vote for that 2 hour period. At least 4-5 weeks I could not vote. Either you need more lines or somehow they are jamming your lines. It's very infuriating, especially when talent like Jennifer and Latoya are voted off. I've talked to many people who have had the same voting experience. I hope this can be remedied.
Thank you.
