Fantasia Barrino and Diana Degarmo in American Idols Final

Today the final two would be made known. Who would fight for the title "American Idol"? Of course we wouldn't find that out until the end of the one hour show.
At the beginning of the show Ryan Seacrest asked the audience who they thought who would go home. Almost the entire audience screamed: Jasmine.
Ryan asked each of the contestants if they thought they have done enough to stay in the competition. Jasmine Trias said: "I gave my best every week." Fantasia Barrino said: "I think so, Everyone worked hard every week, and I tried to be different each week". Diana Degarmo said that she gave her 100% each week.
Tamyra Gray performed a song called "You are a star". It sounded good, but it didn't move me. During the performance they showed videos from the auditions, and some video of the 12 top contestants at the Hollywood house they lived in during the competition.
The Australian winner of Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian was on the show to perform. Looking at his hair he looked kinda like Jack Osbourne (decide yourself if that is a good or a bad thing). His record is the best selling in Australian history, his record went platinum five times. His advice for the contestants was to take everything in. He then performed his song called 'Angels brought me here'. His performance was really good for an Australian, as you couldn't hear any Australian accent during his singing.
To fill the hour this week they played a video from each contestant featuring their trip home last weekend. They first showed Jasmine going back to Hawaii. There it was announced that May 13th would then be known as Jasmine Trias day. She went back to her high school called 'MaryKnoll High school' she said she got incredible amazing support. Then they did a recap of the songs and the comments.
After the break Ryan first had a talk with Tamyra, where it was announced that she co-wrote a single for this years winner called 'I Believe'. Both finalists will sing it next week, and the winner will have that song released as a single. This is to clearly make a quick buck out of the AI-rage, but they of course did not mention that part. Tamyra's new album will be released next Tuesday and she sang a song from that album called 'Raindrops will fall' which was a good performance.
After that it was time for the clip from Fantasia's trip home. She went to Highpoint, N.C. where she visited radio, tv, and her old elementary school. She stopped by a furniture store where her grandfather worked. She was given a lounge chair. She also received the key to the city from the mayor. She went to her church for a pot luck dinner. Ryan asked if she ate chitlins (whatever that is) and she replied that she didn't have that, but she did have pig's feet. She got a recap of her songs and the comments aswell. And choked up with emotion. ( good emotions! )
Diana looked very nervous for her clips. She went to a TV station, where she also did the weather forecast, which was quite funny to see. You saw her being at home, with her two dogs. She was picked up by a limo to go to the mayor. For that trip she even had a police escort with their lights on during which she remarked "I got blue lights!". She had a CD signing at a store ( which to us looked like a Walmart. ). Then she went to her high school "Shiloh" and then she got her recap of the songs and the comments.
It finally was time to torture us with the weekly clip. This time it was the song "Somebody's watching me". And all of the contestants were followed by paparazzi. First when they woke up, up to where she was driving a car and finally when they went to bed. It was amazingly amusing. Either I lost my feeling for humor by all the bad clips from the weeks before or they actually made a good clip this week.
The judges were asked for advice for the person that would leave this week. Paula said that the person should "follow their heart and soul". Simon congratulated all the contestants as he thought the show from last night was one of hte best shows ever.
It was finally time to announce who would leave the show this week: It was Jasmine Trias.
Jasmine was smiling when she heard she was leaving, however her family looked disappointed.
Jasmine had to flip a coin to decide who got to choose who would go first next week, Fantasia choose Heads, and Diana choose Tails. The coin landed on Heads and Fantasia choose that she would like to go second next week.
Jasmine was asked to perform her song as a goodbye. Normally it has always been the song that they sang the day before, however Ryan asked Jasmine to sing 'Inseperable'. It was a good performance, her voice sounded great with this song. Most people will also agree that the best performance from her in the whole competition from her was that song. That is probably why they asked Jasmine to sing that song.

I as well as others are sick and tired of the racist comments that are being made. At first it was somewhat tolerable (I thought it would just fizzle out) But it has not it has only almost completely taken over this webboard. Racist comments and self-righteous attitudes make most people sick.
 Here here!
It is a shame that this rudeness has creeped onto the board like maggots with a mission...

lets really try to start ignoring skynet's comments. he said himself that he only says stuff to get a rise out of others. therefore, he/she is on the internet looking just looking for attention. let's try not to give him what he wants

I am so excited!!! I am so happy to hear all the talk about Fantasia! I love her and there's no publicity like negative publicity! It means she is definitely on your minds...each and every one of you.
I think what the problem with Fantasia and the people who don't like her is that she is so "in your face" with who she is and you can't seem to stop her and it kills you. Well get over it. Thanks for the publicity and keeping her uppermost in the mind of the viewers.
Always remember, negative publicity is better than none at all. Everytime you "trash" Fantasia, you give her more publicity. Look at the Osbournes...disfunctional, drug abusers and the list goes on...and America has embraced them as a family. (Sad, isn't it?)
It shouldn't matter about Fantasia's personal life. I don't condone having children out of wedlock, but the sex is the sin...not having the baby. Also, since a lot of writers seem to be playing "God" on this website, you may want to remember that God frowns on the sex when you're not married, not having the baby.
And realistically, how many of you, if judged on your own personal life could say you are different from Fantasia? You're not...God doesn't have two types of fornication..."okay fornication" 'cause no child was born out of wedlock and "baby-born fornication" cause she had a child out of wedlock...
Fornication is fornication and anyone who has ever committed fornication is exactly the same as Fantasia in that aspect.
Again, thanks for the Fantasia publicity!! Keep it going!!

Marriage is largely a Christian institution.
People who do not subscribe to religion don't make bad people, you know. They can be FAR MORE compassionate than those who use religion to JUDGE and LABEL others (which is a BIGGER problem in our society).
 Can you hear me clapping?

"and society would be stronger if we did not condone and accept it. "
Maybe you support kids having sex, but no adult in their right mind would. Just because your scard of a teenager doesn't mean parents should give up and go buy their kids a box of condoms. Some moms and dads are acually PARENTS, and not their kids best friend.
"who cares if ya'll need a role model? if ya'll have enough sense to know which is right from the wrong to follow"
Wait till you have an 8 year old girl, and she starts dressing like Brittany Spears. Then come back and comment.
There is a thing called peer pressure, and while a 14 year old girl may know it's wrong. That doesn't stop her from having sex and trying to fit in.
The last thing teenage girls need is role models who dress and acts like ho's
Teenage boys and girls shouldn't be having sex. It doesn't take rocket science to know that

How many times did Fantasia sleep with her baby's father? And how many times has she had sex? And with how many people?
You guys obviously know because you keep calling her a loose woman.
She has really got you people in a tizzy! It is hysterical to see how much power she has over folks!
Like they say, it's when people STOP talking about you that you have to worry. Keep it up!
I feel good because all the trashing lets me know that you folks are truly threatened deep down inside that she will walk away with the title. But even if she doesn't, when Clive Davis, founder of Arista records, tells you that he would sign you TONIGHT if he could, you don't have a thing to worry about!!
FANTASIA!! FANTASIA!! FANTASIA!!

 Glad you love Fantasia,
But can we put a HALT on the freaking bible thumping here?
There are a LOT of us here who ARE NOT coming to this page to get a sermon. I have NO INTEREST in religion, and I have NO INTEREST in the moral soap box sermons. You have your beliefs...good for you. Please don't foist them on the rest of us!
There are a lot of us who are responsible, healthy, and enjoy sex without the hang-ups or being burnt at the stake so mind your own beeswax!
If I want to hear a sermon, I will go to church. If I want to chat about AI, I come here...please keep your list-of-sins sermons out of the boards!

You know it is great that she had her child. To her it didn't matter what anyone else thought.
I don't however believe that one should blame society entirely for a personnal decision to have an abortion.
I guess it shows just how awesome Fanatasia really is. She didn't allow any outside source to persuade her from doing what her heart apparently was telling her, and that was to have her child, and not abort it.
Gee, see now here we are on another subject that really should not have anything to do with AI...and unfortunately I've responded to it. You know what? I am not going to and I would like it if others would hold me to it. Let's talk about the music.
I am responding to the person who added the above post. I am the nurse who wrote an article earlier. You mentioned that we've gone on to another subject let's talk about something else. If you ask me, I've read all the articles and most of them are writing about "something else" other than the music. Since, I do know what I'm talking about, I added my post. One person can't talk about the other especially when it comes to having a child before marriage. There are so many people young and old who have aborted their children and no one other than God and the doctor knows. That's my opinion; at least she (Fantasia) did have her child.

Starfishy, you're right. Chrisitians would never be this judgemental.

FOR THE REST OF YOU WHO ARE DOWNING FANTASIA>>
Right is right and wrong is wrong and God is the judge of all sinners, not you idiots who keep writing about teenage mothers trying to get a record contract.
Get a life...and a husband while you're at it...then maybe you could relax and enjoy a television show without being so envious and analyzing the sex life of the contestants!

VERY WELL PUT...MIND YOUR OWN BEESWAX>>>>>
Interesting words...now let's keep that in mind when we discuss Fantasia's personal life.
LISTEN TO THE MUSIC...MAKE A VOTE...AND GET A LIFE.
p.s. What is the definition of "fornicating responsibly?"
What a play on words!!!

I have to say, both Fantasia and Diana would be interesting to watch in different ways. Diana is young and fun and Fantasia has a lot of soul about her and gets into the hearts of people.
I probably favor Fantasia because she is proving that she can beat the odds. That doesn't make her the AI, it just makes me like her more. My friend and I voted for her a total of 275 times. I am going to try to do the same next week.
Both girls would be good AI's! Good luck to them both!

I too will be voting for Fantasia next week. I think both girls are equally strong singers, though their styles differ. There's just something about Fantasia that sets her apart. I won't be disappointed either way, but Fantasia is definitely my favorite.

Can I ask everyone a question? By now we have all chosen our favourite. But if your chosen singer has a bad day and the other has a very good performance would you switch, not vote or just go ahead and vote for a poor performance anyway?

Fantasia is better than Diana in my opinion. I can't really explain why, it's just the feeling I have. I'm torn if she should win though, as it seems that the runner-ups generally have a better carreer :)

I think the genre that suits each singer is so different that it's not really a "competition" anymore...not in the sense of who is "more talented".
I prefer Fantasia because I feel that Diana is very "bublegum teen" pop and I just don't like that style. I LOVE the music that Fantasia sings.
Can you believe there were THAT many talented people on the show this year (excluding Jon/John, of course..)?
I think ultimately it will come down to how many people will vote for a particular genre (and how many times) because these women are SO different stylistically.

I just read a few comments about GUY. Am writing from Australia...the reason he sang sooooo well and has no Aussie accent is because he was born in Malaysia..his parents are malaysian indian and he moved to Oz in 1986.

Unfortunately I cannot vote as I am a Canadian. But I will watch the show and enjoy it. We have our favorites but Fantasia and Diana are both very good and either one would make a good AI. Fantasia has stage presence and knows just what to do and how to please the audience. I think that is what will make the difference.
Either way ladies - good luck!

I used to be a Jasmine fan--mainly because she was the only one of the top 4 who wouldn't scream. Now that she's out, I'm gonna support Diana. I think she has a much better voice than Fantasia and who cares about stage presence. When you buy a CD--that doesn't matter a hill of beans anyway.
