The final six are now down to five and it is getting harder for the voters to decide who should go. Ben said the votes between the lowest three contestants are getting very close. That is a sign that the voters are finding it more difficult to decide on who should leave.
The show opened with a medley of Gordon Lightfoot songs and the singers accompanied themselves on their own instruments. Jason Greeley and Jacob Hoggard on guitar, Kalan Porter on fiddle, Elena Juatco on piano, Shane Weibe on bass and Theresa Sokyrka on mandolin.
Billy Klipert who was a runner-up on Idol last year brought his band along and sang his latest hit "Again". He was well received.
Before the night went any further it was announced that Elena, Shane and Jacob were the bottom three contestants. Shane was sent back to the couch safe for another week. Elena and Jacob performed their songs from the night before. Finally Elena was announced as the next contestant to go. The judges were asked if they felt that the bottom three should be there and the judges said that at this time in the game good contestants will have to go. They should be proud of themselves to have gotten to this point. Jake went so far as to say that he wished they could all stay.
Next week the final five Jason, Jacob, Theresa, Kalan and Shane will return to sing "Summertime Hits". Gary Beals (an idol contestant from last season) will return to idol and perform a song from his newly released album.
Also on the program next week the contestants will appear at the Canadian Exhibition and we will see clips from the final five's time there.
I'd have to agree with the guy with the "ROBBED" sign in the audience when Elena was eliminated... she was definitely robbed of at least one more week in the competition. She deserved that week SO much.
