Latoya London, a former "American Idol" contestant, has recently signed with independent record label Peak Records.
A part-time professional singer going into the "Idol" competition, London was considered the competitor to beat in the show's third season. But just two weeks after an early May Billboard.com poll voted the Oakland, Calif., native the clear favorite to win, she came up short in viewer votes on the Fox show, which eventually anointed Fantasia Barrino as the current "Idol."
London will hit the studio this January where she will begin recording original material and covers, and hopes to release her debut album sometime during the summer of 2005.
This made my year! Miss London should have won that contest. No doubt about that. Instead we get Miss Ghetto 2004. UGH!! I can't wait to be able to walk into a store and buy a LaToya London CD!! :-)
So nice to see that LaToya London got a deal! Looking forward to purchasing her CD. LaToya, Jennifer and Fantasia were absolutely the best of the bunch on American Idol 3. Depending on your musical taste, any of the 3 could be viewed as the best. Why Fantasia has received some unfair and uncalled for comments from some makes you more aware about how stupid we can be sometimes.
Well I am so disappointed in the fact that Fantasia would actually come out with a song by the title of "Baby Mama." I was a big fan of hers during American Idol but at this point she deserves to be called "Ghetto." I'm also disappointed in Jermaine Dupree for allowing a sister to promote such a sad way of life. Yes, being a Baby Mama is sad state of being, not to be confused with the noble efforts and plights that many single parent women in the past, present and future have to deal with. Something's should not be glorified! Hey Fantasia, how about singing about family, togetherness, love, and respect. Why sing about getting knocked up by someone who just wanted to bust a nut and cut and now all you have is a * Child? I really don't understand how you can just lower yourself and every other Beautiful Black woman in your same position down to the level of just being a Ghetto type woman! There is no excuse in the world!
