American Idol has predictable results

The results of American Idol were brief and predictable. The show was shortened to a mere 30 minutes this week, for some unexplained reason. I'm wondering if Fox learned their lesson after fans of the show bashed the producers' humiliating way of eliminating contestants last week. Approximately 42 million people voted for their favorites on American Idol this week.

Up first was a talk with the judges, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell. They all seemed to echo the same thoughts - that it's about singing a song well, regardless of anything else. Ryan Seacrest talked to Simon about country music. Simon said that it's like every other genre, there are bad songs and good songs.

Celena Rae was the first person to be eliminated. She had the lowest votes of the girls. Ryan talked to her, and apparently she nailed the song in dress rehearsal. Randy and Paula told her to keep trying and going forward.

Ryan then talked to the girls again. Nadia Turner said she was just nervous when she failed that last note. Then it was time for either Aloha Mischeaux or Vonzell Solomon to leave the show. Ryan said that Aloha had to change her song at the last minute. It seemed to be because they couldn't get a release for the song she wanted to do. Unfortunately that weighed against her too much, and she was voted off. The judges agreed that she shouldn't be leaving the show, as she sang better than some of the other contestants. I presume they were at the very least talking about Janay Castine - who was very relieved to not be going home.

Then we moved on to a very quick elimination of the guys. As the guys had the most humiliating elimination last week, I think this was deliberately done. Joseph Murena, David Brown, Mario Vazquez, and Travis Tucker were told to come stand on either side of Ryan. At this point, you had to know it wouldn't be Mario leaving. He's got legions of young, mostly female, fans voting for him. To be honest, I think he should keep his hats on though, as I really didn't think his hair was all that flattering. Sure enough, he was the first to be told he was safe. I was hoping Travis would be safe next, as he's a pretty good singer, and becoming one of my favorites. Luckily for all of his fans, he was indeed safe. That meant that Joseph and David would be going home this week. Joseph it turned out had the lowest number of votes. He attributed this to lack of airtime. I think that is partially right, but he picked very bad songs and just didn't do anything too memorable in the last two weeks. Great performances can overcome lack of airtime. The problem comes when people who have worse performances get to stay, and I don't think that happened in his case. David was told by Paula that he just lacked that magical spark that was in his earlier audition performances.

So, what do you think? Is airtime to blame for Joseph's lack of votes? Who should have gone that didn't? Let your voice be heard!

	i agree...it's more of last year...good ones gone..bad ones still there...i'm losing interest...i think the entertainer is better...sorry...they lost me as a viewer...

	Janay Janay Janay, Are we hearing the same girl everyone else is hearing? How is she still here? But anyway our family likes Bo and Carrie. But honestly I think the rest of the guys should go on and leave the ladies home.

	With the exception of a few girls the guys have it this year. Bo is the only performer I would pay to see. I think he has a good chance. If song selection is key, bo is on top.

	I was disappointed that the show was cut short to a half hour. I like the drama of elimination. I also like the loser singing their swan song. The previous shows provided better entertainment. That's why I tune in. If the finalists can't take rejection, they should not be in this business. The shortened show was boring. Get back to the original hour format with the drama of elimination and swan song singing. Bottom line: I want to be entertained.

	I Think that by voting off aloha a lott of the spice is now gone from the competition too soon. I am personally happy for Janay. I do not think she is as bad as the judges say. I believe we are too affected by the judges bias. I want to see more of her.

	I was so disappointed (and surprised) to see Aloha go. I am frustrated with this competition. Janay needs to go NOW! She is so awful! I think that the boys have it over the girls this season. The girls have just been a disappointment all over. The drama is definetly revolving around the guys.

	ALOHA to Aloha - - goodbye, goodbye, goodbye..... Apparently I am not the only person who didn't like her - so says all the votes she DID NOT get....... Celeste was a good "goodbye" as well. Sweet but not spark. (Aloha wasn't spark, she was nuclear meltdown - flaming hot but disasterous) On the guy side - I called it Joe and David and Joe and David it was. I am on the fence for next week with the guys - depends on how they do (I agree MARIO KEEP YOUR HAT ON!!!) as for the girls, Janay gotta go - Mikayla right along with her....

	Janey is a deer in headlights and has the charisma of a pack mule. She needs to go. I feel bad for Celena since she is 29 and this was probably her last chance to make it as a star. People just don't start out in the music business at 29 these days...

	I think the guys have it going on this year over the girls. One problem I have with the show is the singers perform songs that are 30-04 years old. Nobody is going to buy these records that are a generation old, they need to keep it contemporary. I'm glasd they axed the bit where the ousted contestants have to sing the songs that knocked them out in the first place. What kind of torture is this? What is this? Abu Graib?

	I really have to ask, what idiots are voting for Janay? She has no business still being in this game. She should have gone last week. Perhaps she is just too young list Simon said. Whatever the reason, she doesn't belong there & no way should she be there & Aloha gone! OK, for you fools voting for her, you're supposed to vote for the person with the most talent. 	in part airtime is important, but have to be good enough to be so memorable so people vote for you, take the example of Bo Bice, he almost got no airtime, but he's been doing amazing perfomances, so people vote for him

	If anyone needs to go its Randy Yo Yo Dog. How old is he anyway? Who says dog anymore ? He makes the show hard to watch. Paul needs to quit acting so sweet all the time too.Simon is the only one who is real.

	Janay whoud never have been in the top 24- let's cut to the chase - the last two standing will be Mario and Kerry - they are clearly the best at all phases of the competition - a few other like Carrie and Bo might be OK for a while - but they are not multi-faceted. Bo is just a screamin' rocker - he better hope there is no Barry Manilow night- can you see him doing Mandy????

	Joe is gone because Simon was right. He was nothing more then a lounge lizard, or Portugese nightclub singer take your pick. His performance with the C'mons and the Whoos was just smarmy. Anyone who needs to tell the audience to C'mon shouldn't be on stage.

	My prediction is that either Bo or Jessica will win this cempetition. When judges say things like you are the next Fantasia or you are the best female singer here, they are planting ideas in the heads of the viewers. The judges' comments play a huge role on the outcome of this "competition".

	I have not met anyone that likes Janay so how the heck is she getting votes. I am in the half with Mikayla that she is completley annoying. It was funny at first but now its just plain annoying. Her voice is weird and i dont like it. Janay looks soooo uncomfortable up there. With the last two guys that will get voted off would be Scott and Travis. THE GUYS ARE WAY BETTER THIS YEAR> EXCEPT Carrie.

	Why is everyone so high on Mario and Anthony?? Mario is good, but everything he sings sounds the same. Anthony sounds good, but its too wimpy. Would you really buy that an album or want to see him in concert? BORING!! Bo really is the best. I could listen to an album by him. He would bo a blast to see live. Sorry, Constantine. I'm glad you're still around, but I want Bo to win.

	You stated that 42 million people voted - that was incorrect. As Ryan said, there were 42 million votes cast. That's quite different from 42 million voters as according to the message board, there are more phone lines open this year and people are voting up to 250 times each.

	I agree with one of the comments about the show being cut to 30 minutes. Its all about being entertained, and the wednesday show was tres boring! Id rather see the results online the nextday. Poor Janay just looks way too young & even worse with those pasteon nails. I think Aloha was a big mistake being voted off, shes got character and talent. I adore Mario, love the way he moves and his confidence on stage is second nature, fabulous voice never off key. I would love to see this handsome guy hit the big time.
