Tonight on RockStar: INXS saw a predictable end result, but a small surprise to the bottom three. Tuesday's show was amazing, a thought that Dave Navarro echoed. Jon Farriss said the performance by Jordis Unga was so emotional and hearfelt that the band wanted an encore.
Jordis' performance tonight was just as amazing as yesterday. If she can keep up that type of emotion and passion in her performances, she'll end up famous with or without INXS.
Once again Brooke Burke asked those who thought they may end up in the bottom three to raise their hands. Ty Taylor's hand shot up in the air immediately. Deanna Johnston and Jessica Robinson also raised their hands and were the only others to do so. It seemed nearly everyone knew they had an awesome night.
The bottom three ended up being Brandon Calhoon, Ty, and Tara Slone. Tim said that he was surprised to find Ty in the bottom three on the basis of overall talent. But, he said, the vote was over last night. Ty stated that he is his toughest critic, but he was getting ready to rock. As Kirk pointed out, Tara was rather familiar with the bottom three, this being her third time there. Garry Beers asked Brandon if he was surprised to be there. Brandon thought his performance yesterday was his best, which I agree with. One wonders if Brandon's best is good enough?
As Jon and Andrew sat in with the house band, Brandon performed "Devil Inside." He did rather well with a song that has a pretty big vocal range. He really got the crowd going and worked the stage like a pro. And while no one last week interacted with the band, Brandon got up in their faces, showing them what he was all about. Looking at that performance it would be pretty hard to picture Brandon going home tonight.
Up next was Tara, singing "Beautiful Girl." Just as yesterday there was something I could quite like about her performance. At the end of the show, Tim pointed out what it could have been though. Tara just doesn't sing with the same emotion and passion as some of the others. Brandon is worse vocally than Tara. Tara has a beautiful voice, but no passion. Personally I'll take the passion over the voice any day. I want to see someone singing who actually feels the music.
Ty performed "Kick." I liked his performance, and he's a great singer. That said, I'm starting to see what INXS and some fans have been saying about Ty. He's not right for the band. Maybe he can change as weeks go by, but I'm just not seeing the lead singer for INXS when he performs. I see him being a great performer by himself, or perhaps with another band, but not this one. He was a maniac onstage though, and he interacted with the band as well. At the end he stage dived into the crowd.
Tim said that Ty's performance was fantastic and that he could have stage dived all the way over to the other rockers. He was the first one to be safe. Tara, at the beginning of her performance said she loved "Beautiful Girl." Tim felt she didn't show that love and passion (hence my *ding ding* moment regarding my unknown dislike of her), but she sang it well. Brandon was the opposite, according to Tim, performing great, but a bit pitchy. In the end the band decided to send Tara home (which 48% of you predicted on our poll by the way, give yourselves a pat on the back). Tara said she appreciates everyone and she learned a lot about herself. Dave said he hates Wednesdays and that it was a joy and honor to watch her grow.
Next week should be fun as we all wait to see if JD's antics will finally catch up to him. I'm hopeful that eventually the rest of the rockers will catch on and beat him down for it. I'll also go out on a limb and predict that another girl will leave next week, as that seems to be who keeps getting tossed out. Brandon is the weakest of the guys and I don't think he'll go quite yet. The girls have a few week ones left, Deanna and Jessica being at the bottom of the pile.
Good point from greyeyegodde about how JD arranges his songs, though he does it a good job, but how would INXS feel or react to hear JD change the arrangement from one of there songs, I would be offend, image JD in rehearsal saying to INXS about one of there songs, no it should be done this way, I want to sing it like this, wouldn't go down well would it, that's exactly what he would do
Marty to win
I agree Ty is a good singer with an awesome stagepresence, but he's not just right for INXS. JD on the otherhand rocks - he just needs to lose some of the attitude.
GUEST said: I am fascinated by the replies that champion JD. If you have watched all the shows and read the MSN chat with Dave the other day you have got to know who JD is, unless you have Stockholm syndrome or some such impairment!
ROFL! This has to be the funniest thing I have read so far on this site! Thanks Will!
Some very interesting points - No arguments from my side! Cheers!
INXS sent home Tara Slone. As a songwriter, I found her to be most interesting. She was the smoking, drinking, swearing Buddha.
I don't know if this is compliment or what?
As far as life at the mansion is concerned, it’s game face time. I’m planning on being in the gym, no bed or wine. And drum roll… Please…. I will try to stay on “the patch” until I kick this nasty habit (smoking).
Surprisingly smoking has been a topic of discussion on many forums. As a smoker, I don't see any reasons to discuss this at all, in fact I am surprised that most rockers sound so good with the habit! What is J.D. trying to do now, image overhaul? Wow! Bad Boy goes good!
My life has been so blessed and I have fought many battles to be here. Growing up I always believed that I would go somewhere. I remember many nights crying myself to sleep because I had come so close to my dreams only to have them vanish before my eyes. But, now those dreams are here. I’m here.
Boohoo! ::Sniff::
Please this is pathetic! I DO NOT buy this! Oh, a small piece of advice J.D. "Dreams Die First!" Ask Harold Robbins!
Now Compare this with MiG's words
Elimination Day, I couldn't believe that Ty and Brandon were in the bottom 3 of votes this week.
I could! I predicted they would be!
What the ….? That means anything can happen from now on -- there is no room for error. I so felt for Tara-- she kind of felt she was going to be there again and it broke my heart to see her there today. It made her brilliant performance of “Beautiful Girl” even more potent. She directed the last bit of the song to us all. I believe it was her best performance yet. I was a bit frightened to see what Ty was going to do to sing for survival -- it was like they were teasing a dragon. I have never seen anyone perform with such emotion, raw energy and pure passion. Ty was a dynamo with “Kick”. Sometimes you Kick, sometimes you get kicked! Ty showed why he is the man to beat in this competition. I am in complete awe of him professionally and personally and that stage dive at the end of the song, as if we hadn't already gotten the point!! Brandon had to sing "Devil Inside" and he totally nailed it as he does anything. However, I could tell he let his nerves get to him. I'm sure that's something he'll have to control because it might stop him from showing how awesome he truly is. However today, we lost Tara-- The beautiful Tara Slone. I will miss her terribly but I know she is going to be fine. She has an album in the can, and I hope her time here will launch her all over again. She is out in the world and the Slone Ranger rides again.
Slone Ranger is any day better than smoking, drinking, swearing Buddha!
MiG could have used his blog to talk about himself, instead he gives an (almost) insider re-cap! See the difference?
Sprout, great insight! Also, have you noticed how Mig truly celebrates the other performers and how the sociopathic JD fakes it. (And poor job of that)
I am very excited to see who the final 3-5 are and i am along the same feeling as most posts here...... MiG, Marty, JD, Jordis and maybe Ty. I can not wait till Brandon, Jessica, Deanna and Suzie are gone, and as said above bring on some mini concerts!!! I love the idea of everyone singing the same songs when it gets down to it, but i dont think the vocals are going to be the decider, it will be stage show and chemestry. Oh and maybe dave can get up and play some tunes and not just sit there looking all sexy!!! LOL I vote MiG
<And while no one last week interacted with the band...> I agree with the bulk of the review except for this line. Mig Ayesa iNTeracted with the band and the audience to Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” Dave and Tim even gave Mig major props for rockin' the house way, way better than JD's "We Are the Champions" the previous week.

Perhaps I should have made myself clearer: I was referring to last week's results show, where INXS members made their first appearance playing with the house band. Not one of the three girls interacted with Jon or Garry, which I think was a foolish mistake on their parts. It may have bought Daphna and Heather an extra week if they had interacted with INXS while they were up there.
I think Marty is best suited for INXS, but Jordis is by far my favorite. I can't wait to see how shes comes out of this, I'll be one of the first to buy her CD.
I am a 60+ year old woman and never been a rock fan in my entire life. But, I wait each week to watch the performances. Must be my second childhood. My favorites are Mig, Marty, JD and Brandon.
i love jordis when she performed that song with such emotion i cryed and got goosebumps ive never done that perform when an artist has sang a really emotional song i just love her i wnt her to win she deserves it shes so cool funny lovely and shes gorgeous not many girls can look hot with dreadlocks but she does i want her to WIN so much i love u jordis
I am REALLY upset because I have been foolowing this competition and my darn satellite went out tonight and I have NO IDEA what has happened....If anyone would be kind enough to e-mail me at *deleted by admin* and tell me who the three were and who was kicked off tonight, I would really appreciate it. I think this whole competition ROCKS and the choice is getting harder to make because the most talented are still hanging in there and only one can win!
