Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is being called on to cancel an appearance in Israel by the Palestinian Association for Contemporary Art. They want him to protest the barrier built by the Israelis by cancelling his concert in Tel Aviv.
The Israeli Government built the barrier to stop suicide bombers, but the Palestinians say that the barrier keeps them from schools and health care.
Waters, who wrote the hit song Another Brick in the Wall, said: "I would not rule out going to Israel because I disapprove of the foreign policy any more than I would refuse to play in the UK because I disapprove of Tony Blair''s foreign policy."
He added that his fans in Israel included "many refuseniks".
The network of fences and concrete barricades is a temporary measure intended to prevent Palestinian militants entering Israel to carry out attacks, Israel''s government has said.
Of course if the Palestinian leaders had done more to prevent the violance by the suicide bombers, no barrier would have been necessary. However they claimed for years that it wasn't their responsibility to stop the suicide bombers. Now that the Israeli government decides to find a way to stop the violence, of course the Palestinians get angry.

I think Water's should refuse to play in Israel, just like he and many others refused to play in South Africa. There is no difference between the old South African apartheid state and the current Israeli one....
well one difference. In South Africa, the whites were guilty of violence against the blacks, and they wanted to be separate not for reasons of safety, but reasons of prejudice. In Israel, the Israelis are in constant fear of another suicide bomber. Someone keeps on attacking you, I'm certain you'd want a wall between you and them as well. All this politically correct "oh the poor palestinians" nonsense is just that - nonsense. Once they stop rewarding the families of the suicide bombers and stop making them into heros, then I might start to feel sorry for them. Until then, I'll pick the people who are dying to feel sorry for.
Roger Waters knows what he's doing, he's not going to discriminate against a certain group of people just because he disagree's with their government, why should he.
