The girls of Rock Star: Supernova have long been behind the guys, with only a few exceptions. Tonight, three of the girls have landed in the bottom three. Unfortunately they did not eliminate all three, so two of them get the chance to once again prove they are far behind those in the lead.
First up was my favorite part of the show - the part where I have to rewind 20 times to figure out what Mumbly-Skunkly says! Back at the mansion after the show, Magni toasts the best show ever - wondering how they will top it next week. He suggests that Lukas Rossi might remember his words. Mumbly-Skunklyh says that he forgot his lyrics and wasn't himself. Everyone has a bad night says MS, and that was his. Broodstar knows how MS feels, as he was there a few weeks ago. Broodstar says that MS had brought everything until now and it was the first time it was akward. Skunky mumbles that he deserves to be in the bottom three, everyone deserves to be on the chopping block at some point. He continues to mumble that the one song that sounds like supernova and he screws it up.
Dave Navarro first talks to Mumbly-Skunkly, telling him he was killing it in the competition, and wondering what happened. MS says that he's only human and it was his turn to screw up. He will take it like a man though, adding that if he gets into the bottom three, which should happen, he knows he is good enough to get out of it. Honestly that was my first moment of respect for Lukas.
Next up was Dave and Dana, with Dave wondering if she got her tattoo. Dana did get a tattoo, of something that is in her soul, a treble clef on her lower hip. She says she's getting a bass clef on the other side. Dave tells her to get it on the back side. Gilby Clarke talks to Ryan Star about why everyone didn't fight for the chance to play with Tommy Lee. Broodstar says it's a good question, and they didn't want to choose the song merely because it was Tommy. He adds that he hopes to get a chance to play with him later on. Then it was Dave and Soccer Mom, Patrice Pike. PattyP said it was amazing to play with Tommy, but she wanted eyes in the back of her head. Dave asks Patty if it was worth risk, Patty says that every song selection is risky. Dave interrupts that he means that being up there with Tommy gives people a sense of what it will look and feel like if Patty wins. Patty says that if you can't pull it off, you shouldn't be on the show. Tommy tells Magni that they know it's hard to be away from family, especially the "little monkeys" and wonders how Magni will handle it. Magni questions that they were moving to Iceland right? He adds that it's in the middle of Europe and the US, thus good for all.
On to the announcement of the encore. Jason asked who thought they deserved the encore and only Dana Andrews and Storm Large raised their hands. Jason Newsted said they wanted to see more hands, but adds that luckily they choose. Amazingly enough, it went to Broodster, Ryan Star. Ryan tells Brooke he needs a piano and so they break for commercial. After the break, Brooke plugs spaces.live.com where you can make your own space dedicated to Rock Star. Then Broodstar performs and again it was great.
Then it was time for the meat, as Brooke announced who was in the bottom at some point during the voting. The Aussie Ken Doll, Toby Rand was in the bottom, much to my satisfaction, Pamela-lite, Jill Gioia, Skipper Dana Andrews, Zayra Alvarez (who shouted it "I knew it") and Soccer Mom Patrice Pike (and someone shouted "WHAT" though I don't know who). First into the bottom, also to my satisfaction was Jill. Gilby Clarke tells her she's an amazing singer, but the voters put her there again. Jill decided to do a song by one of her favorite bands, Heart. She chose "Alone" because it will show the deeper richer tones they have been wanting to hear. I wanted her to do bad. I want her to go home. But she did ... not suck. I'm sorry y'all I can't give it more than that. You'll have to give me time to adjust first! To top it all off, she got a flipping Standing Ovation from Supernova after her performance.
Brooke asks the rest of them if it's true that some of them skipped out on House Band practice. Toby and Dana admit they did. Skipper is therefore number two to the bottom. Jason asks why she missed rehearsal. Dana said it was a horrible reason, she was at a spa. Jason says it's so "rock and roll singer" and Dave said she should win by default for that. Dana adds that she didn't want the House Band to have to wait on them, as it would have been another 30 minutes before she got there. She sang "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals, but added a more modern vibe to it. It was weird and while I didn't like it, I didn't dislike it.
Toby and Zayra were both off the hook while Soccer Mom was in the bottom. Tommy said he thought they were awesome. Patrice tells everyone that she really means this and she is going to do her best. She picked "Eternal Life" by Jeff Buckley, who she called one of the greatest rockers of our generation. I usually don't like to admit this as I tend to get yelled at, but I've never heard the song, so I'm not the best judge of it. I didn't like it, but then again I don't like Soccer Mom.
Gilby started out by giving the remaining rockers a new assignment for next week. They will get a new Supernova track and have to individually write lyrics and melody to it. Then he went on to the good news that Jill made terrible creative choices, but saved herself tonight. Dana meanwhile was developing well, but they're not sure if they have enough time. Patrice meanwhile is a good singer and performer but it's hard to ignore her being in the bottom three with Tommy Lee performing behind her.
On to Tommy, who told Dana that she's come far but not far enough to keep on the show. Dana took it very well however. Dave told her she's grown and is a joy to watch. He wondered if she regrets getting her tattoo, and she didn't. She thanked them for the opportunity and experience. She also agreed that she needs to grow. Jason told her she had such a positive, fun energy that she brought to the house. He adds to everyone that they are also looking at how people behave, how they handle the new things that happen. Dana is the youngest, but the most mature in how she's handling everything.
It was sad to not see Soccer Mom or Pamela-lite go, but Pamela-lite did manage to save herself. I don't think she'll manage it much longer though. She can obviously do ballads, but she sucks at rock. I was very happy to note that the band isn't impressed by bad behaviour like INXS was. I'm certain they have all had their fill of * bandmembers.
I can't stand Dilana, and I hope she loses big time. It is easy to see that she doesn't like Lukas because he is definitely better than she is! Dilana doesn't have what it takes to front SuperNova, she can't write songs that's for sure. I hope SuperNova realizes this before it's too late.
I think the best one up there right now is my girl Dilana, shes the best and everyone knows it. She just got what it takes to front Supernova, and she will!
