Rock Star: Supernova Top 10 Rock Hard curlio
 2006-08-08 23:06:08
Television Finally the night that Rock Star: Supernova fans have been waiting for has arrived! The top 10 rockers gave some excellent performances all around. I'm sure some anti-fans will disagree with me, but I stand by my opinion. Tonight's show was just * awesome.

First up was a visit to the mansion to watch as Magni was reunited with his wife and son from Iceland, a gift from the band. The Aussie Ken Doll - Toby Rand said that in the long run, Magni was securing a future for his family. Meanwhile Zayra Alvarez was more concerned with her wardrobe. She says that what she wears onstage she does for herself. She wants to wow herself and if other people like it that's great. Meanwhile Lukas Rossi was wanting to show another side of his voice, one that is less angry. During song selection it was revealed that Gilby Clarke would perform on The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again. Dilana was astonished that no one else wanted the song. Josh Logan wondered if it was a good thing to jump onto those songs that the band would be performing on. Meanwhile, Dilana downloaded the song and got a special message from Gilby! Back at the show, Dave Navarro wondered the same thing I did - What the heck is wrong with them? Only Dilana stepped up to an opportunity to play with one of the band members? He said if it was up to him, Dilana would win right now.

First up was Dilana and Gilby, with Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who. It was a totally AWESOME performance, though I was hoping that Dilana would have headbutted Gilby a little bit. The two of them did put their heads together to sing. Dilana showed exactly how a woman can rock with a male band. Dave thought it looked like a rock show, not an audition. He also rubbed it in that it could have been one of the other rockers, and that now it would not only suck to follow Dilana, but now they have to follow Dilana and Gilby!. Tommy Lee asked how Dilana liked it, she said it was a dream come true. Gilby told Dilana that he knows now that a woman can front the band. Jason Newsted said it was on the list of awesome performances.

Jill Gioia performed Mother Mother by Tracy Bonham. She looked a lot less "Pamela-lite" tonight, earning her a break from her usual nickname! She looked more rock and less sex. She jumped out into the audience, completely amazing Dave. He was afraid he might get whacked, saying he felt like he was watching Carmela Soprano (I presume that's a reference to The Sopranos? Don't watch the show myself). Tommy thought it was one of her best. Jason liked the physical part, but felt the voice lost something.

Ryan Star was up next with Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones. Ryan emerged from the accident, he fumbled the words a bit, but it was an awesome performance. It was perfect for our little Brooding Star. I loved the whole weird outfit / hair hoodie thing. Dave told Ryan that he is a contender. Tommy and Dave had a lovely exchange about how cool it was, and Dave didn't know what happened. Tommy said he knew what happened, Ryan got laid after the performance last week.

Storm Large certainly lived up to her name this week. Her performance of Queen's We Are The Champions was not a mere small sprinkle but definitely a storm! It hard to do Queen, let alone do it good. Not only did she perform good, it's the first performance from her I actually really liked! Dave told her it was the perfect song for her to choose to show off her range. Jason loved the arrangment, saying Queen would give it a stamp of approval. Tommy hoped that they didn't scare her into not rocking, and Storm fired back that she would spank him later for sure.

Zayra Alvarez performed All The Young Dudes by David Bowie with Magni on guitar. The outfit was better than the performance, but she certainly has a nifty voice. I'm quite sure that Nicole and I will be the only ones in awe of her performance, but I'm cool, with that. Dave told Zayra that if this was Rock Star Planet Pluto she'd win. Gilby likes the showmanship, adding that they are looking for that (duh, hello, Tommy Lee is the drummer). He told her to watch the keys of the song though, as she was flat a lot. Tommy said that the confidence is good for a frontwoman.

Josh Logan mixed his soul with rock and roll to perform Stone Temple Pilot's Interstate Love Song. Before he started however, Tommy interrupted that he wanted to play with Josh. It was the perfect song to show off how Josh's soul can mix with rock. Dave thought it was good but doesn't know if good is good enough. Tommy thought it was fun, but wished that Josh hadn't been playing guitar, he would love to see Josh get his groove on. Gilby was waiting to hear that from Josh, singing a rock song. Jason tells the group that they need to watch out, as they never know who will be playing with them.

Magni came out all by himself to play guitar on Live's The Dolphin's Cry. It was awesome and a perfect song for him. His wife and baby were in the audience, making it even better for Magni! Dave congratulated him on being the first to stand alone and deliver a song like that. Tommy asked how it was to have his family there, but Magni didn't really know what to say except it was awesome. Gilby said it inspired everyone.

Even Soccer Mom Patrice Pike did fairly good with her performance of Instant Karma by John Lennon. I don't like her personally, but it was a good performance. I still see Soccer Mom when she performs though. Dave thought it was an excellent song choice. Gilby didn't think she deserved to be in the bottom three last week. He thought it was good to see her change it up and take it to the next level.

Lukas Rossi gave his best performance yet with Radiohead's Creep. Normally I refer to him as Mumbly-Skunkly, but he didn't mumble, he didn't stink, and his hair was semi-normal. His performance was absolutely awesome. He sang from his stomach and had power. It was his best yet. Tommy said he got goosebumps. Dave wondered where this guy had been hiding. Gilby said that what is nice about a good performer is that you don't know what is coming next. Jason complimented Lukas for finally using his voice properly and singing for them. He told Lukas to keep it going that way.

The Aussie Ken Doll was up last, Toby Rand performed the Talking Head song Burning Down the House. He too, gets a temporary break from his nickname as he didn't seem empty-headed at all and didn't just wander around trying to get the girls in his front row to fall in bed with him. He performed great, up until Zayra brought him a megaphone, copying a certain JD Fortune from last year. It lowered my opinion a bit, but it was still a great performance. Dave thought it was great until the megaphone, saying that you don't need a prop at this stage. Jason didn't mind the megaphone, saying that tricks are cool a little at a time. Gilby said it was nice to see him change it up.

At the end of the show, the bottom three were Jill, Zayra, and Patrice. I think that Josh may join them tomorrow as well, as he's not as popular either. The top three for me were definitely Dilana, Magni, and Lukas! Lukas will probably score the encore, as he kicked *and hasn't had it yet. At the end, Brooke Burke paid tribute to House Band, who most definitely still kicks ass!

I would like to vote for Dilana, but am not sure how. I have not voted to date, but feel like she is in the same league as Janice Joplin. I am 46 and still a rocker at heart. You go girl! That voice can do anything!!!!!

Its at the business end now. The bottom three of Jill, Patrice and Zayra are going to be the next 3 to go followed by Josh. All the others are excellent and I think Lukas finally stood up tonight, you go creep! Toby and Magni are also a good chance, don't know how versatile Ryan is. Where are the guest judges?? And what's gonna happen for series 3??

Just as you said the show was great. But I came out with a different top 4 My favorites are Josh, Storm and Toby (but I didn't like the megaphone) and Magni. I just can't like Patrice...she thinks she rocks...but falls short for me. Same with Jill she is just not wowing any song. I was a little ticked that they told Josh he shouldn't have used a guitar...then praised Patrice for playing??? Magni also played and they loved it!? What the.....?
Ryan was scarey chick tonight! Racoon face paint and scarey hoodie?
I can't like skunk...it's hard to get past the clint Howard...die Mark Wedlow!
I don't know why...but Dilana was just ok?!
(Zayra, just go home....PLEASE! and take Patrice with you!)

Ryan Star's Paint it Black was astonishing! The reveal was powerful. His performance stands out from the rest, completely unique. I was genuinely surprised! Best combo of originality and brilliance this season. There are plenty of performances this season with better vocals (mainly from Dilana and Magni), but this was the biggest departure from your typical rock performance. I dug it. Also, I'm glad that Lukas delivered with Creep. His previous attempts at singing were almost horrific. Finally he sang normally! Jill was terrible. She doesn't have a powerful voice. Zayra didn't do well tonight. I actually didn't mind her when she sang that REM tune. I thought she was quite good, if not great. She needs to let that Bjork voice come through. My supportive attitude is probably unwarranted, I'll admit it. I, too, have fallen victim to the "she's kind of hot and I want to see what she does next" mentality. Also, I hated Toby's attempt to be "different". He was cheesy. Lastly, "We are the Champions" is played out. It's on every kareoke CD, not that I would know or anything. Next!

My top three performances were by Dilana, Ryan, and Magni. I don't think Dilana will win, though, because in the end I think the band will go for a man, even though they said last night that they can now see a woman up front.

I loved Ryan's performance. Prior to two weeks ago I barely noticed him, but he's come on strong. I'm waiting to see if he can continue surprising and keep maintaining his intensity or revert back to the shadows.

I'm happy with the bottom three the way it was at the show's end. If those three continue to consistently remain in the bottom I know there's at least two more weeks before I have to worry about someone I really like being told to leave.

The only way Dilana is gonna lose is if she sings a Barry Manilow song, come to think of it she could probably pull that off too!!

Morning all!

I to-to-totally agree Curlio that last night's show overall was pretty darn fantastic. Even the bad ones weren't all that bad. However, good singing seems to be accompanied by spastic outfits, so there's still something to poke fun at.

Dilana: Having just mentioned crazy outfits, of course I have to contradict myself and start with Dilana who looked awesome last night. Most of her previous outfits were a little too costumey for my taste (see "Time after Time") but last night in the jeans and tee shirt, she looked cute and not too scary. The performance was head and shoulders above the rest and I think when they give her the job, this will be the song they refer to as 'the moment we first knew you were perfect for our band.'

Jill: Say it with me---knee boots only work on long legs! Knee boots only work on long legs! Girl looked like she'd been hacked off at the knees. As usual, I found her irritating and emotionally dead. The look in her eyes is so attention starved . . . ugh! The italian pony cannot leave soon enough.

Brooding Star (sidenote: don't quit the nicknames Curlio cuz of one no-fun guest! Even Storm's cousin said they're funny): Mr. Brooding Star unveiled his real life, unRockstar persona last night---a theif from an old looney tunes cartoon who sneaks into the house and steals the baby! I think I missed the boat on this one. The 'goth' feel didn't really suit the song, which I always thought was more about anger than wallowing in depression. But we know how the Brooder loves to wallow . . . vocally and performance wise I thought it was one of the weaker of the night.

Storm Large: I am the only one who became completely convinced that Storm Large could kick Ace Young's ass? I know they sang different songs, but Queen night on AI was such a traumatic event, I have yet to really let it go. She really showed off her vocals last night and I'm pretty much convinced that she has the strongest voice of the women contestants (Magni would give her a run for her money though) but I'm not sold on her performance. She either gives too much (ol' Storm of the crazy eye) or too little (Queen/David Bowie standing still in the middle of the stage trying to control her crazy eye).

Zayra: The outfit, as always, did not disappoint. The delivery, as always, was strangely compelling. The singing was, for the first time, a bit painful. I found myself in the uncomfortable position of being torn between my love for Zayra (which forces me to forgive and embrace all her flaws) and my love for David Bowie (which causes me to hiss and denounce anyone who even attempts one of his songs without first offering up the blood of a stylishly dressed metrosexual at the altar of Bowie). I read while whoring around on the internet that during the taping, she got into a long, long, long argument with Dave Navarro saying that the reason she's off-key is because they aren't allowed to wear ear pieces. I say give the woman an earpiece and stop making me question my love.

Josh: Well, he looked like Scott Wyland (minus the track marks up and down his arms) but he was doing that really painful singing again like he did when he imitated Kurt Cobain. It's like he tenses up his mouth and sings from deep in his belly. It sounds like a semi truck down shifting. However, this was the song where Mr. Nicole stuck his head into the room to comment that 'all those singers suck but that band is great.' And if Mr. Nicole says it, it must be true.

Magni: Okay, throw rocks and stones in my direction, but I missed Magni's performance last night. We bought a new car (Outback baby Outback!) yesterday and I went out during the commercial to look lovingly at it and missed Magni. So, I'll just talk about his cute Icelandic Mirror Baby. A Mirror Baby is a Baby that looks just like one of its parents and, I think we can all agree, Magni's baby looks just like him. Personally, I'd rather have watched the baby stumble around the stage than the performance by Patrice Pike I returned to.

Soccer Mom: Yawnnnnnnn. . . . . did somebody say 'over-eager'? Did somebody say 'hopelessly unhip'? Did somebody say 'stupid hairdo two weeks in a row'? My patience with Patrice has worn thin and I'm at the point where I pretty much hate anything that comes out of her mouth. She refuses to grow, change, take the darn kids to karate class. I fear she's beyond hope.

Lukas: I second all the praise he's received thus far, particularly agreeing with Jason that he should continue to sing that way. BUT (and there's always a but, isn't there?) there were two major faux paus made during the performance. First, shiny printed blazers are for cruise singers and Taylor Hicks only . . . ever. Secondly, winking at the camera while singing "I'm a Creep" is, well, creepy. He looks more and more like a child molester everyday. I also wish they would just skip over the falsetto parts of any Coldplay song. No one can really pull it off with out making my teeth hurt.

Crocodile Randee: I must confess that I am also a rabid David Byrne fan (he's like one floor below David Bowie and Leonard Cohen in my tower of song) so I was a wee bit nervous to hear this song selection. However, Toby rose to the occassion and I would say that this was the second best performance of the night. The energy was spot on and I thought the megaphone was fine, even if it did cause all the people watching across america to wag their fingers at the screen and say 'you stole that from JD'. Best performance from Toby all season.

My top three: Dilana, Toby, Lukas

My bottom three: Jill, Patrice, Ryan

I'm predicting a Patrice/Jill double elimination tonight. Why? Cuz I'm crazy like that. I think Zayra will probably make her triumphant, gold lame covered return to the bottom three, but not get the boot.

Lukas finally wowed me last night. Creep is one of my all-time favorites, and he blew it out of the water!

I think Patrice and her pigtails need to go soon...she's not an authentic rocker and doesn't belong on the show. Same goes for Jill. I just can't stand watching or listening to her. Definitely a poser.

Also, Zayra? What the heck?!? She's definitely one of my least favorites and I want her to go home, but anyone who can wear shoes that high and not fall on his/her face earns my respect! If only I could pull off that gold spandex so well...

Top 4 of the night:
1) Lukas
2) Dilana
3) Magni
4) Ryan

So our tragedy is your good luck. Satan.

How about that Ryan "Rickey Racoon" Star ?? He's a contender alright-his future as a service station attendent pumping gas! I thought Eddie Munster aka' Lukas butchered the high parts of creep' (guess Supernova might be tone deaf spraying him with compliments after that crap).I seem to recall Marty from last season doing a much better job with the same song.Well, what can ya say about Zayra that hasn't already been said-another wretched performance, she looked like a full blown street walker last night and her thick accent....c'mon.Storm looked like her usual stipper self and gave a mediore platter.I thought Dilana,Toby,Magni, and Patrice did quite well, and beleive me i find it really hard to pay any of these pantloads a compliment...so there you go.Heres to Zayra' getting the boot tonight. ----- Cheers

I think Storm had one of the most underrated performances. I have a hard time even imagining Jill or Patrice doing Queen. It would have been really ugly. Zayra too, but she'd be entertaining. I also am very ready for Jill and Patrice to be gone. I really like alot of the singers. Storm and Dilana would absolutely rock for these guys, but I have a feeling they are leaning toward guys. It's still early but I think there are at least 5 who can front this band. I think Magni definately could, but he deserves better.

Ok that's the kind of show we have been waiting for!

Dilana totally rocked that song (as she always does). The more I see her the more I can see her with Supernova.

Jill sounded to me a bit like Alanis on that song. Probably her best performance since she sang Janis. But it's not enough for her to escape the bottom 3

Ryan I actually didn't care for his performance, I am sure I am in the vast minority on this.

Storm was great she has grown on me a lot over the course of the show, as Curlio said it is a hard song to pull off.

Zayra, I actually thought that was one of her better performances vocally. I love that you never know what to expect from her.

Josh was great and I agree that he should have been working the stage on that song. He obviously isn't a fit for the group, that being said he shouldn't leave before Jill or Patrice though IMO.

Magni nailed that song, and for me it was the best performance of the night. Could it be my affinity for bald men? Or the fact that I love that song? Perhaps, but he was awsome!

Patrice, ok this is my only catty coment, the whole time I watched her perform I kept thinking "she looks like a cocker spaniel with her hair like that". For me she was blah and boring. She or Jill should be sent home.

Lukas (thanks to Dilana) picked the perfect song to finally showcase he can sing coherently. Plus he really is a creep so the song is fitting for him.

Toby ok I actually liked his performance, was it a bit cheesey to bring out the megaphone? Yeah probably, but I wonder would we be questioning this if JD hadn't done it last year? But seeing as thats not the point, it really didn't match up to Magni or Dilana's performances.

Bottom 3
Jill, Patrice, and either Zayra or Josh (both of which I don't think should be there or go home)

Topics of discussion for anyone who saw last season... as I think we're far enough to compare.

1. Tommy, Gilby, and Jason look far more comfortable onstage than any of the INXS boys ever did.

2. INXS seemed to be rather "set" in how they wanted their band, whereas SN seems to be open-ish to the idea of new things (for example being open to the idea of SoulMan Josh).

3. Last season it was painfully obvious that there were only 3 or 4 contenders for the win (Mig, Marty, Suzie, and JD). This season it seems that after Patrice, Jill, Zayra leave only Josh is left as the "probably not" person. Storm and Dilana are definitely the only 2 girls who could handle the boys, while Lukas, Magni, Ryan, and Toby each would bring something different to the band. Last year had more talented singers, but this year seems to have more people who are right for the band.

I'll just offer a few thoughts.

I have to go re-watch the show. I know part of the problem is the sound on my tv sucks, but I actually wasn't a big fan of Dilana's performance. Great energy and stage presence, but something about the vocals didn't click with me. Then again, I'm such a fan of Roger Daltrey's vocals (the scream he does toward the end of the original version just knocks my socks off every time) that I probably wouldn't have liked anyone's performance.

I actually really liked Zayra's performance, though yes her vocals were a bit off. Something about her approach on this one just seemed to make sense to me, for the first time.

Ryan -- I have to rewatch that one too because I thought it was actually pretty silly. I love that song as well. I think I'm more in the Tommy Lee camp, a bit bewildered.

Mangi was great. I'm not a Live fan, but I loved that song last night.

Like others and Dave Navarro, I really dug Toby's performance up until the megaphone. What cracked me up about it was his comment that he was just trying to do something different with the song. But the megaphone thing is exactly what David Byrne does on the original, and much better.

Anyway ... I think my bottom three are pretty much the same as everyone elses: Jill, Patrice and Josh.

I try not to think of JD....he never was my pick for anything. He was not the first person to sing with a megaphone, and as we see not the last! I didn't like it when JD used it and I didn't like it last night. Maybe I have a fear of megaphones? nudge
I forgot to mention Storms Queen song. she actually did a good job....I was missing the final "of the world" as Freddie always did it. But who can sing like Freddie? No one! (total queen fan here!)

1. I agree. I think because these guys aren't trying to ressurect their carreers per say. Plus, these guys were known entities from their previous bands, no offense to the INXS guys but I was only familiar with MH when I was a kid.

2. I think it's because this is a hybrid band so they are more willing to change things up. INXS were looking more IMO to soar up the pop charts as they did back in the 80's.

3. Again and not to sound like a broken record I think it's because the band is more of a hybrid. Different sounds would work with this band, whereas INXS while making new music will still fall back on what made them, and they needed someone who could sing Tear Us Apart,Devil Inside, etc, without making the old fans cringe.

Great re-cap Curlio, and terrific comments and ideas from my Peeps and guest. I agree that the show was one of the very best overall with good performances by all if you consider that Latin Swirl is really a performance artist, not saying it is a bad thing necessarily, but, she is only a local level singer/rocker. I am not being argumentative to my Curlio and Sisterwoman Nikki, I like her entertainment value but I have mixed emotions about keeping her in place of the other rockers.

About Curlio's point relating to the openness of the SN guy's, good observation, I think this is a band in progress, I hope they continue to do this show this way, with the new band forming idea, fitting into INXS, though I now think JD was a good match for them, they could have created something much better and more creative, but we all looked at that show not really knowing they wanted just a Michael clone. With Gilby and Jason, I think you have some serious brainpower, and people love the Horndog Tommy who I think will not impede the process.

About the show, my take:

Scary Beatch, well the guitar was great, as a Who fan from back when, I knew she couldn't the song that well and after all the Daltry finish and the guitar at the beginning make that song. Gilby and band were great she was only okay, I don't know why the excessive praise, maybe it sounded better in the theater. Janis Joplin imitator sings the Who........

Jill......Not liked and you gotta admit abrasive, She does have a powerful voice, go back and play the evanescence song. She is what we call rough around the edges, I see her kind of like Pink at first. But, this girl can dance and is a ball of energy and huge potential, that I am afraid will be by-passed in this. She will go soon, but with a little work from with the right folks, better than you think. She is bossy and ballsey much like Streisand in her punk routine. See "What's up Doc", she is a spitting image of the character there, always trying to insert herself into an odd situation.

Brooding Star......The song "Paint it Black" was an anthem for the psychological dark days of the Vietnam crew. It had a certain feel to it that Ryan; a brooding pussywillow could never know about or bring into his consciousness. His version was good to someone who never heard the original in the proper context! (See" Full Metal Jacket")

Josh..... continue to like him, my male favorite, not right for the back but best musically and not a contrived nit, like Skunkie! Won't go right away, don't think.
Don't think T Lee picked the best song to showcase his talent and the overall performance was not enhanced, which could be a negative for the boy.

Patrice.... she may be the head beatch at her coven of rockerlesbos, and I like gay people, so don't take me wrong. But, her alpha-lesbo-tude will not get her the votes and she will soon be gone. She doesn't have enough edge for the band and truthfully I could see Latin Swirl as lead singer before her.

Stormy or Stormy sprinkles or as I like to think of her a hot breath of air softly on my neck, excuse me, wrong post. I really like her the most hope she gets the gig, she is sexy and talented an beautiful and even if she "bats on both sides" she is certainly lipstick enough for me. Love her. Good Queen, hard to do, Freddy is always out there to make anyone look weak. She was excellent!

Latin Swirl, not as entertaining, she might be running out of costumes and be digging deep into several wardrobes caches for drag queens. Potential is there but truthfully when you get into "I'm a producer" mode and still never really earned your singing chops, well, you must agree, it's just delusional!

Ryan........ Sounded pretty good each but once you are headed in gimmick and prop-a-land, you are surrendering a bit of your singing credibility, to me.
(First you go there, then you sing! Basics man Basics!)

Skunky boy- did much better than I thought, when you ego has closed you out of everyone's world you ever worked with. A you get a chance to steal yet one more half eaten sandwich of the table in an outdoor cafe you must endeavor to well you hide the fact that you are so limited by performing an almost hypnotic version of the song "Creep", you hardly notice the bad parts, well done, Skunkie, you may hide in the ally a while longer, maybe next time you'll get some fries.

Well, I definitely had extra time today, I just have fun with my Peep at Curlio's joint!!

And, continued best wishes to our Sproutster who is gonna hurry back soon, cause we miss him!!!!

Hugs and Kisses, Will -oops-

I think there will be the same three in the bottom as the bottom three last night. Definitely Patrice, the other two could be replace by Josh.

I think the Latin Swirl might be the exit queen. The further long this goes the more I hate to see them all go.

i just bought the dvd from season one and wow... do i miss marty!! i would love to see him in this competition... he was awesome! and jordis... oh jordis... she was fantastic too... as for last nite - i think it was the strongest so far! but... i don't really get the big props for dilana last nite either... i love her - she is my fave and has been from the beginning. she's just so comfortable in her skin and never seems to be putting on, even in full costume. love her. but i did not think that was the strongest she's done. jill has to go - i am so very done with watching her... and yes, broody is getting better, but i am so done with his broodiness! haha relax the face man... magni - wicked and so great. i think he will be in final 3. and toby - yay! some emotion from ken doll! i look forward to seeing if he has found his confidence and is gonna play this show! i'm gonna have to go back and watch the episode again... lukas was good, but the encore? yeah - have to watch that again... i think the encore will be magni - he was brilliant.

Runner Up's: Toby, Dilana, and Storm...

But the Winner, without hesitation is Lucas Rossi. His voice is so sexy and he's truely passionate about what he does. He's the ONLY reason I watch RockStar Supernova, don't get me wrong Tommy Lee's hot as hell, but Lucas steals my heart by a mile.

Oh, and to all you bimbo's out there, don't hate...that wink was for me.

Wow, if Lukas is considered sexy, there's hope for me yet :)

I thought Lukas was a bit of an *during the songwriting competition this week. I'm happy for him that he finished his song in like 15 seconds, but I got the impression that he was purposely trying to distract Ryan from finishing his version of the song. Of course, it could have been an editing trick to make it look like Lukas was playing the song over and over and over in front of Ryan and being all "hey, look at me, my song rocks! top that!"

"Zayra: The outfit, as always, did not disappoint. I say give the woman an earpiece and stop making me question my love"

How much of a difference does the earpiece make???? Because I am a bit of a fan of her too.

For some singers it does make a difference if they can hear themselves better. I remember Axl Rose sucking on the MTV Video Music awards a couple of years ago and blaming it on the earpiece (he was clutching the earpice constantly througouth the performance).

Listening to a couple of songs on her myspace page and she sounds a little more in key. So maybe it does help her quite a bit. (Then again, studio gimmicks can help mask any vocal problems and her vocals do sound fairly processed)

But her band has played a lot of small clubs, I would find it hard to believe that she doesn't have at least some experience singing without an earpiece. I've played in a couple of short-lived bands that played at small clubs and our singers did fine w/o. They did not use in-ear monitors either because of personal preference, lack of money or because the club couldn't accommodate it. We usually used floor monitors instead.

i think all 15 singers are awesome but onley one can be the singer, and u know its crazy tough to decide, and after a point its not even fair, all this voting is crap, i think it should have been left for the band to decide who they want but i see that they wanna have some fun.
one guy who didnt desrve to go was phil ritchie,he had some natural edge and attitude in his style eccept his bit exessive head shaking(remember he was the only guy who had the gutts to actually just humm instead of making up lyrics) , josh should have been long gone instead..cause again this band aint about the 'soul', its about rocking (not judging his vocal abilities)
I dont even have a bottom three right now,its bottom two... and not because the're bad singers but they dont fit this band.i think its-
josh &
jill
and it would have been toby(kinda sissy in the first few performances --im sure he'll last longer than expected cause of the girls drooling over him) but he has been better lately.

I Have a special place for Zayra( though she might have to leave soon) and its not because of her costumes or the fact that she looks absolutely stunning, but because i think she has the edge, and the passion & confidence, and she adds to the mood of the song you know what i mean s? and she has this dark smooth stylish way she sings in ....ok she doesnt hit certain notes sometimes but its about rocking remember,
and the passion, there r so many with vocal abilites(people singing in the opera house!), they can do all kinds of things with thier pipes and oversing, doent mean they can get selected as rockers. shed be really good for gothic style rock/metal, with that lovely accent.

lucas magni ryan storm and dilana r awesome!
but
dilana's - her stage presence and style is awesome( like she's already a star!), awesome voice ofcource and most of them feel the passion in the song that she sings but i dont, quite often cause she is not very cosntant, I feel. But supernova is so in love with her they havent commented as yet . Her singing just doesnt satisfy me ,as much as it did before specially this time with gilby(what was so good about her singing i dont understand). generally i dont know why i dnt like her .... maybe i feel she over sings some times and plays with her voice a bit in a way that is irritating...i dnt know, i cant point the fault out , the same way i cant for Mr.dickinson of iron maiden, even he doesnt have that passion in his voice, i feel( kinda in the middle of nowhere, and fake) & i like listening to metal a lot

but after jill and josh get thrown ot its not at all fair for any of them be judged on who shall front the band , it might aswell be decided by spinning 'the wheel'

Josh teeth are in the way when he sing. You hear the teeth in every note. Toby, Lukas, Magni made me feel has if I was at a concert right then and there. Those guys are browsing for looks also. Those guys recently mention are a new breed. A new generation you ask me. And if they continue on their paths, they will be truly admire by an outside record company. No one really fit in to their look. Well probably Magni.
