As we told you last month Rock Star: Supernova is being sued by another band called Supernova. The first Supernova says they tried to negotiate with CBS, Mark Burnett, and Supernova, but were forced to seek an injunction against the group and show.
"Our client has taken legal action in order to preserve its rights to the name the band has worked so long and hard to establish," said John Mizhir Jr., an attorney with the San Diego law firm of Fish & Richardson. "We tried to settle the matter quickly and fairly, but after lengthy negotiations with CBS, Mark Burnett Prods. and others, they left us with no options but to seek the preliminary injunction."
I still say it's ridiculous that the unknown Supernova claims to be "harmed" by all of this exposure. Come on, how many hundreds of people had heard of Supernova before, and how many millions now? That's "being harmed" in their warped money-crazed minds?
If they own the name and are a current band they should win the case. The show should have done their homework and since they didn't, they should pay. That's messed up. Even if the original Supernova are not big stars they have the right to stand up for their name.
Don't mind me, I'm just a guest.
