Normally I wouldn't blow the results in the title of the recap, but I'm just so disgusted with tonight's results that I just can't take it. It's not that I mind overly much who went home. It's that she didn't take Soccer Mom home with her. How many more weeks will we have to put up with Patrice Pike on Rock Star: Supernova before Supernova gets the idea that the public doesn't like her? How many weeks has had to at least stand up for the entire elimination show? She has been saved so many times that it's just sickening. Anyhow, on with the recap.
After last night's performance, Storm Large was upset about her performance. She says she took her vocals seriously but not necessarily the song. Ryan Star wondered if she could stay out of the bottom three, while Lukas Rossi thought she would be in the bottom three. Storm watched her performance on v-cast and had no problem with it. She said if they didn't like it, she can't take it personally but she knows she's good enough.
Back to the show and Dave Navarro talked to Storm about her performance. He stood by what he said. Storm said she gave it 1000% as it might not be her favorite but it's someone's favorite. She did the best with the time and material she had. Dave would have liked to have seen a more ironic version, like the one done by a band called Cake. Dave says Storm can take the type of criticism they have been dealing out to her. On to Dave and Toby Rand, Dave commented that people like to see Toby naked.Toby said that it was boring aroudn the house and that for next week he'll run down Melrose Ave. naked.
Then it was time for a special announcement, the band would be performing with someone tonight, as they want to test someone out. The crowd shouts for Dilana. Then we went to a clip, where the rockers had an assignment to check out a new Supernova track. Then they go to the studio to get the news that each week one of the rockers will play with Supernova on one of their original tracks. Each of the rockers sang the same song in the studio, giving Supernova the chance to compare how each rocker would add to the band. Lukas' mouth motions during the recording bothered me a lot. Gilby Clarke, back in the present, says that no one has won yet, and the contest is far from over. But someone has to be the first to sing with them. As a lot of people think a woman can't front the band, they chose Dilana for this week.
Dilana and Supernova performed "Leave the Lights On." I thought it was a great song, I can totally see Dilana with Supernova. I thought the dancing girls were a bit cheesy. It definitely seemed all rehearsed, as Dilana did a bit of a dance too. Jason Newsted thought it was fun and that the dancing girls were a nice touch. Tommy Lee gave the girls a shout out as they were from some club, the name of which I didn't bother to write down.
Jason said the encore tonight went to Ryan. Ryan performed In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins again, about the same as last night. There really wasn't anything new to add to it.
Then it was time for the bottom three. Zayra Alvarez was first into the bottom, leaving Storm outraged. Patrice and Toby Rand were also in the bottom three. As the voting went on, Magni and Storm (who seemed happy to land in the bottom) managed to land in the bottom three at some point too. Dave was surprised as he thought Magni was great. Storm didn't belong there either according to Dave, even if he didn't like the performance last night.
First into the bottom was Zayra. She sang "Razorblade" by Blue October, as it's an intense song. If one only listens to Zayra she's probably not that great. But she is so much fun to watch, I would totally go to her concert! She makes me smile.
Next up was Soccer Mom, and honestly I just want to gouge my ears out at this point. She was originally going to do a ballad as her bottom three song, but decided to change to Celebrity Skin by Hole. Even without watching her you can hear the cheesy smile. I wonder if she can sing anything without being the delighful "I just took a huge dose of Prozac and don't have any real emotions left in my body" Soccer-Mom-ish! UGH! My anger just overwhelms me at this point. She even happily walked out to the Supernova platform.
Magni performed last. He decided on Creep by Radiohead, as it's the anthem of his generation. Honestly he's just a WOW performer. It was completely awesome both stage presence and vocal wise.
Down to decision time, and Gilby tells Zayra that they love risk, and it was a huge risk to do her original and do a song they've never heard. Patrice keeps landing in the bottom three, even though they enjoy her performances. Magni was great last night and tonight and gets to go sit back down. Tommy says that Patrice has potential for Supernova but Zayra doesn't. So Zayra has to go. Come on - Patrice has potential for the band? Give me a * break! It's not so much that they didn't send Soccer Mom home, it's that they said she had potential for the band. That is honestly what made me furious. Send them both home - but no, we had to have a double elimination when Soccer Mom wasn't in the Bottom three thank you ever so much. Zayra got the usual you're so talented speech from Dave and Jason and said that she was honored to be there.
I'm surprised you found the original song from Supernova good...I thought it was forgettably lame. So much so that they actually need something quirky to make it stand-out...unfortunately they sent home the only one who could save it. If they can't be good...at least be different.
I didn't think the Supernova song was all that great. Very generic actually. Gilby's not known as a lead player. He's a rhythm guitarist. He's solid at it, but I think that constrains the song a bit.
Anyway, while I would have liked to have seen Patrice and Zayra get the boot, the decision seemed to make sense to me. Zayra made it this far on charisma/uniqueness/etc. alone. But it has been obvious for weeks that she was never going to be the right vocalist. At least with Patrice you can hear her fronting something that resembles a rock band. But I suspect she'll be the next one to go.
And the group that did the "ironic" version of "I Will Survive" was Cake, not Kink.
are all the talented male performers ie RYAN, TOBY and MAGNI just wasting their time??? To me it seems as though Supernova have already given the job to Dilana! Seriously if anyone thinks she has the most talent there then something is terribly wrong! Maybe Ryan is too talented as a singer to front a band like this but i'm sure Magni and Toby would draw in a better crowd than Dilana. They seriously need to give the other rockers a break and wake up and see that there's more to this audition stage than just frekin DILANA!!!!
Patrice is the suckiest singer/performer on the entire program. She is difficult to watch and even more difficult to listen to!!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhh, she just makes me cringe. She is too old looking to be singing ROCK music like this and she is too nerdy sounding. Infact, she really doesn't even truly "sing" the songs listen close to the way she does it....more like a tlk-like singing. Very odd. actually, and not in a good way. Poor tone to voice and not a quality sound in the least.......certainly NOt rock. She just plain needs to GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll probably be the only one to say this and you guys may want to crucify me, but at this point I don't care. Dilana does absolutely nothing for me and I don't like any of her performances. Sorry anyone who takes offence but thats just me and if SN choose her I will not listen to them or see them at all. Someone said before that she'll probably be the Mig of the second season and I hope they're right. Everyone thought he'd win but when it got to the business end, it was clear he wasn't right for INXS. Hahaha, I share curlios frustration, but rest assured she'll be home very soon. I'm glad the Zayra faze has finally gone, that was painful with a capital P! Magni bottom 3, unexpected. Lukas is falling off a bit and if he doesnt kill the next performance, expect him to be the first in the bottom 3 next week after soccer mum. Starting to like Ryan a bit, but I hate how deep and meaningful his interviews are. Toby to win!! peace.
god god OH MY GAWD..........
she's GON !!!!!ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhkayyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.well itz gud that she left on a high note rather than on a low one. thanx for all the support that everyone showed to MISS ZAYRA ALVAREZ !!!! im sure we're all gonna sriously miss u. evryone will agree - u are gonna make it BIG in spanish. just one word of advice, learn english properly. i know u can do it.
thanx nichole for supporting me and every other zayra lover.
EVERYONE THIS GUY WANTS REVENGE !!! I WANT SOCCER MOM OUT OUT OUT !! PATRICE U WERE GUD BUT NOT UNIQUE !!
NOW THIS ZAYRA LOVER IS GONNA PRAY THAT DILANA WINS!!!!
AU REVOIR ZAYRA
Zayra was the only reason I watched the show. I am glad she didn't win but I would have like to have seen her go further in the competition. Zayra's music pre-Rockstar is so beautiful. I would hate for her to have to do the music Supernova intends to make. If you think about it, Supernova has already laid down their part of the tracks, giving whoever wins the competition (aka Dilana) no creative input towards the music they end up making. So, I think it would be better to go on the show to gain the exposure and finish in second or lower rather than to with the competition.
Oh, and Gilby Clarke is one annoying camera loose woman. He about made me want to quit watching the show even while Zayra was still on there.
totally agree with blakeus69. Dilana is actually annoying me now and I really dont want want her on the show anymore. i think lukas rocks but my fav is toby, not just cos he australian but i think he would rock with supernova. i would definately see/listen to them with toby. but i really wouldnt be intersted in dilana if she was to win. she's become really annoying. sorry but that's my opinion
I think it was definitely time fo Zayra to go .....I have never like her but I do think her original song was her best performance by far but it cemented her fate....she doesn't belong in Supernova......niether does Patrice and I agree they should have sent them both packing.....and I just can't like Ryan....there just something about him that makes him seem like a poser.....Toby does nothing for me.... and Magni needs to go back to his band in Iceland.....Storm and Lukas are both great performers....and they have a chance I think but I love Dilana...she's unique and owns the stage when she's out there.....IMHO
oh yeah.....and I agree that SN's original song was lame at best..... hopefully some of their other stuff is of better quality.
Finally some people who get that dilanna is doing nothing new to sell her. She is relying on her voice which gets annoying after a song or two and everyone else is passing her by.
I think that the song Supernova did was the same song they asked rockers to write for. If you listen to the full versions on MSN, there are so many more that are better than what Supernova did last night. Go listen to Lukas' ... that was a hit...Supernova's version was a miss.
I think ryan is too "severe" for supernova... they are much more goofy. Toby, magni and lukas seem to fit better.
Patrice is getting worse voally. Last nights song was vocally horrible.
Anyways, I will not miss Z's songs and her lack of any kind of understanding about what Supernova was about

I hate to actually come down on Patrice's side in anything, but Rock and Roll (unlike the pop world) is not a young person's exclusive domain. Rock and Roll is for old folks too. Look at the Rolling Stones - they're dead and still rocking.
And darn what is drawing all the Dilana haters here Y'all are just coming to annoy me. I adore her, and you'll just have to live with it. You won't change my mind - I love Dilana. I think Magni might be a better fit for the band though, personality wise and performance wise.
As for the pro-Toby people - well to each their own, but I think Toby is as empty as the Ken Doll that I refer to him as. He's there for looks only. His performances are usually forgettable at best.
Oh, and I fixed the Cake - Kink thing. I swear, it sounded like Kink when he said it and while I know Cake's version I didn't connect the dots. I was just too blissfully happy that I didn't have to go back and rewind for any comments.

[..]
Toby to win!! peace.
And to me Toby has been unable to impress me but once. I find his performances overall rated; Mild.
Ryan is slowly growing on me though.
Luckily we all have different opinions, otherwise it would be quite boring, and generally we don't crucify people for arguing their own point of view, even if theirs are different from ours ;)
I think the three front runners (in no particular order) at the moment are: Magni, Dilana and Lukas.
Lukas keeps singing the way that Chris Daughtry (from American Idol) did. And some people might remember I didn't like Chris singing from his throat.. Lukas keeps doing the same thing, and is dropping in my list towards the bottom. (though he can save himself, as he proved he can sing properly last week).
I don't think Storm and Patrice have any chance of making it fronting the band.
The others are I think still possible. I don't think the band has made their mind up who they want to win yet. (unlike with INXS, which I think they already knew it at nearly the beginning who they wanted.)
Blakeus69 said: I'll probably be the only one to say this and you guys may want to crucify me, but at this point I don't care. Dilana does absolutely nothing for me a
Well Blake, I partially agree with you. I like Dilana's look, her spirit of play but she could take a lesson or two from Stormyweather with the humility, bit, of which so far she is the champ of all time. I can't believe what a good attitude and how she supports all the other Rockers,... me like z Amazon Momma! And, I think she has a super sence of humor and is super smart, for a rock singer.
About, Dilana's voice, well, a dozen songs with that voice would be like listening to "Cat Scratch Fever" for a dozen times in a row.
Latin Swirl, gosh she will be missed. I know my Curlio, Beanstalker, and Sister Nikki, will be heartbroken. But, I have always been a bottom line kinda' guy, she got great exposure, and if and I think there is, a market for what she's got, we will hear plenty from her. Maybe more the the whole Supernova effort, in the long run.
Patrice may be a queen personally in Texas but, their is something missing, I don't like her at all, and I was initially
interested in her. It is like she is demanding respect for what she has done, not what she can do for us now. I dunno!
I still think they were way to harsh with Stormy. I would really like to see all the rocker perform three songs each that they think best represents them to give us more insight into them, the diso and cat's cradle song, did nothing for me or them, I use to have a semi-talented friend who could sing any section of the phone book as a joke, very quick but, once you've seen it.....
Well, SN was not all that impressive, I like the house band better.... sooo
I love the watch the reality show and the performances. And, a little note, the ratings finally went up, yeahhhhh!
Sparky, just from the brief clip they showed of Lukas, I have changed my mind. Lukas is clearly the best fit for the band.
Obviously the crowd loves Dilana, and she's clearly the most talented *singer* of the bunch .. but I question her creativity now .. or maybe she's complacent, as I said yesterday. First to play with Supernova as a whole, I expected far more. I also remember now why I tossed Gilby's solo album out the car window after 1 listen.
I'm darned glad I taped the show instead of watching it live ... I was able to fast forward past Ryan's atrocious encore. Horrid.
Magni did well in the save-yer-butt perfromance, but ..Creep? Cmon. Are we gonna here more Nirvana retreads now too?
I was unsure at first about Za-yra's song ... but got into it after a bit. She comes so far out of left field, and it's so far removed from the bubblegum thats force fed over the radio that it takes some getting used too. Cool performance. I noticed that all 3 of the band members were digging it, but Dave Navarro hated it .. and Dave jumper up immediately after and ran to whiper intently to Jason. A directive to get rid of her?
Whatever, Za-yra went out with a bang, got maximum exposure from the show, and gets a headstart on the studio.
Patrice ..Patrice's performazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Hmm? Oh ..sorry, fell asleep there.
Talentwise, I think it's now a two man competition - Lukas and Dilana, but I think Lukas is the better fit for the band. From the brief clips of the original, if there's a third contender, it's a surprising one - Toby. (Aside from the fact that Tommy Lee seems to have gone bi and acts as if he has the hots for him.)
Storm Large has fallen now from my original top three to the bottom three of the remaining singers. Patrice just HAS to go. And if Ryan butchers another song like he has the past two weeks, he should follow Patrice out the door .. if not precede her.
Toby? Please, he survives due to Aussie / Kiwi votes. Let’s face one fact and be honest about it – regionalism plays a part in such programmes and I sincerely don’t think that is anything wrong – but – I do have a problem, if regionalism saves undeserving contestants and thankfully, Toby does not belong in the undeserving category!
Don’t get me wrong, I am sure he must have fans everywhere besides Australia and Zealand, but like last year, he survives at the end of voting worldwide like MiG, because of regional votes, but the difference is, as far as my memory serves me, MiG never featured in Bottom Three - Ever – Not even at the end of the show (Obviously, idiots like me power-voted for MiG – I miss him!) He featured in Bottom Three only once – when Suzie was eliminated!
My problem with Toby is that he tries too hard – he needs to relax! And no one can ever say that this bunch is not talented, but it’s about the charisma – you either have it or you don’t! And for me, Toby lacks something and I cannot put my finger on what that is!
As far as Dilana goes – I think I finally realize what J.D. fans were on about last year! No matter how well he performed – I could not appreciate it as I hated him. So it is no big surprise that people hate her. I must share that love – hate is great – it is the neutral stance that can be damaging! Curlio, I am with you, I love her – but then our choices mesh and hence I joined this site as a member! Woo hoo! LOL!
Oh Will, Dilana has to act confident now – I mean many people raised an eyebrow when she acted all modest after the first encore and frankly I am glad that she acts like a bitch at times because if she would have stayed in her modest mode, people would have complained it was an act that went too far – so she was darned anyway!
And if you think about it clearly – Dilana wants to fight – If she did not – she would not have asked Lukas to do Creep, a song that earned him an encore! Also her trick on Toby earned Toby the compliment that he would do anything to be in the band.
Also, yes I totally agree that her lyrics sucked more than Stop/Go, but I was very glad, because if she would have come up with fantastic lyrics, I sincerely think there is no reason for the competition to continue.
So there’s my two bits!
Oh, I completely forgot – Magni’s choice was so clever – I don’t belong here! LOL! Also, his performance was so cute that for some moments he looked like his son – darn smart and too cute! Yep, I would love if Magni wins – if the gender card comes to play! Oh yeah, power-vote for Magni please!

Oh Will, Dilana has to act confident now I mean many people raised an eyebrow when she acted all modest after the first encore and frankly I am glad that she acts like a * at times because if she would have stayed in her modest mode, people would have complained it was an act that went too far so she was darned anyway!
And if you think about it clearly Dilana wants to fight If she did not she would not have asked Lukas to do Creep, a song that earned him an encore! Also her trick on Toby earned Toby the compliment that he would do anything to be in the band.

i please!
I have finally discovered young a-Sprouteese (aka Achilles) weakness, it's his passion, yes, it doth blind him. Yon wicked witch doth malign his humors to percieve him a
cherub!
...as bad as everyone thought Patrice was,she was still a h*ll of alot better than that imbecile Zayra ever was, considering the presurre.Zayra even admitted she couldn't believe she lasted as long as she did???? Zayra is now free to return to her job at the Holiday Inn' cleaning rooms or detasle corn.Magni is decent, but really has shown me sh*t.(family man,not metal enough,no attitude!) Time to go back to Icetown! Sprinkles (aka Storm) is in her own little world if she thought her performance was good,as she is more suited to dance at the Crazy Horse than front a band.---By the way i would like to give congrats to "Supernova" on sounding like a verryyyyy average rock band last night**kudos .Having dancing girls during the song was a bunch of bull jive-c'mon thats about Janet Jackson crap there!-Actually ive seen Motley do that and it sucked when they did it too.-----Maybe next week someone will wear khakis and a sweater on stage and do Steve Miller Band tune'...... PUKE !
Zayra sang out of key many times. "Weird costumes "does not equal "performer". I would not pay a dime to see her perform.
Toby is just too lightweight. He's likable but he's not the best fit for supernova except they seem to like his personality.
I like Magni more with each week. He could win.
Dilana is exciting to watch and has a great voice. She should win but probably won't.
Patrice will be gone next week.
Ryan is too intense and not a good fit because he doesn't look like one of the boys.
Lukas. I honestly don't know what everyone likes about him. iI think he sounds strangled and forced. Whatever. not crazy about the haircut either - Skunk-hawk.
Storm. I like when she sings harmony. She's hot. She has potential.
And who the F***ck are you? Do you have any idea how many fans Patrice had before this show? You are so angry...I totally get why you don't like her. She is not fronting her peace and happiness. Maybe you should take some prozac and see what everyone else sees!

Peace, And an BIG Texas Smile to Ya
Hey Tex, do you Texas folk ever have, say, differing opinions or are you pretty singleminded folk. Inquiring minds want to know? Will
IMHO the competition is between Dilana and Lukas.....the rest should be eliminated and let the two of them fight it out for the rest of the season.
We have to remember, who is RIGHT for Supernova.....I think Dilana and Lukas look like they belong. Magni, Ryan, Toby, Storm definitely have better voices, but just don't think they mesh with Tommy and the guys.
I am rooting for Dilana now.....I think her performances are captivating and I love her "Janis Joplin" tone. Also, I think she can handle this band.
You have got to be kidding! Zayre should have been gone weeks ago. It was really an insult to the other singers each week to keep her=great person, not a rocker. I agree Patrice will probably exit soon.
C'mon, wot's yr problem, just because she's a mom? I think she redeems herself & deserves the chances. Maybe she dosen't hav the bod or is young enuf for you.
