 Luther Vandross' mother highlights diabetes deaths curlio

Health Luther Vandross' mother is using the one year anniversary of Luther's death and an upcoming greatest hits CD release to highlight the danger of diabetes. Mary Ida Vandross has lost her husband, three of her four children, and one grandchild to diabetes-related complications.
"It is with me daily that my family was taken from me," Vandross told Reuters in a telephone interview. "Diabetes is really dangerous. Just get yourself checked."
The lastest greatest hits CD being released includes two new songs that were recorded before Luther suffered a stroke two years before his death.
