Tonight's Rock Star: Supernova put a few suprising people into the bottom three. Two of the three were not in the bottom three before. The person eliminated was no surprise however. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have a nice long recap to go through before we get to that!
Brooke Burke announced that the voting this week had doubled from last week. It was also the most votes they had gotten in two seasons of Rock Star. Then we were off to the recap of last night, including Dilana's drama. Back at the mansion after the show everyone toasted to a kick *show. Magni said everyone was at their best, but half will be in the bottom three. Storm hasn't been in the bottom three, but did have to stand up several times. She says you never know what will happen, but Ryan is convinced he or Magni will go home. Storm tries to tell him that he doesn't know what will happen. Lukas said that he hopes he will take it like a man if he's in the bottom three.
Back to the show for the interview section. Dave Navarro congratulated the rockers for the best show they have probably had to date. Talking to Storm Large, Dave tells her that she has stood several times but not had to sing. Yet Storm always seems to want to sing. Storm says that any chance to rock for these guys and with the band is good for her. Dave liked that answer, but wondered what it would feel like to be in the bottom three. Storm said it would be good to get the chance to kick the snot out of something again.
Dave talked to Dilana about friends, asking if they are all friends now. He wonders if it will be hard to say goodbye to anyone. Dilana says it will be extremely hard, like losing a limb. She says she will cry today. They teased her because she didn't really stand up at first when she started talking, then when she did stand it still didn't look like she was standing. Last up was a conversation with Magni about the In Touch photo shoot, as Magni says he hated it. Dave asks him if he realized that's a part of the gig. Magni says he realized it after sitting for four hours. Dave interrupted with something about locations, and Magni teased him telling him not to interrupt him. Magni says he totally had to do that. Dave tells him it's his show sucka. Dave adds that the whole season he's been saying that he has nothing to do with the voting and no influence over Supernova. Dave says he lied.
Jason Newsted said that they have a new Supernova song to sing tonight. I think the title was "It's On" - though I'm not overly sure. Lukas Rossi gets the chance to sing with the band, though I was shocked that we didn't get video of everyone singing it. I wasn't overly fond of the song. Lukas mumbled through a lot of it. He didn't seem to be wearing as much make-up this time either I might add.
Then we had the revelation of who won the Windows Live Spaces contest (Rob Carlos of Seattle). Gilby Clarke announced that the remaining five rockers after tonight would go off to a songwriting clinic with Gilby, where they would get to write a new Supernova song.
This week's encore went to Toby Rand, who once again performed Rebel Yell. This time he didn't pull the teenies up onstage with him, he went out to them. He first went to the rockers platform, then wandered out to the back of the audience. It was a good performance overall.
After the voting started, Ryan Star, Storm Large, and Lukas were in the bottom three. As voting went on, Toby and Dilana joined them in the bottom. Yes, that left Magni as the only person not standing. Dave wondered if Brooke told everyone with hair to stand up. He was surprised, as after last night's performances no one should be standing. Tommy Lee said there was one heck of a party in Iceland right now.
First into the bottom was Ryan, who decided to blow everyone's mind by performing a song by The Who - Baba O'Riley. He got a champagne bottle, brought out by Toby, and shook it up onto the audience. He ran around the stage like a madman convinced it was his last time up there. Gilby didn't look too impressed as Ryan climbed onto the monitors and then jumped off. It was a performance of pure adrenaline.
Next into the bottom three was Storm, who was happy to be in the bottom as she gets to rock again. She decided to perform Helter Skelter, calling it probably one of the first punk rock songs. Storm too performed like she was nuts, running out the the Supernova platform and flopping onto Tommy's lap. She walked back to the stage, then flopped into the audience.
Toby was told he was safe, leaving either Lukas or Dilana to be in the bottom. Dilana was next, leaving Tommy wondering what happened. Dilana said she screwed up and this was her redemption. She performed Psycho Killer by the Talking Heads. Overall it too was a good performance, but one performed like a madwoman.
On to judgement, where Gilby told Ryan that he has come the farthest so far. He isn't the same Ryan that started the competition and the performance tonight was one of the best audience receptions so far. Storm, with her first time in the bottom three, has given some solid performances but hasn't grown much. Dilana has earned so much credit with them so far. Tommy told Ryan that he's the next to go. Dave told Ryan that he's a big fan of him, that he has talent. He said he's the most evolved they have had on the show. Ryan was disappointed, but seemed to know it was coming. He told the band that with him as the lead singer they could have made 20 years of great music and he's sorry for that. He will return to solo music now.
Is it just me or were the performances lacking tonight. They had the performance factor going, but vocally it just didn't pop like last night did. It was good, but by comparison it falls flat. All three of the bottom three performed like they were manic, desperate to stay in the competition.
What happened to Dilana? She seemed to lose her spot in the song. At one point, she stood in the middle of the stage and seemed totally out of place. Disappointing.
Holy crap I'm shocked. I really thought Storm would go. But I guess they feel she has some potential to fit in with the band.
I agree, the band blowing smoke out their collective a** when they said everyone tonight was great. I beg to differ. I think "manic" is a good word to describe the peformances.
Storm was okay. Ryan's intensity annoyed me (and cause him to be off key, I think at times) and Dilana messed up with one of the verse lyrics and totally forgot the bridge lyrics. I realize 1/3 of the song is in French and David Byrne writes some really odd lyrics. But still, there aren't a lot of lyrics to that song, so it shouldn't be that hard to remember.
That was probably her worst performance. But there was no way she was getting the boot because of her past performances.
Also, I beg to differ with Brooke saying this is the first time in Rockstar history they knew who got the most votes. No, it just means Magni was never in the bottom three. He just as easily could have had the 2nd or 3rd most votes if Toby or Lukas supporter ralied before the end of voting.
I missed the end of the results show and I am stunned to see that Ryan was cut instead of Storm! I guess he needed long blond hair, a nice chest and better legs. Note: I am female and can that!!!
you have got to be kidding me.......letting ryan go?????? me and my husband are huge fans and that was the biggest mistake you made yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ryan was beter than storm and dilila (or whatever)!!!!! lost us as fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i think if ya all listen close to the voices and not the looks it will be dilana or storm. personally delina is kinda freaky but she is good at what she does.....tommy seems to like her well. but id like to see dilana with less make up and less piercings if music dont work i thinks she is pretty under all the make up.........good luck dilana keep up the good work......and as for all that was said the last time....your right no one is perfact you go girl !!!!!!!!!!
Dilana is a complete tool... why cant they vote her off the supernova island... she brings nothing to the table accept the fact she ran naked around the pool
stunnnnnned...!! shocked, very angry angry...can i say pissed. Ryan can sing !!!!!Ryan and
Chris (from that other show haha) i'll buy your cd
Storm has gotta go. i cant even watch her sing
what? ryan kickout of the competition? that was a real shock..he was my bet ..well its kinda obvious that magni will be the man for supernova this is true because we dont have ryan now, wannna bet? .rock on..neil from the PHILIPPINES..ciao
Hell I cant belive Ryan Gone....Gee Broster gone....Me Sad...but i think he will survive, & he will make a great solo artist, he with his piano,,, center stage...I see him easily there. He has good vocals, stage presence, but maybe not cut for SuperNova,,,I guess the race is between now (I hate to admit) between Lukas & Dilana. Though in heart of my heart I want Magni to win this.
Well there can only going to be one winner and I think it will be Lukas. I thought this from week 1 .He looks like he fits into the band and he's good!
I was a fan of Dilana at first but she has shown she is an arrogant fool and I all the piercings, tatts, make up and crazy hair all looks a bit contrived to me and personally, I think she looks like she might stink and is need of a good tub.
My sentimental choice is Toby because he's an Aussie and he's cute, down to earth and looks like he could handle the sudden celebrity that would be thrust upon him. However, maybe the boys are a little threatened by his obvious attraction for the ladies and that he would get all the female attention...who knows.
Anyway, I don't think I'll be buying the Supernova album no matter who wins. These singers will all hopefully continue with successful careers after the show.
Dilana, a Tool??? Come on.....
What show have you been watching?
She Rocks, every single time she takes the stage. Vibrant, energetic, knocks 'em dead.
If she doesn't win, somethings wrong.....
Agree with Curl and MirrorB, the performances did seem a bit manic. I think Ryan is really good, but not right for SN, to which I think he realized that as well. Storm seemed like she just wanted to have a good time, but the vocals seemed really off. Dilana's song seemed forced.
My man Magni. Geez, I like him more and more each time I see him. And he doesn't even have to sing?! I am a sad little woman.....
If you can't be a good example, then be a horrible warning!
finally, some taste from SN! Ryan just does not fit in with the heavy rock in fluence of SN members. Luckas is the best fit and most creative of all the contestants. You rock luckas, and good luck from a fellow Canadian fan!!!!!!
I am amazed at just how fickle and shallow most people are with their likes and dislikes...for weeks nothing but praise and admiration for Dilana but after she displays a lack of tact, everyone forgets about her being "one of the best performers.
I am blown away by the sheep mentality displayed by former Dilana fans who have allowed themselves to be easily persuaded by SNova production's choice of "villian of the week". If you truly had liked Dilana from the beginning, then you should be able to allow Dilana's past performances to speak for themselves...this contest is not "Rockstar: the best behaved and politically correct"...it's about picking a lead singer that is a performer and knows how to rock!
Dilana did indeed make statements that should not have been said...I cringed as I watched but at the end, I realized whether it was arrogance or just plain not thinking before speaking: she was already spanked by being publically humiliated.
She is still the same performer now as she was in the beginning..."outstanding" and she still outperforms the rest. Whether she's right for Supernova, I don't know but she and Magni are the only one's I would pay to see perform and know for sure that I won't be asleep (Toby) by the end of the show.
I am sure everyone can remember an embarrassing incident or misspoken phrase that impacted your professional life in which you too were asking for understanding from someone that had your future in their hands. (Let's not even talk about personal lives...everyone's mistakes could refill an ocean.)
so sad to see ryan go, he's my bet!!! i don't think am going to watch the show again...why did they let go of him if they told him he has improved a lot for the past weeks? how ironic!!! hope to see ryan soon with his originals and a rockin' album!!!
And the winner will be.................TOBY
Read between the lines guys! Dave & SN are constantly making comments to bolster support for him.
SN isn't metal...barely Rock...listen to their songs. Toby is the only one who made the SN tracks barelable.
