Sunday Night Football has changed networks, and will therefore change theme songs. It used to be Hank Williams who welcomed football fans to their usual Sunday Night game. Now it will be pop star Pink, who recorded "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night." The song is set to Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You."
"We chose Pink as the signature voice because she is a tremendous talent with a crossover appeal that makes her relevant to all segments of our audience," said Fred Gaudelli, who will produce the Sunday night broadcasts for NBC.
I'm not sure most football fans even know who Pink it, but I suppose that's okay with them. I don't think they really tune in to hear the theme anyhow.
I saw her song on the opening night of NFL on Thursday. Granted, it was not with my beloved Patriots, and the Steelers should NOT get comfortable with that Thursday spot, as my Pats WILL RETURN!!
um, yeah, back to on topic: Pink did a good job, but I'm just not sure it has the "oomph" to replace Hank Williams, at least with the predominanetly male/macho crap that goes with football. Seems us women are in the minority as to being card carrying "gotta watch my team beat the sh*t outta" football junkies. (now, if they got a cute male singer for this spot, I for one would be a very happy gurl! :)
