Supernova has won a lawsuit against Supernova, which means that Supernova is no longer allowed to perform as Supernova and Supernova will have to change their name into something other than Supernova. Okay, now that I've confused all, we'll dub them Little Supernova and TV Supernova. If you recall that as Rock Star: Supernova began, another group, which we're calling Little Supernova, sued TV Supernova claiming that Little Supernova already existed and TV Supernoca should have to change their name and pay damages. In August, Little Supernova sued Mark Burnett Productions and TV Supernova for an injunction to force them to stop using the name. Today, the injunction was granted, which means our show tonight will have a new name!
"The ruling is a major victory for Supernova, especially since it has been announced on several occasions that our client's case had no merit," says Supernova attorney John Mizhir, Jr. "This is sweet justice. The order also proves that the law does not discriminate. The band members have worked
hard for the past 17 years to establish the name Supernova and they are entitled to continue to perform without any other parties -- large or small -- infringing on their rights."
That statement was from Little Supernova, for the record. So, any suggestions for TV Supernova? Perhaps they could go with S'Nova - sort of an abbreviation?

mirrorball, thanks for that post regarding the lawsuit. Wonder if the show will announce anything tonight.
So what do we know today that we didn't last week? Not much, everyone have their own favorites.
I was trying to ask myself this question, "If you get to pick the singer, who would you pick and why is your pick the best for SN?". Further question is best in what sense? I simply narrowed it down to one word, "Success".
So who has shown the best potential to bring SN future successes? Define success. Best-selling album, sold-out concerts, Billboard chart hits, popularity/fame .. to name a few.
The problem is there's no clear guarantee path to success, otherwise, every artist can make it to the top. IMO one thing will help for sure though, and that's TALENT! SN can provide the other part of the equation, and that's OPPORTUNITY. Is there a diamond in the rough or a big shining star in this pool?
In the beginning, Dilana was clearly the shining star, even SN had used the word 'Star' to address Dilana in their earlier comments. However this "star" has its ups and downs but it's trying to make a comeback, showing signs of her excellencies once again yesterday. Is it convincing enough?
When I think of Lukas, I think of raw talent. He is the diamond in the rough, showing potentials that can be polished into a high quality jewel. I have seen Lukas grown throughout the competition, eg., he is sounding better now that he doesn't constrict his voice as much.
Last comment which I didn't want to mention all this time... but why is it that I think that the house band sounded better than SN? Congrats Lukas.. there goes the end!! Ha-ha... what are you guys watching after this? :-)

I don't know if the injunction will stick. Generally unless you have filed a copy right or can establish a long history of use and the public has associated that name with your work/group it is still open to all to use.
This isn't the first time a Musical group has encountered something of this nature. The one that pops to my mind is actually Kiss. _ only because I caught it on a that gene simmons show about a month ago. LOL
The thing that I found most intresting about the show tonight is the stark difference between magni and the others specifically Toby. Magni is about the music and it shows in his presence and performance. Toby has more fan interaction and his showmanship is superior.
Isn't it a bit spoilerish to keep dropping the name of the winner in these posts? I mean if the topic said "Rockstar:Whoever pick their WINNER" and you clicked on that, you would deserve to see the winner, but reading last nights recap, and getting tonights end result, or about the law suit, it's not really fair for people who want to find out later...
I think it's a good thing they don't have a name now, the winner gets to imput with the other three...
Am I the only one who thought the audio sounded different one Lukas performed with the band? I've noticed they switch cameras for SN performances (to digital, I think -- not HDTV, but digital video) in previous shows. The audio seemed mixed /EQ'd in a way that smoothed out some of Lukas' more annoying vocal tics.
evs or Dilana should have won to make this stupid little band a a sucess cause they have just wrecked it by picking skunk boy..you cant even understand his lyrics as he mumbles or screams >>
so it looks like the spoiler about skunk boy was right all along....so much for reality, your votes aren't worth squat if the decision has been made in advance....even if it was a fraud contest it was a good platform for some talented young musicians to get a foot in the door, gain recognition, etc...at least we enjoyed most of the music over the summer, and I'm no longer as shocked to see all those piercings in faces....I didn't want Lukas to win, but he did sound pretty good playing with Tommy, Gilby and Jason at the end...
Uh, they said Lukas did get the most votes, at least after the Tuesday show. And if enough people had wanted someone else, Lukas would have been in the bottom three more often.
But either way, they've never said the voters decide the winner. Both seasons it's always been the band that has the final say.
