Rock Star: Supernova picks a winner

Well we finally have our answer of who is the right person to front Supernova, even if we're not sure what the band's name will be after the show. In case you missed it, "Little Supernova" won an injunction against TV Supernova, making them unable to use the name after tonight. You can read all about that here. Anyhow the result was slightly predictable, but still fun to watch!

Dave Navarro started out by telling the four remaining rockers that they are incredible and that no matter who Supernova picks they will have a great choice. Brooke Burke then said that the bottom two will perform, and then one will be eliminated. The top three will then each perform, with Supernova picking the winner afterwards. Magni, Toby Rand, and Lukas Rossi were all in the bottom two at some point in the voting, leaving Dilana firmly perched on top.

First into the bottom was Magni, who performed Fire by Jimi Hendrix, the song that saved him from the bottom three earlier in the season. He played and sang wonderfully on the song. You can tell that House Band likes performing with him when he's up there. He's definitely a bandmate not just a frontman who will think only of himself. He's the guy other musicians want to play with.

Next into the bottom two was Toby, who performed White Wedding by Billy Idol. It was a nice performance as well. I find it funny that Toby and Magni, the best singers of the final four, are both in the bottom. At the end, he jumped out into the audience again, as usual.

Gilby Clarke then lied, saying this was a hard decision (we all know it wasn't hard). He said everyone grew and contributed so much. All things considered Magni has been a talented musician and plays great with a band. But he doesn't think Magni is fronting a band as much as being part of it. And I swear that I had my bit above written before Gilby said all that. Dave said that Magni has been a consistent singer and wished him luck. Magni thanked the fans who voted, and the houseband. He said he just wants to be in the House band, not to front them. He thanked Supernova for giving him the best summer of his life.

Did we all notice the Survivor clip that featured Lukas' song Headspin? I wonder if that was a sign of the answer? At this point when I'm pondering this, we don't have our winner yet.

Then we watched clips from each of the final three, and they told Supernova why they should be picked. Lukas' clip said he wouldn't have come her for second place. He wants to win this as the best is yet to come. Dave told him he has shown so much diversity. Lukas told Supernova that they could have been mean if they wanted to, they could have been egocentric. But they are all amazing guys and it would be his honor to lead them.

Dilana's clip had her saying that they're all good. She said you have to fight for the things you want in your life, and added that she needs Supernova and they need her. Dave told her that she has shown herself to be a fighter, strong and determined. Dilana told Supernova that they need someone who is 1000% dedicated to representing great rock and music. Lukas is amazing, Toby is incredible but she's the one.

Toby in his clip said that it's been the best time of his life. He says he's climbing and he thinks he has a great chance to win. Dave told Toby that he has grown into one heck of a performer. Toby thanked them all for their advice. He said that the energy he has brought to the stage wouldn't compare to what he could do when he's had a few beers before a show. He added that he's the tallest too.

Then of course they all performed again. It was a whirlwind of performance, not really deserving of a paragraph a piece. Lukas was first up with Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve. Dilana performed Zombie by the Cranberries. Toby was last up with the Killers hit Somebody Told Me. After the performances, Brooke gave House Band credit for a summer of great rock.

Then Jason Newsted told Toby that he has great vocal ability, and his range just cuts through no matter how loud the guitar gets. Toby steps up the performances each week, but he'll be the next to go home. Dave told Toby he has been amazing to watch grow. Toby thanked them for the best time ever. He said that to come third to Lukas and Dilana who have been consistently great was awesome. Supernova made the safe choice as it took Toby awhile to become great but Lukas and Dilana always have been. He thanked them for teaching him so much.

Brooke then stood onstage with the final two, Lukas and Dilana. Dave told Brooke it looked like she was performing a Goth Wedding. Gilby said they need another break before deciding.

Tommy Lee told Lukas that his energy, the way he moves, and his vocals are amazing. Dilana meanwhile has an enchanting voice. Any band would listen to their fans and the winner had the highest number of votes last night and that was Lukas (many sighs of relief from me). Dave told Dilana that he adores her and wants her to come play with House Band when they tour. Gilby offered to help her write and produce a record, which he was only doing for her. Dave wants to play for her, Tommy added that he's down for that. Dilana promised her fans that she will put out a CD with Gilby and Dave's help.

Brooke then wondered if they were forgetting something. Dave said he needed to be entertained. So Supernova with their new lead singer Lukas went off to perform. They performed "Be Yourself," then followed that with some talking about buying tickets and such. Magni then came back out to play guitar for "It's All Love." as the show signed off. Brooke promised they will be back next summer!

For next summer I suggest that they either find an entire band with House Band doing the judging, or do a battle of the bands with House Band judging. I, like many others, would also like a setting for a female band where a female has a better chance of winning as well. I'd also like to see a whole season of the rockers making their own music. It would save a lot of hassle over song repeats.

We apologize for the lateness of our recap, as we had a nifty little thunderstorm here that created a few problems for our internet provider. As I write this, we still can't connect. Hopefully we'll be able to get it up while today is still today! Well, I'm sitting at the library at the moment, putting this up. We'll be getting a new internet provider, as we're convinced our provider either was very stupid and did not have a surge protector or simply didn't start working on the problem until 9am this morning. We can think of no other reason an itty bitty thunderstorm could have caused this long of an outage.

Oh, and I think that Survivor commercial wasn't supposed to be on until later in the show.

The number totals would have been something like this: Dilana 450 Toby 350 Lukas 150 Magni 50 Then in the middle of the voting, fans of everyone kick into overdrive and we have 10,000 votes and it looks something like this: Lukas 4500 Dilana 3500 Toby 1500 Magni 500 That means that so far, Magni, Toby, and Lukas have all been in the bottom two. Now by the end of the voting, we have 100,000 votes in Lukas is clearly on top with 45,000 votes - BUT was in the bottom during the first stage, as his fans were slow on the draw but voted like mad near the end of the voting. Dilana is second with 35,000 - but was never in the bottom, her votes were consistent. Toby is in third place with 15,000 and is in the bottom two Magni is in last place with 5,000 and has always been in the bottom. I hope I've made this clear, once and for all - Those who "stand up" for elimination night are NOT necessarily lower in votes than those who get to sit down. ANYONE who was not in the bottom X can be the leader for the night, even over those who did not stand. This is why Dilana thought she was the leader all season, and why she thought she won, and why her fans thought she won. But she did NOT, as it's a misconception that not standing equals being the leader.

It probably didn't help things a few weeks back when Magni was the only one not in the bottom three and Brooke Burke said something to the effect that this was the first time in RS history that they knew who got the most votes during a week of the regular competition. Maybe they told her the vote totals and that's how they know. I hate the way Brooke said Magni got the most votes the week he was the only one not standing, no wonder Dilana got it wrong when Brooke gave every one the (incorrect) impression that's how it works

Shows that are remotely connected to music are as follows � America�s Got Talent Celebrity Duets Dancing With The Stars Well that's all I can think of... People can add more shows with keeping the music connection in mind!

	I can't believe that Lukas won! He was the one person that I was sure wouldn't win. I didn't like his original song at all. But Storms original blew me away. I don't think that Lucas had a particularly good or unique voice, good song writting ability, or good looks. What is the deal? I think that either Magni or Toby would have been a much better choice. It's craziness!!

	Our new member Bill put this on RSGH as a brain teaser, hTHIS WEEK'S ODE... WEBIShave you seen it, did it happen??? Will THIS WEEK'S Webisode . . . . . . . MARK BURNETT DOES HAVE A HEART AFTER ALL...EVEN IF LUKAS DOESN'T! I thought it was GREAT that even though Mark Burnett's tacit admition that this years Rock Star - Super was a definite NO VA (for those of you in this country who haven't become bilingual yet that means NO GO by not even having the orginal 15 contestants show up for The Finale... that he did in fact invite them back to the masion one last time. And while Lukas was "partying hardy" at some West Hollywood club with Tommy Lee and The Boys, leaving his girlfriend at the curb...The other 14 were driven by a HUGE Hummer limosine back to The Mansion for one last look at where they had their dreams and had them broken. I especially thought it was GREAT that so many people came up and apologized to Dilana for all the SH!T she had taken during Dilana DramaRama week, with admissions from RYAN, TOBY and STORM that they too had "named names" when talking to the Lady Biotch from LA's STAR 94 and were happy (but felt GUILTY) that Mark Burnett didn't include any of their comments in his editing. I guess the HONDA sponsorship ended at Midnight because Dave arrived about 1:00 am in a jet black Ferarri and looked genuinely GLAD to be here partying with these ROCKERS than hanging out with Tommy Lee and Lukas. Or perhpas, his name was left off the West Hollywood guest list too. The scenes of ex-Rocker's looking into now empty bed rooms, like the empty promises Mark Burnett had made them were appropriate melancholy and bitter sweet and I think a "tip of the hat" to "us" Rock Star viewers who now have "nothing" to look forward to and must make of of lives what we can without a Rock Star fix 3 times a week. If you noticed... In the pool scenes where clothing was "definitely optional", there were NO GLASS GLASSES... ALL DRINKS were contained in basic NON-BREAKABLE plastic cups. I have to admit that I was one of the people that NEVER got Zayra on any level ever. Not musically, not fashion wise and ESPECIALLY not in the "looks" department, but I must say... even through the "blurry cloud" I could tell that "naked" she must have something to offer as TOBY, RYAN and JOSH just could NOT take their eyes off her. Of course it wouldn't be a webisode without a trip to the Song Selection Library and to see one extremely expensive Gibson Jumbo with a Sunburst finish sitting underneath the corkboard with an envelope slid between the strings with MAGNI's name on it... I KNEW something was up. He opened the letter and it said... MAGNI... Thanks for being a participant, in this years event. We polled our camera people and production assistants and asked the WHO... in their opinion (and they were there 24/7) did they feel was THE most selfless person and WHO helped others to achieve their goals as much as they looked out for themselves and it was unanimoues, that YOU were seen playing the acoustic guitar helping everyone (even Lukas though it was never aired) by accompanying people acoustically as they worked on their songs. So, THIS is from Gibson/Epiphone and from us... The Band formerly known as Super NO VA... a gift as a way of saying Thank-you and being this seasons MOST VALUABILL PARTICIPANT. Oh... and keep it safe, in good condition and "in tune" because... when YOU go on the Road with The House Band and Dilana as part of the opening act for This "Super Group's" Tour... We will be asking you to join Gilby on stage from time to time and add your musical and guitar expertise to helping fill out our sound and make our Super NO VA tracks come to life... And now one last time... Would you pick a song and lead your fellow Rockers in one last song. Sincerely... Tommy, Gilby, Jason Unfortunately it was a Icelandic Beer Drinking Song and I would have stood a better chance at understanding Lukas sing Vulva Del Mar in Spanish, but this must not have been the 1st time the Rockers had sung this song as THEY all seemed to know it. And somehow they managed to work in some of TO OO OO OO OO OO BY's "OO OO's" into the chorus...VERY COOL. The sing-a-long must have continued waaaaay into the early morning hours as you could hear the strains of WE ARE THE WORLD floating in from the pool area as a camera followed Mark Burnett around an eerily empty Rock Star Mansion... He must have been wanting to make sure he got ALL of his damage deposit back as he seriously looked as if he was checking to see if any REAL damage had been done and assessing just how hard it would be to get cake and beer stains out of Persian Rugs. Let's hope he gets his $$$ back and let's hope they haven't turned the place back into a "convent" and that there will be a Rock Star III to Glory over and BITCH about if need be. have you seen it, did it happen??? MomRocks, this is an imaginary re-cap of an idealic reality show, sort of a reality show that should have been buy our new memeber Bill Lanta, I have to admit I was a bit timid and looked for the show. Bill is a thought provoker for sure, and I think he knows MBurnett Procuctions as well as our Sproutster. The darned thing did seem authenic, pretty darned inventive. That was why I put a small disclamer at the top of the post, or hint of the possibility. At the time I put it here I was 90% sure it was Bill having fun. Will I wish it were real, I am missing the show bigtime. Go luck with your empty nest syndrome. I think you will Rock more now than ever before. MomRocks.. Will

	I wonder if Supernova ever would have chosen a FEMALE! Dilana's whole attitude has been amazing..her voice is spectacular..she is a real performer and human being! Lukas seems to snub his audience and remains emotionless. His warmth just never came through..and yet he was the chosen one. Perhaps this is what Supernova liked best about him. Too bad Dilana isn't male.....
