U2, Green Day song to premiere at Superdome opening

As previously reported, U2 and Green Day united to record a cover of the Skids' song "The Saints Are Coming" which would benefit Music Rising. The song will be premiered live at the reopening of the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans on September 25th.  ESPN will broadcast the performance live, while Rhapsody will offer a live audio stream. Afterward, the performance will be available for purchase via Rhapsody, with proceeds to benefit the instrument replacement fund Music Rising, co-founded by U2 guitarist the Edge.
A studio version is in the works and should be finished soon.

BRAVO!! Hats off to both bands and their effort to support those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
I am a longtime pro musician and music industry journalist and my houses in New Orleans were hit by Katrina. Unless you have stood in New Orleans post-Katrina, you truly cannot conceive the destruction. It is MANY times worse than you perceive it to be by simply watching the television and newspaper coverage.
