Lukas adjusting to fame after winning Rock Star: Supernova curlio
 2006-09-18 10:40:13 Rolling Stone
Television Rolling Stone has an interesting article up about Rock Star: Supernova winner, Lukas Rossi. They spent some time with him after winning and talked to him about winning. It seems that Tommy Lee had pegged Lukas as the winner when he first saw him.
And Tommy, for one, called it early on. "As soon as I first saw him, I thought, 'That's our man.' It wasn't necessarily about finding the best singer or the right look, it was about finding the guy -- or girl -- that could front this band . . . and Lukas is that person."
Among the interesting tidbits in the article:
Lukas is crashing with Tommy Lee at Tommy's house. Father and son reunited at last *awww*
Lukas dumped his girlfriend, leaving her stranded outside a club while he was nice and cozy inside (page two, for that one by the way).
All four runner ups will be on the tour performing with House Band (so that means Dilana, Toby Rand, Magni, and Storm Large will be on the tour).

They mention that he worked at Hooters, which I recall from our lovely discussions during the season. But I can't help but chuckle as I picture Lukas, all demented and mutated hobbit-like hobbling up to the sexy Hooter babes, handing them an order as he drools and leers at them. Meanwhile, out at a table, a man yells at a waitress as there is sparkly eyeshadow in his food - little does he know it came from the cook.

Lukas is true class! I'm certain that the "girlfriend" situation was out of his control and he most likely spoke with her and all is ok. She may as well get used to it...now that he's hangin out with these guys..she'll have to have a tough skin. Although they's been together for 7 years...this is a whole new ballgame. So glad he has seen his dad and I hope all is good there. Can't wait to follow "our boy" on his journey. He deserves every bit of stardom he gains from this.

Has anyone here other than sprout ever given Karma serious consideration, well. of coarse you have, and I too. It was retorical. But, Skunkie, may be creating a little Karmic debt with the 7 year girl friend. Thank God, I never did anything that skummy if true? Will

Will - I would wager a guess that Lukas' good karma played a big part in him WINNING RockStar.....

BEEP BEEP BEEP - can you all hear that? That's the sound of the armoured cars backin' up with Mr. Rossi's loot. Speaking as a financial advisor, even if he never does another thing after this, he has it made....

(Oh, and one more thing, if Lukas was really T-Lee's son, he'd be taller with a bigger rack.....)

I have a feeling that Karma is less about the Superficial Material Crap and more about interpersonal aspects of existance, just a guess. Money comes and money goes, and ulitmately has no value in true happiness. Will

Interesting points, Will. Well said.

Life is just full of 'Superficial Material Crap' - as you so eloquently phrased it....

It's what helps us pass the time between birth and death....that, and fun reality shows....

I agree with you on the Karma issue Will. Karma isn't about money or things, it's about personal happiness.

As for Lukas being set for life financially - well one only has to look at the poor souls who have been famous and are now destitute. Managers, PR, and loads of other people will come along and take their share of that money, leaving Lukas with very little to blow on cars and houses before he too is without cash again. Winning a million for someone with a level head and good financial sense might set the person for life, but most people will just blow it and be back on welfare in a couple of years (at the most!)

I'm so happy Lukas won - he was in a league of his own - charisma, stage presence, songwiriting chops. Supernova, or whatever they're called is very lucky to have him.

I've listened to Lukas' original music online and it is much better than anything we've heard from the band. Hopefully they let him contribute much more then just a couple of songs- as we've heard it to be just 2.

Dear guest,

Karma defined on the second watch :

"Karma originates from a false belief in an ego, which prompts a chain reaction of defending that false sense of self and trying to maintain some security. However, there is no security anywhere and people find no resting place".

now perhaps thats a bit vague so simplified just for you:

- Karma literally means: action

- It's known as the the law of cause and effect.

- Karma is both power latent within action and the results our actions bring meaning: that each action, even the smallest, will have consequences. To a Buddhist (we use the Buddhist defenition in this case) therefore, every action, thought or a word is important and has consequences. (breathing and going to the bathroom are equal as important as killing somebody or putting the garbage outside - all influence you're daily environment)

Also there is no such thing as good or bad within the karmic concept since it only describes the chain reaction. Neither is it applied only on individuals for nations have their 'diffrent' karma's too.

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that above was a waste of breath (hey not everything has to make sense right) The way you missuse the word/concept "Karma" is somewhat similiar to relgious people thinking that God (although I don't exactly know what it's like to believe in an God) is a Santa Clause with superpowers or an heavenly pimp providing 7 too 26 virgins evertime you indulge into overexcessive anger.

BEEP BEEP BEEP can you hear that?
Curlio said: I agree with you on the Karma issue Will. Karma isn't about money or things, it's about personal happiness.

I know I'm being terrible annoying today but you once said be as nerdy as you like.

I agree and disagree, within the concept the money does have a 'position' but... only when the money has evoked an action or an reaction.

"I do not deny the excistence of hapiness. I merely point out that even if we are happy there is a fundamental anxiety about that hapiness."

So hapiness is again part of the concept but not what karma is about. The "hunt" for personal hapiness influnences our present and future circumstances and is part of that ongoing chain reaction.

The study of Karma or better the study of the proces of previous and present actions and reactions leads too another statement:

"by seeing clearly how we cause harm to others by our own selfishness, we take personal responsibility for reducing the suffering in our environment."

So in a way it is about personal hapiness.

Normally I hate talking about religion (people start acting weird when you disagree) and I'm the first to say that Budhist do Not behold the "truth".

But sometimes I just want too hold a guest and say: books are not your enemy..

When it comes to Lukas: I don't think everbody gets "paid" for their actions. Some people get away with everything...

I view Karma in more the Western way, rather than the Eastern. You give what you get, you reap what you sow. If you do bad things, you eventually get bad things back. If you do good things, you eventually get good things. It's not about money or material things, but it's more an attitude (hence my personal happiness mention above, as personal happiness is all about attitude.)

For example, there's a long line of people, waiting to turn left. I let a few of them out. I have done a good thing that cost me no time at all, but has made someone's day a little easier. The next time I'm stuck in that "turning left line" instead of sitting there all grouchy and mad, I'm perky because eventually I know someone will let me out. Is it really "Karma" No, it's just the attitude you have.

Ultam you are very bright and I admire your abilities and intelligence. I would hate to have to measure up to you on any measurable scale, But, within the infiniite universe of the Monkeys banging on the typewriter, perhaps you just don't really understand that we who so loosely use the term Karma, an eastern idea that we use generally in our culture to mean "cause and effect", really do understand all that you said above but we have decided to live a far different life completely by choice not ignorance. We KNOW that the Lucas's do get away with things, we don't care, we fully apreciate all the ramifications of a random universe and man's feebel attempt to give order and meaning. That being said, we decide to live in a chosen duality of fantasy and reality that makes our lives better. Is it more or less sane than a spockean rationality. Well, you choose, but we choose a blend or creation of rationality and fantasy that seems to keep our boats affloat. Some of us might look at a terrific intellect like you and see an intellectual slave or slave to rationality. They would pity you that can't see beyond your own personal view.

I don' t mean to be long winded and appreciate your interesting input. If you were a pupil of mine I would ask you to read "the parable of the watermelon" a Sufi tale and ask you how that would apply to you and your interaction on this site.

I agree with Curlio about Karma...but to my thinking it works like this...I let a couple cars merge ahead of me in my lane, and they get to work feeling good not grouchy, and they do someone a favor at work, and that recipient comes in my office eventually, and I make a sale.

But anyway, this whole thing about the Lukas-girlfirend incident...a Toronoto associate of his wrote that he had already moved to Montreal and she didn't come along, so do we really know how much of a girlfriend she actually is? And regardless, there are a thousand different scenarios possible, 90% of which don't reflect badly on Mr. Rossi - so take a chill pill on that topic, everyone!!!

Come on, people - where is the karmic love? And the grammar!

To all the 'intellects' - learn the proper use of 'to' and 'too'. It's so elementary school.

Also, at the very least, could this site please incorporate spell-check? 'Feebel' aka 'Feeble'...

I'm searching Amazon for that 'watermelon' book. Does it have recipes?

1. While I'm sure that you are an English professor with excellent grasp of the English language, alas not everyone on our site can claim the great privilege of having English as their mother tongue.

2. As for the typos, well if you can't stand those may I kindly suggest that you donate your computer to some needy family somewhere. Typos exist, even in the New York Times (and they not only have spell check, but quite a few well-paid editors).

3. Please return once you have lightened up, and have found a better argument. The grammar one doesn't go over very well here.

Ooooohw, I’m not sure how to translate “we” in this context but anyways. When I re-read my post again I think I mistook “be as nerdy as you can” for “preach woman preach”. I didn’t mean to say ooouw you guys are so so so wrong read the following and you’ll be enlightened although… I don’t come of very good.

I was merely trying to make a point (failed). So in this case it was the word “Karma” of which I still believe that it’s an misused word (who cares) and I made the mistake wanting to correct (in an arrogant way) the use.

To me it’s like continuously saying that apples and pears are the same

Define “We”!!! Okay before I start acting like an *I do KNOW you KNOW that Lucas’s do get away with things (…) afloat. Again I was not trying (I did not make my self look good I know I know) to sound like a arrogant crazy teen and perhaps it is more wise for me to stay away from the religion debate. I'm not quite sure about what it is I seemed too have chosen but the sole point I was trying to make wheter I'm right or wrong is that karma is an missused word.

yep me again, I turned off my computer and then I realised I was wrong:

In the East there a lot of diffrent defintions/variations of the karmic concept. The use of the word in the West has developed into another interpretation of the concept or perhaps better excist as a name for a total diffrent concept. So saying it's being missused is wrong because a lot/most people add (do you say add???)the same meaning to the word.

am I putting it right?

Anyways, all this trouble about nothing I sometimes really need to keep my teenmouth shut *sigh*

Well Uttam, after I read all your stuff again having rightly so developed a brain cloud I fell asleep and imagined my self in the forest by the trunk of an old oak tree, and dancing about in a kind of Indian Hip Hop mixed with Apachee war dance was Uttman, Sprout, Nichole and Bill Lanta sling verbal assalts in my direction, it was a dream like no other, so writhing like a snake in my slumber I fell off my bed landed face down in my Collected works of the Sufi Masters that was on my night table, it was open to a page of Narsudan and description of the fool as the best teacher ....... then I said , well I think I have the fool part down!!!!

Just random thought from an irrational mind, nice to meet you Uttam!

The parable of the Watermellon is not a book it's a parable about one page, in length. All Sufi parables are essentially light-hearts tales to teach by. Kinda of like a Spoon full of Sugar makes the medicine go down. I would never suggest anyone read one of those ole cumbersom books. Will

Oh, I thought this year curlio.com would not face this problem – I am so glad I was wrong! Seriously, I find this really funny! When any reality contestant wins on any show, he or she is not automatically promoted to a God-like stance nor do they become invincible.

On this site, Lukas winning this – had no strong reactions. True, there were no die-hard fans, but his win was acceptable to most, because most knew that he would win. So now that he has won – and a reputed source mentions something personal, his fans defend him as if they were with him, by stating that he was not in control of the situation? And it is a made up gossip? Say it with me – Please!

Want to hear a real gossip relating to Lukas? Ok, some weeks back, it was reported that he smooched some guy, who apparently is some reality star! I can’t remember his name, but I am sure I can find out, if one wants to question this!

Now, this site has not mentioned that anywhere! That’s what we do with gossips, which come without any real sources! So think again before commenting!

Nothing that is mentioned on this site is a product of anyone’s fruitful imagination! So people who want to question us – must actually question the source and get snubbed! Unfortunately or fortunately, the moderators here have the least ego and hence one can easily flame and get away with it!

News about Butch Walker’s concert reveals how Lukas already has started acting like a big shot and how he wanted to cut the line, but was sent back!

So if one expects me to believe that Lukas is a saint – I would first say SN chose the wrong guy for Rock! And then I would ask, “Who are you kidding?”

On the matter of Lukas and his girl, abandoning girlfriends is nothing new as far as Rockers are concerned – Look at Tommy Lee! So this is nothing shocking!

Frankly, knowing that Lukas is indeed a saint would be a shock! But till that comes around, I find the responses hilarious!

Now,

Uttam is from the Netherlands and frankly, I have seen her make more sense with her broken English than most with so called perfect English! It does not matter if the grammar or spellings are correct as long as the message is conveyed and I believe it was conveyed, because if one has to comment on this matter barring the matter, it shows who makes what sense!

Will, and now you are hooked! I must confess that after you, ( ) I had such a content male crush on Uttam till I was told that Uttam is a gal! I don’t know what is it about the Netherlands and my assuming the opposite gender, but there you have it!

Uttam on her part – quickly doused all my content romantic notions, by calling me her brother! Come to think of it, so did you! LOL! You know I am kidding!

But fascination discussion – I must say after a very long time, I had a stupid grin on my face – while reading! I am sure that you would be darn surprised to know that she is even younger to me! As she said she’s a teen! Hard to believe, ain’t it?

Uttam honey, so nice to see you back! Still love your passion! Keep it up!

All I have to say after reading all that is written is that religion is what one believes and spirituality is what one feels! I think karma is a part of spirituality, not religion. I mean religion preaching karma does not work. I mean there is a difference between being told to be a good boy and being a good boy – without being told!

However, I think karma is a little difficult concept to understand in present tense, because some things do not make sense – good or bad. Eastern philosophy has an easy answer using reincarnation, but that becomes void in Western philosophy!

So I think it is very tough to judge anyone using karma besides one’s self! I think if we feel and know what the right karma is and follow it – good enough!

As far as people’s karma is concerned – I know this much is true – sooner or later one gets what one deserves! Simple as that! So in that sense – I agree with Curlio’s thinking process! (Big surprise there! )

As far as Lukas is concerned – it is too soon to say what his future holds! Most forget that winning the contest is the easiest step – what happens next determines success – long time or short time!

So that’s that for now!

At least we can fix mistakes in our articles, even a few days later, Would be a bit more difficult on printed paper

The reactions though are mostly just spelling mistakes or typos, most people can't type blind and have to focus on what key they press, add that a part of them don't have english at their first language. Outside of that most people only spend a little time typing a reaction and then they're off, until they come back (or not).

Generally if you look at Rap-Articles you get the 'less-than-intelligent'-reactions with sometimes spelling where you think "WTF?". Those also seem to magically disappear from view when we go through them :)
