Weird Al Yankovic is working on a tour for 2007, with the possibility of some international dates thrown in as well. His latest album, "Straight Outta Lynwood" was released recently. Fans will have to wait until late spring / early summer for the tour however.
"We're definitely going to be touring next summer," Yankovic said during a teleconference this week. "We may be out on the road a little earlier than that, that's still kind of up in the air. We're talking about touring internationally, that may or may not happen, but I would love to go back to Australia and tour. I would love to tour the U.K., which is something we've never done. But everything--it's just the very beginning of the discussions right now."
If you haven't heard the album yet, it features parodies of songs by Chamillionaire, R. Kelly, Usher, Green Day, and Taylor Hicks (the Taylor Hicks parody title gave me a huge chuckle - "Do I Creep You Out"). In the original article Al talks about the inspiration for some of the parodies, including why he felt it necessary to to expand on Usher's Confessions.
He also talks about his trademark polka medley, saying fans would be rioting in the streets if there wasn't a polka on the album (darn right we would).
That is cool that Taylor Hicks allowed Weird Al to make such a song. Shows that he has a sense of humor and is as genuine as he appeared on AI!
Other than that, I have listened to a few tracks from this album and it has good stuff on it! Weird Al is as vintage as the Simpsons, still cranking out the goods!
Waiting for the real show to start...
