Flavor of Love 2, Ep. 9: Curling Iron of Death Nicole
 2006-10-02 17:26:30
Television A new day dawns at the Flavor of Love mansion where we are down to three girls: Delishus, New York, and Krazy. New York is in her curlers and all the other girls are in their PJ’s when they get a Flavogram saying that today will be family reunion day. Krazy and Delishus start jumping around (and almost hug in excitement!) but New York is withdrawn (WTF?!?!?!? Who knew New York could be withdrawn?). She tells us in a confessional that Flav and her mom don’t get along and she’s nervous about what her mom will think about her being on the show again.

Everyone runs upstairs to get ready for the parents. New York continues applying make-up while Delishus is cleaning the room the two of them share. Delishus clearly intends to have her parents stay in this room. New York observes Delishus cleaning and makes some really bad comments, like: Delishus is a slave, I am her master, it’s nice to know Delishus is good for something, etc. New York comes out to thank (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) Delishus for cleaning the room she’ll be staying with her parents in. Delishus gets really, really mad and the two start yelling at each other. New York goes back into the bathroom and Delishus picks up New York’s curling iron and threatens her with it. Who knew a curling iron could be considered a lethal weapon?

The parents start to arrive, and Delishus’ Mom and Dad arrive first. They look like very nice, ordinary people. Oh, except that Mrs. Delishus has a tower of shiny, unmoving hair on the top of her head. It’s some sort of bouffant that jets about a foot and a half up from her head. (At the end of the episode, New York comments on Mrs. Delishus’ hair, saying: “Kudos to you, Mrs. Delishus. I didn’t know people could grow plastic hair.”) Flav seems to immediately like Mr. and Mrs. Delishus, who in turn seem to like him too. In fact, Mr. Delishus was about ten seconds away from asking for an autograph—that’s how starstruck he was.

Krazy’s Mom and Grandmom are next. I immediately get the ‘fish out of water’ vibe from them, as both are blonde and, well, extremely white. However, they soon reveal themselves to be good time girls and immediately head for the bar after some sweet introductions with Flav.

Finally, it’s the moment we have all been waiting for: the reappearance of Mrs. New York. In a black leather cowboy hat, tons of make-up and loads of jewelry, Mrs. New York comes storming into the mansion (Mr. New York, the silent yet intriguing husband of this nutcase is following, silently, two steps behind). Mrs. New York’s greeting to her daughter goes something like this: “You look great. What the heck are you doing here?” Flav steps in and tries to soothe the visibly angry Mrs. New York, but she is having no part of it. She starts the yelling/shoving method of communication which seems to be an inherited trait, and Flav has to call Big Rick off of her. Eventually, Flav gets tired of being attacked, so he throws her out of the house. New York follows her mom out (curiously, Mr. New York is no where to be seen. I suspect he would rather drink with Flav than listen to his wife and daughter bitch). New York calms her down and they return to the house where New York tries to convince her mother that she is truly in love with Flav and he is a good person. While Mrs,. New York is not buying this at all, she agrees to stay, if only to convince New York to come back home with her.

Flav has planned a little surprise meal for all the families. He brings six of his kids and two of his grandkids out into the backyard where the families are having lunch. He tells us that his kids have been instructed to feel the girls out and help him decide who is best for their dad. The kids, who are pretty much cute across the board but have some weird names like ‘Disina’ (Designer), immediately start grilling the contestants. Delishus tells two of the daughters that she’s not an actress or model, she’s just trying to be herself. Krazy is out-thought by two teenagers. And New York informs a group of kids ranging in age from about ten to twenty that she is, indeed, the HBIC, queen in charge, and she loves their dad. Mrs. New York pulls her daughter away, into the house, where she says she has a terminal illness. Apparently, New York can recognize made up drama bullmanure when she sees it, because she calls her mom out for making up a lie to take her home. Mrs. New York says, yes, it was a lie. They return to the party. Flav takes his kids inside and asks for their opinion. They think Krazy is fake, Delishus is genuine and New York is bossy, cocky and crazy. Then they head off for their respective mothers.

Each family will now get a date with Flav (which is a little perverted if you ask me, but . . .). The Delishus’ are up first. Flav, in formal gear, takes them to a magic show where . . . surprise, surprise . . . Flav is called on stage to do some tricks and he chooses Delishus as his assistant. Awwww . . . it’s almost cute. There is absolutely no conflict during this date and everyone has a smashing time.

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, the Krazy’s have decided to celebrate with some dancing and booze. For some strange reason (okay, maybe not that strange), Mr. New York is up partying with them. Of course, Mrs. New York even hears someone having a good time, so she must immediately appear to suck the fun out of the situation. She storms downstairs and starts screaming at Krazy that the party is too loud. Krazy screams right back, and Mr. New York steps in to try and calm his wife down. Turns out, this is impossible, and she eventually leaves the room still screaming with her husband following her. Drama, drama, drama.

The next morning, Krazy, her mom and her grandmom are taken for makeovers. Flav has the limo waiting for them. In the limo, Grandma Krazy starts grilling Flav about his criminal background, which is quite extensive. Flav makes it into a big joke which seems to soothe the Krazy’s, and then utters the most profound sentence ever heard on this show: “Yeah, I was in Rikers, but now I’m on your TV.” I still can’t explain why this man is famous. Flav takes the Krazy’s to an ethnic beauty salon where all three girls receive cornrows. I must agree with Flav, who was dutifully impressed when even Grandma Krazy was down for it. While at the beauty salon, Krazy starts making out with Flav and makes everyone kind of uncomfortable. But all in all, a nice date.

Last up is the Family New York. Flav has, wisely, decided that the freakshow that is Mrs. New York probably won’t be too stable outside of the mansion, so he’s brought in food. He asks Mrs. New York to come down for dinner in fifteen minutes, but of course she leaves the waiting for two hours. When she finally appears, she deems the food gross and only takes a piece of fried chicken. She then starts to grill Flav, particularly about who is William Drayton the man. Flav shows her that he can be serious and answers her questions. Meanwhile, New York is chain-smoking at the table (gross!) and Mr. New York is happily, quietly enjoying is food. Mrs. New York leaves the table only convinced that she has to take her daughter home with her tonight.

Time for eliminations. The girls are waiting along with their families. First to get her clock is Delishus, for whom Flav also has very kind words to say about her parents. Then New York gets her clock and she’s overjoyed. Mrs. New York starts doing the “Hell no” eyeroll but Mr. New York looks very happy. Krazy is told her time is up because Flav doesn’t believe that she’s really here for him. Outside, Krazy (real name Heather) looks genuinely upset. But back inside the mansion, Flav and Mrs. New York have one more argument which Flav ends by promising to take good care of New York. Her mom finally relents and goes to give Flav a hug. But, alas, her weave gets stuck on the oversized cardboard crown he is wearing and she pulls away from him, crying, “Kill me now, kill me now.” The parents leave and New York and Delishus are celebrating, when we switch to a shot outside of the mansion were apparently, Mrs. New York has changed her mind.

Tune in two week to see if Mrs. New York really does drag her daughter out of the house by the weave or if both girls accompany Flav on a vacation to Belize.

i think that delishis should have burned New York because she casued alot of confusion with the rest of the girls that left. She was the reason why Buckeey got sent home because she used Krazy and really Krazy should have watched what she said. But just like New York mom said she would get egg throwned in her face a second time if flav didn't pick her. Well i'm glad she got her issue. She thought just by her sleeping with flav she would when his heart, but delishis played it smooth and she must have had what flav like becasue she is flav girl now and i think that they make an great couple. New York was very ugly and so was her ways.
