Former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry took advantage of Billboard's third poor sales week in a row to land his band's album at number one. The self-titled album by Daughtry debuted at number two in November and hasn't been lower than 11 since.
"American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry's debut RCA album, released under his last name, ascends to No. 1 in its ninth week on The Billboard 200 by selling 65,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. His margin over the No. 2 album, Music World's "Dreamgirls" soundtrack, is the slimmest ever between the top two titles on this chart, at about 130 copies.
Disney's "Jump In" soundtrack pushed up to number three, while Corinne Bailey Rae's jumped up to number four. Diana Ross has the highest debut with her new album "I Love You" coming in at number 32.
I heard that Taylor Hicks didn't even sniff the Top 50 of the Billboard album charts last week. I guess the fans have truly voted for their American Idol. Taylor can join Ruben and Fantasia on their "Road to the C-List Tour 2007", playing at any Tri-County Fair that will have them.
