Alas, the show is over …

I would have been in more cheerful mood, when our soft-spoken anchor Shilpa Agnihotri announced that Rehan Khan won the show, if it wasn’t for the death of one (if not the) the greatest Americans ever.

Last Friday a genius who changed the lives of millions around the globe, passed away. A man who made us fight like Sméagol did over that silly ring, a man who stole the bread of many babysitters, a man who made it possible for us to grow together with our couches while developing immunity for our mothers screams. A man… who created the ultimate symbol of power.

Yes, Robert Aldler, the inventor of the remote control!

Last week I’ve been pondering about what to write and still I’m not able to phrase my thoughts on the subject. Not that it was hard to tell what happened but I was a bit sick of being my whiny old self. After all we all knew that the show was going to be amateurish, cheesy, boring and not really noteworthy. Also the ooooohw-this-show-is-the-embodiment-of-everything-I-hate-about-India was getting a bit old don’t you think?

One thing about this show did please me though and that were the low TRP-rates. It was like a big F-you towards the producers showing that it takes more then a emotionally instable (some would say mentally disabled) ‘rocker’ and his tantrums to make a show. Don’t get me wrong I love to see blood and tears on the idiot box ( Finally they decided to broadcast Project Runway here and I’m about to build a shrine for Wendy Pepper, boy that’s one angry woman) but to think that an obscene high amount of drama is enough to draw in viewers is simply naive.

I mean, we all bloody well know that there’s nothing real about reality-TV so if you are going to fool us at least fool us right.

We don’t mind.

He left in dignity and I definitely seemed like a lot of politics were played behind the scenes. Votes tallied up fairly? Probably not. But who knows. I wouldn’t even care actually if it weren’t for the fact that these people pinned their hopes on a flop show.

There is one reason to believe that the votes on this side of the globe are tallied up fairly and that reason is the IRS. Now unfortunately when it comes to India the IRS is the biggest reason to believe that the votes are not tallied up fairly.

The twists, the switching elimination dates, the shooting days all make it very assumable that the entire hoo-ha at the end of Friday was far from credible.

I second you. Perhaps it’s stupid to vote but saying that they asked to be conned would be just as stupid.

Partner in crime? Oh my, and that coming from a lawyer in spe! Thanks for keeping the bandwagon going. Thank you for your time and thank you for your dedication. I almost feel like a 'survivor' after FameX but despite everything I'm glad we kept going till the bitter end and I certainly could not have done it without you.

I really enjoyed your recaps and I am looking forward to read much more from you when II3 starts!

It's a pity that II3 hasn't started as yet...Wen I came back to India last year, I thought I'll get to vote this time around and prevent jerks like Sandeep from winning (Nitish Kumar - Don't even think abt it...) but alas!!

You know you mentioned Nitish Kumar and I'm not sure if I should share this but a few weeks ago I bumped into his blog and found out that he's a kid my age.

Well dear brother of mine get ready for some sibling anger! I always assumed that you thought the higest of me but when I found out what Smart Alec meant that bubble got splashed too.

Sigh, according to Wikkipedia a smart Alec is: " A person regarded as obnoxiously self-assertive. An impudent person." I didn't knew what those words meant so I tried to be a good citizen and looked them up.

The kind answers of my dictionary: Obsolete, shameless or brazenly immodest, exposed or liable to harm, evil, or anything objectionable, lacking any sense of shame, immodest, audacious and last but not least insensible to disgrace.

If that wasn't all I also found the origin of the word: "the phrase smart alec(k) arose from the exploits of Alec Hoag. A celebrated pimp, thief, and confidence man."LOL! Well thank you dearest! I've been called many things before but a celebrated pimp really beats them all.

Do you still have te strenght after FameX to take care of us when II3 starts? I sure do hope so, if only for your compliments!

I have had that mindset for a while, now I know better. The way these two, specially aditya is performing, and the way palash is turning this into hindi vs. rock debate, I think our creed is being further misrepresented. I fear that with these kind of public perceptions, rock would never turn mainstream in India.

I desparately want Aditya to succeed singing his own rock versions of hindi songs. Thats what he is and any attempt to change it would be so unlike him. He may well be the most talented, but a performer doesnt talk, he performs and thats his truth. Right now he needs solid performances which are his originals. I hope he makes a comeback. I reserve my praise till then.

I am seeing a trend over here.... I don't know how long we need to bear with this Aditya guy.... Please don't tell me that he composes and he is a great singer.... He sucks singing Hindi songs PERIOD. He is not singing, he is screaming a lot.....

I am really glad to see Viddhan go.... Sorry for saying this but I am sick and tired of these people trying to exploit people with some disability to get some stupid votes...

Rehan - My favorite contestant!! Voice quality is very good. he should pick the right songs. Sprout, I think he must have picked the "Don" song cos thats more of an 'it' song nowadays. I guess he wanted to connect with the people. But I completely agree with you when u said he needs songs with more vocals that attitude. He knows he sings well, that shows in his confidence. Only thing he shouldn't get over confident and under estimate the rest, cos they do have the potential in them.

And he won! Keep your keyboard ready for Indian Idol III.

	Uttam, Once again hats off... Nice summary Thanks for hanging in there till the BITTER end.... I hated the show from the beginning. It is very amateurish. Even though I hated the show, I just love to read the posts by you, Deepa and Sprout and all our dear friends over here...... Yes count me for the II3. Can't wait for it to start.
