First 4 contestants ousted from American Idol

At least it was not a bad start for the season vote wise. Almost 32 million votes were cast.

After the small talk where the judges told Ryan Seacrest that it was the girls game to lose, Ryan announced the names of the stars that got booked to appear on the show this season. They were; Diana Ross, Jon Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett, Martina McBride, Lulu and Peter from Herman's Hermits and Barry Gibb.

It was finally time for a recap where they pointed out that the girls performed much better than the boys.

After the recap and before any announcements of who would be going home they were doing a group performance. During the group performance it looked like they cut a part of the performance because it skipped and it felt like the part where several contestants had their own line to sing got completely cut out. it was a decent performance of Tears for Fears' song "Sowing the seeds of love".

Ryan had a small talk with the guy group, nick said he wasn't nervous but petrified. Ryan also talked to Chris Sligh, where Sligh said he was a bit nervous because of the banter with Simon, as he doesn't know how America took his banter with Simon and he is afraid it got taken as disrespect. Sligh addressed the viewers and said;"America, I love Simon!". While Ryan started talking, I heard Simon's voice on the background telling either Paula or Randy "I like this guy!".

The first line of guys got to hear their fate, and they went down the line, Brendon Rogers, Jason Sundance Head, Chris Richardson, Nick Pedro, Blake Lewis heard they were safe, the last person standing, Paul Kim got to hear it was the end of the road for him. Randy told him to keep on rocking and to find songs that excel him, and that it all comes down to the song.

Paula told Paul that he has enough to make it and that he got a nice voice a great range and tone and that he'll be great in the studio. But that in the competition he just tried too hard and that he picked the wrong song. This all got followed by the "goodbye" performance of Paul, which was a bad crappy performance, which made his performance on Tuesday look good.

After the commercial break, Ryan talked to the girls and Lakisha said she was still nervous.

The first line of girls heard their fate, Jordin Sparks, Stephanie Edwards, Sabrina Sloan, Leslie Hunt and Melinda Doolittle hear they are safe. The only person left standing was Antonella Barba,

and she expected to be sent home, however a surprise is thrown as Ryan tells her than she is safe too. After that Amy is asked to come to the middle and she's immediately told that she's going home.

Simon told her that she didn't stand out amongst 12 people and that, that was her problem. The performance from her that followed the announcement that she was going home also showed why she was going home as it was full of pitch problems.

Now it was time for the guest performance, after a small talk with Ryan where Fantasia announced that she was going to star in the Broadway show "The Color Purple" produced by Quincy Jones, who was also in the audience. Ryan asks Quincy if Fantasia will bring it, Quincy says certainly and wants to start talking about the Broadway show, but gets quickly interupted by Ryan saying that Fantasia will start on Broadway on April 10th. Fantasia then performs the song "I'm Here" from the Broadway production. It was a good performkance, however if she would have done that performance while she was a contestant on the show, they would have told her that she screamed too much. Now of course she got a standing ovation from the judges.

The rest of the girls were up to hear their future, this meant that Haley Scarnato, Lakisha Jones, Gina Glocksen and Alaina Alexander were going through to next week and that Nicole Tranquillo hit the end of the road. With her goodbye-performance it was clear why she didn't get enough votes, she was off key and pitchy all over in the performance.

The last of the guys heard their fate next, Chris Sligh, Phil Stacy, Jared Cotter, A.J. Tabaldo heard they were safe, the last two guys standing were Sanjaya Malakar and Rudy Cardenas, Ryan said that one of them would be going home, and that the other one was one of the guys in the top 4. To no surprise to me, Sanjaya was the one staying for at least another week and Rudy was sent home.

Ryan asked the judges what Rudy could do in the rest of his career. Simon replies that he can't turn an OK singer into a great singer. Ryan said that he clearly asked the wrong judge and asks Randy for his opinion. Randy said to find out what Rudy does the best. Paula said that Rudy's pitch is perfect and that he has a great voice and that she loves his falsetto. Unlike the goodbye performance of the other 3 contestants, Rudy's performance is an improvement compared to Tuesday.

	I have to say I think Nicole got robbed... This is supposed to be a singing competion for christ sake... The fact Antonella got thru only reaffirms to me that this a popularity contest first and a singing contest second...ya she's pretty, but she seems more comfortable in front of a camera - not on the stage - if you get my drift. But Nicole can sing! Who cares about the vibe... So a white girl can't sing Erika Badu? That vocal Nicole laid down was shades of Teena Marie! The fact that the judges missed that comparision is unbelievable to me. She liked the song and I thought she belted it! Anybody in the music business should be able to see that the girl can sing - and good for Paula not be baited into saying it was "the wrong vibe" and it was "fake" Some profound anaylsis from those other two supposed music talent "experts"... And shame on the voters for listening to that crap...the sad fact is: What Simon says, America does... PS (I want dollar everytime somebody uses that line from this moment on!)

	I'm definitely okay with the girls that went home. Sure Nicole has range, but she wasn't on tune much and you literally could not understand her. However, I do hate that Antonella and Alaina got by on their looks. Don't like them. Was a little surprised to see Rudy leaving...I actually liked him. Too bad he had the curse of going first and being off tune. Dang! I thought he'd outlast Jared... Is it just me or does Chris R irritate? He's a poor man's JT. Tries way to hard to be someone he's not! Love Melinda though - she's amazing!

So our tragedy is your good luck. Satan.

	Did anyone see "Little Voice", well, Melinda reminds me a bit of the girl, not in the "challenged way" but about how the song burst from someone who is or has been socially awkward. She is quite brilliant. She probably will be more song style change adaptable that some of the others, just a feeling. Gosh, I missed our Froggie. 	In addition to the performers named above, the AP listed others performing on this year's show: "Former "Idol" winner Carrie Underwood and former finalist Kellie Pickler also will perform on the show" Sheeee'ss BAAAACCKKKK!!! Carrie Underwood - no problem and highly expected. But the "Pickle"?!? Oh the pain! the pain!! Where is Tyler? This is the first year that last year's winner is nowhere to be found in the first few weeks...

	i still think that Paul Kim should atleast stayed another round. he has an excellent voice and almost all of the guys sucked like heck that night. i really hope that be continues to rock the house with his soulfull voice. Love you Paul kim

	i truly find the fact that the 'dude' in question is a short fat dough boy much more offensive. in fact my reaction is more about her poor choice in men really.....blech! when the networks fire up a show called paris' hoo hoo idol i think this young lady should be first in line. show theme: not about singing into the mic rather a demonstration of mic 'skills' full stop. in the meantime for goodness sake how in the heck would you like to be her parents? how does it work anyway? do they throw her off before the show this week and make a comment on the show? or will they make her come to the show? so darn sad. oh, and why don't men contestants take nudie shots darn it? who the heck doesn't want to get a good look at chis sligh manscaped?? -- the toad(ette) note to self. must ask curlio to put color behind the advertise on curlio.com moving ad. small drug flash backs when i leave the screen up for too long. one continuous black/white/grey brain storm. help....

	Regarding the two or three explicit pictures, I see the resemblence with Antonella, however unless she has dentures I wouldn't know how she could retract the teeth next to her two front teeth that they are suddenly not noticable. (and you can't see them at all on the explicit pictures. Hence i'm willing to say that on those very explicit pictures it's NOT Antonella. Another way to tell if a person is the same person, is using a relational distance between the eyes, nose and upper-lip. One of the pictures is unusuable for that method, but using it on the other two, it's quite clear to me the distance on the other two is not the same as with the pictures from the real Antonella. And regarding the other pictures, we've all been young and stupid at some point, maybe not so dumb to have evidence of it, or at least have real friends so that that material stays where it should be. oh, and why don't men contestants take nudie shots darn it? It IS the men taking the nudie shots.. They're just smart enough to have a different subject than themselves. (Male superiority unite!^).. ^{ hides from all the females for awhile}

	Okay I had to look as well. And I agree with Dusty. I went on eye color. Although other pictures are farther away than the "provocative" pictures, Antonella's eyes are very dark in them. Almost a black/brown eye color. In the "provocative" pictures, the eyes are more a milk chocolate color. At any rate, I think she should be asked to leave. Especially since she can't sing.....

If you can't be a good example, then be a horrible warning!
