First 4 contestants ousted from American Idol dusty
 2007-02-22 23:04:08
Television At least it was not a bad start for the season vote wise. Almost 32 million votes were cast.

After the small talk where the judges told Ryan Seacrest that it was the girls game to lose, Ryan announced the names of the stars that got booked to appear on the show this season. They were; Diana Ross, Jon Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett, Martina McBride, Lulu and Peter from Herman's Hermits and Barry Gibb.

It was finally time for a recap where they pointed out that the girls performed much better than the boys.

After the recap and before any announcements of who would be going home they were doing a group performance. During the group performance it looked like they cut a part of the performance because it skipped and it felt like the part where several contestants had their own line to sing got completely cut out. it was a decent performance of Tears for Fears' song "Sowing the seeds of love".

Ryan had a small talk with the guy group, nick said he wasn't nervous but petrified. Ryan also talked to Chris Sligh, where Sligh said he was a bit nervous because of the banter with Simon, as he doesn't know how America took his banter with Simon and he is afraid it got taken as disrespect. Sligh addressed the viewers and said;"America, I love Simon!". While Ryan started talking, I heard Simon's voice on the background telling either Paula or Randy "I like this guy!".

The first line of guys got to hear their fate, and they went down the line, Brendon Rogers, Jason Sundance Head, Chris Richardson, Nick Pedro, Blake Lewis heard they were safe, the last person standing, Paul Kim got to hear it was the end of the road for him. Randy told him to keep on rocking and to find songs that excel him, and that it all comes down to the song. Paula told Paul that he has enough to make it and that he got a nice voice a great range and tone and that he'll be great in the studio. But that in the competition he just tried too hard and that he picked the wrong song. This all got followed by the "goodbye" performance of Paul, which was a bad crappy performance, which made his performance on Tuesday look good.

After the commercial break, Ryan talked to the girls and Lakisha said she was still nervous.

The first line of girls heard their fate, Jordin Sparks, Stephanie Edwards, Sabrina Sloan, Leslie Hunt and Melinda Doolittle hear they are safe. The only person left standing was Antonella Barba, and she expected to be sent home, however a surprise is thrown as Ryan tells her than she is safe too. After that Amy is asked to come to the middle and she's immediately told that she's going home.

Simon told her that she didn't stand out amongst 12 people and that, that was her problem. The performance from her that followed the announcement that she was going home also showed why she was going home as it was full of pitch problems.

Now it was time for the guest performance, after a small talk with Ryan where Fantasia announced that she was going to star in the Broadway show "The Color Purple" produced by Quincy Jones, who was also in the audience. Ryan asks Quincy if Fantasia will bring it, Quincy says certainly and wants to start talking about the Broadway show, but gets quickly interupted by Ryan saying that Fantasia will start on Broadway on April 10th. Fantasia then performs the song "I'm Here" from the Broadway production. It was a good performkance, however if she would have done that performance while she was a contestant on the show, they would have told her that she screamed too much. Now of course she got a standing ovation from the judges.

The rest of the girls were up to hear their future, this meant that Haley Scarnato, Lakisha Jones, Gina Glocksen and Alaina Alexander were going through to next week and that Nicole Tranquillo hit the end of the road. With her goodbye-performance it was clear why she didn't get enough votes, she was off key and pitchy all over in the performance.

The last of the guys heard their fate next, Chris Sligh, Phil Stacy, Jared Cotter, A.J. Tabaldo heard they were safe, the last two guys standing were Sanjaya Malakar and Rudy Cardenas, Ryan said that one of them would be going home, and that the other one was one of the guys in the top 4. To no surprise to me, Sanjaya was the one staying for at least another week and Rudy was sent home.

Ryan asked the judges what Rudy could do in the rest of his career. Simon replies that he can't turn an OK singer into a great singer. Ryan said that he clearly asked the wrong judge and asks Randy for his opinion. Randy said to find out what Rudy does the best. Paula said that Rudy's pitch is perfect and that he has a great voice and that she loves his falsetto. Unlike the goodbye performance of the other 3 contestants, Rudy's performance is an improvement compared to Tuesday.

All of this is a moot point.
The producers would just as soon stay out of it, I'm sure.
If it were one of the top singers, it might be a problem.
But, Anoinella was hanging on by a thread and barely avoided elimination Thursday night.
She's a notch below almost all the remaining 9 girls and undoubtedly will be gone by Thursday anyway.
She seems emotional and may let all this bad publicity hurt her performance.
That, combined with lost votes because of the shots and she's gone.
Just as well. The way she and her best friend railroaded Bailey Brown in the Hollywood group sing, she deserves to go.

Good riddance.

And before you complain about me being a guest, I registered last week and got no confirmation.
So there!

Don't mind me, I'm just a guest.

Well, I must admit I am a bit obsessed with Antonella, mainly because I am seriously pissed off at her *ly ex-boyfriend or the friend who leaked the photographs on net. True, Antonella should have exercised caution, but I agree with Dusty, we all have done stupid things in our lives; they might not be as stupid as posing provocatively at the WWII Memorial, but stupid none the less!

I have to commend Dusty’s patience and keen sense of observation in trying to falsify Antonella’s identity, when it came to the graphic pictures. He is right, that’s not her. Many others also made it a point to analyse the shots, I couldn’t analyse, but my gut told me it can’t be her!

Surprising though, Amanda is the first person to stand up for her BFF, stating and I quote, “The really bad ones aren’t her. I’ve studied them, it’s not her nose. She’s never had [acrylic nail] tips [like the woman in the photo] in her life. She’s the least loose womanty person I know.” Unquote!

Anyway, the problem Antonella faces now is not about the graphic photographs, but for posing at the WWII site! I have read many say, “My grandpa was in WWII! How dare she?”

Oh yeah, it is not enough to see C-Grade male celebrities in their glories, now we surely are starved to see Reality Contestants! You know I hated the fact I knew about Paul’s underwear, and I really like Sligh, and though you might want to see Sligh in his glory, I am not! I already am blind thanks to Antonella! So :P!

Well, Dusty, part of me wants to go a look again more closely to see if I agree with you about what we are looking at and part says "danger will robinson, danger will robinson", I don't want that image permanently in my brain.
Call me a bitch if you must Will, but I have to ask this!

Why Will? Afraid, you might get too excited? Or afraid, you might get lost in space? LOL! Go ahead, look at it, I assure you, you will forget it in a week! To quote from Steel Magnolias, “I love ya more than my luggage.”

And I also know that I am evil and I must be destroyed! LOL!

Shenova – Unfortunately, this 3B might linger a lot longer, if she is not asked to leave. And I don’t think she will be asked to leave, because I think Nigel would have not defended her like he did, if he did not intend to keep her around! So live with the 3B – you deserve it! LOL!

I must be brave, I must not flee!

Oh who am I kidding?! Toodles!

Like their grandfather wouldn't look at a body like hers?

I could imagine worse things to do at the memorial. Posing in a wet t-shirt trying to be sexy isn't one of those.

For example: Pissing in the fountain would be already much much higher on the disgraceful things to do. (and yes, some people DO that.) Another thing that I heard is a problem is Grafitti and Vandalism. In that perspective the posing isn't that disrepectful.

(outside the fact that you can't know for sure that it IS the WWII site) Yes, it kinda looks like it, but to proof it IS the WWII site you should proof that there is no other fountain with the bottom like you can see on the pictures and a watersprout. If i'm correct there's one in the netherlands too that looks similar.

Just because it sounds like a duck doesn't mean it isn't a goose.

For my peeps, from Foxes on Idol " from “American Idol CSI,” comparing the right ears of the woman in the photos with a picture of Antonella. While they claim it is obviously a different woman, I just don’t see it as being obvious at all. In my opinion, the angles are not similar enough to make a valid judgment, and there is hair covering part of the ear in one picture.

Later, VoteForTheWorst posted what they call “better proof” that the pornographic pictures are not of Antonella. They link to an X-rated site (really not safe for work) with a variety of photos that seems to include the same woman as we’ve already seen in supposed Antonella photos, and they say, “it's obviously not Antonella in these pictures.” I don’t think it’s quite so obvious, but others I have spoken to do. People often look different in photographs in different situations. Really, nothing about this whole situation seems obvious.

Meanwhile, Antonella’s friend, Amanda Coluccio, who auditioned with Antonella, has publicly stated that the pornographic pictures are not Antonella. She told the Star Ledger of Newark that while the earlier photos (one of her topless, one on the toilet, etc.) are indeed her, “The really bad ones aren’t her. I’ve studied them. It’s not her nose. She’s never had [acrylic nail] tips [such as those in the photo] in her life. She’s the least loose womanty person I know.”

Unfortunately, this really doesn’t shine any light on the situation. Amanda saying it’s not her nose is different from somebody actually showing it. And I have to say that just because there are pictures of a woman in that position does not automatically make her loose womanty. It could simply have been Antonella and her then-boyfriend, having some fun. You don’t need to be a loose woman to engage in sexual activity (as Bruce Barker discusses further in his Idol Analyst column). So Amanda’s thoughts also don’t shed any light as far as that goes.

The most interesting thing to me is that, so far, Fox, American Idol, Antonella, and Antonella’s parents have had nothing to say on the matter. While I understand that Antonella herself is limited by contract in her press dealings, that still leaves other people who could step forward and say without a doubt, “That’s not Antonella, and we can prove it.” So if the photos are not her, why not just come out and say it? If they truly are photos from a porn site that has nothing to do with Antonella, why not come out and answer the questions? I know if somebody were posting pictures like that of me or my family and I knew they were fakes, I would be talking to the press immediately, declaring them hoaxes, and calling for the heads of whoever posted such things.

This is where the two questions I asked earlier link. While at this point we can’t say for certain whether or not the photos are of Antonella, I do think there is enough evidence – and discussion among the web, news outlets, etc. – to at least warrant a comment from the show. And if the pictures do indeed feature the American Idol semi-finalist, then what are they going to do about it?

For the moment, let’s also consider that even if the worst pictures of Antonella are not her, there are still other photos that definitely are her. Antonella topless, Antonella drinking underage, Antonella posing sexily with another girl, Antonella sitting in her underwear on a basketball – the list goes on. We must recall that Frenchie was booted for photos of her topless and in sexual poses.

The difference I see here, as mentioned in my previous article and in Bruce’s “Idol Analyst,” is that Frenchie knew those photos would be published, while Antonella was just out having fun (although, I have to add that some of the photos – like the basketball one – does appear posed, we’re just not sure what the intent was). Is that enough of a difference? That’s up to the powers that be on Idol to decide.

Will the show address this issue at all tonight? It’s the men singing, after all, so will they even mention Antonella? If not, will they discuss it when Antonella has to sing on Wednesday? The fact is that ignoring this situation will not make it go away. Either Antonella is or is not in the worst pictures. Either the producers do or don’t care about the other photos. Either she will or won’t be dropped from the show. Viewers will expect answers, and I think we all deserve them."

I agree with this. The photo on the VT** site, aren't that profound. But, I personally hope it is not causing this girl false harm. will
