In 2005, JD Fortune won the reality show Rockstar:INXS and became the lead singer of INXS. INXS's album did decently ok in the charts. Some old INXS fans were happy with the new album, others were less than thrilled.
Though JD Fortune is not quitting the band, he is spreading his wings and is working on a solo album tentatively named:"Death of a Motivational Speaker"
The concept behind the album came in a dream. In the vision, Fortune recalls being in an elevator watching two men, one on his way to heck and the other the devil, holding a conversation about their turbulent lives. While the premise behind the album sounds dark, Fortune says it's more uplifting than depressing.

INXS is set to start recording their new album at the end of this year and its release date is set somewhere in the middle of next year.
I thought "Pretty Vegas" was the best song from the album, now JD Fortune gets to prove to the skeptics amongst us if he's the limiting member of the band, or if he is, in fact, better solo than with INXS.
See the problem with the US is exactly that ... they are the US! Americans believe they set the standard for everything. Just because someone does not musically have a hit in the US it does not make them a failure! there are many UK, Canadian, European and Aussie artists making a killing out there totally oblivious to the general public in the US. I don't know when they "self labeling" became the measuring stick of success. I personally try to steer clear of "famous" US artists as I prefer to indulge in a more sofisticated style of music - the type like JD and INXS can provide to their fans.
I don't think the US would even know Elvis or the Beatles today considering what gets airplay on your radio stations. I would think twice Mike before insulting other countries and look in your own back yard. The best US artists are going Indie and/or to Itunes for good reason. Elvis was not considered great by everyone right out of the gate. He evolved into an amazing artist that some select few saw in him at the beginning of his career. That's what the people here are seeing in JD Fortune. If it happens for JD that would be great. But his fans are his fans and there's no need to insult them.
