Indian Idol 3 - Sunidhi Chauhan Performs With The Top 13!

Last night, the Indian Idol 3 episode ended with a boring cliff-hanger! Who will the esteemed judges choose out of Padmanav Bordoloi, Ankita Mishra and Suhit Gosain as the Lucky Thirteenth!? I mean, they obviously had never discussed amongst themselves who should re-enter the competition! They had to do it with the camera running, how else would the home viewers know that judges were doing their jobs, right?
So the show started with Mini Mathur and Hussain telling us that the judges were undecided last night! Really? The fact is that the show was recorded few days back, but do go on! So, they had huddled together to make a choice –
Cut to judges discussing the contestants!
I am presenting it as was seen and heard!
Annu Malek: Suhit is a good performer, but Ankita is a better singer! Udit Narayan: If you are talking about good singer, Padmanav is better than Ankita! Javed Akhtar Saab: Yes, it is true that singing is important, but performance too is equally important! Alisha Chinai: If that’s the criteria, we should consider Suhit, what’s wrong with him? (Oy! I don’t even know where to start! One must admirably loathe Alisha for supporting Suhit!)
Javed Akhtar Saab: It’s not that we are looking for either a good singer or a good performer; we are looking for a person, who has both of these qualities!
Secret discussions
Javed Akhtar Saab: So we all agree? Great! I am happy that we all are happy about the choice!
Back in the studio –
This is Indian Idol 3 – The Wild Card Results Episode Part Two!
Mini Mathur and Hussain called Suhit, Ankita and Padmanav on the stage and asked the judges what their decision was!
Javed Saab said that it was a very difficult decision as all the judges spent a considerable time discussing the merits and demerits of each contestant! It was a very tough call!
Mini pleaded to Javed Saab that he should announce the results as soon as possible! Javed Saab retorted by asking whether they thought the hosts expected the name just like that without creating the clichéd suspense! Javed Saab actually the answer is YES!
Thankfully, he must have heard me, because he said that the judges had decided that Ankita Mishra would be the Lucky Thirteenth!
Now, get this – Hearing Ankita’s name, the atmosphere in the Winners’ Circle was rather astounding because one could almost see that some contestants were not really happy about her inclusion, in particular Richa Aneja! The reception of Ankita in Winners’ Circle was lukewarm at best! Annu even commented that the gals in particular were not happy that Ankita was back in the competition!
So we finally said goodbye to Suhit Gosain! The good news is Alisha fought for him till the very end and the other good news is the comment that Annu Malek made about Suhit was thankfully edited from the show! Annu’s comment actually made the news and since many might not know, I am mentioning it!
Annu had said that Suhit was like a cockroach, which creeps back, no matter how many times one flushed it down the toilet! These were Annu’s words, not mine! So don’t bark at this tree, because it is a very wrong tree! Also, never shoot the messenger!
Javed Saab does not seem that harsh now, does he? I am a little shocked that Annu said this because as far as I knew, he was a Suhit supporter like Alisha! Anyway, I am glad that they did not humiliate Suhit on International Television before he exited!
Anyway, Mini and Hussain asked Padmanav and Suhit to say parting words. Padmanav said that he was privileged that the judges brought him back in the competition and he and Suhit had formed a special bond. Suhit always told him that Padmanav shouldn't linger longer than Suhit in the competition and vice versa! So he was happy that they were leaving together! Aw, that’s sweet! Good to know Suhit is a nice bloke!
Suhit didn’t get the chance to say anything so the most talked about contestant of Indian Idol 3 went out of the competition without saying a word! Who says life is not full of ironies?
Anyway, so newsworthy stuff ended in the first five minutes, what happened next has to be seen rather than read, but I will try and capture the fun that was remainder of the show!
The guest star of the show was Sunidhi Chauhan – who by the way was a product of a Competitive Reality Show! So to say all the reality show winners wither away in India is not true! Talented ones do make a mark! To know what performances should be like, one must see Sunidhi perform – she was mind-blowing!
Sunidhi kick started her set by singing, “Crazy Kiya Re” – She did an awesome job! Parleen Singh Gill was either too excited or he knew that the camera would capture him, because he was in full form and trying to dance the steps of the song! It was really cute though! I have heard that Sunidhi gives great stage performances and although I have not seen even one of her shows, I would love to go for one! Really good!
Then… Deepali and Charu Semwal sang, “Beedi” – a song sung originally by Sunidhi and we know that Charu sings the song well, but man, tonight she was awesome. In fact for a minute there I thought Deepali was singing with Sunidhi! However, I must say more than Charu, Deepali was just awesome, the harkats or the embellishments they both employed were so beautiful that frankly it was one of the finest performances of the night! Sunidhi joined the duo with all the other gals and took the song to an entirely different level! Y’all must see it to believe it!
Sunidhi said a few words praising and encouraging the Top 13!
After that the Top 13 took the stage by taking a trip down memory lane!
Smita Adhikari, (who by the way is receiving steroids treatment to reduce her acne) Charu, Puja Chatterjee and Ankita started the medley with, “Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo”!
Meiyang Chang, Emon Chatterjee and Parleen in bell-bottoms (I kid you not) took over with, “Ena Meena Deeka”!
Then three guys and three gals were paired up for, “Aajkaal Tere Mere Pyaar Ke Charche” and they were,
Abhishek Kumar with Jolly Das, (Abhishek was wearing a flaming red bell-bottom),
Prashant Tamang with Deepali,
And Amit Paul with Richa!
After that the boys came together to sing, “Aao Twist Karen” – Yes, you are supposed to do the Twist!
And the medley ended with the Top 13 singing, “Babu, Samjho Ishare, Aur Hum Pukare” from one of my all time favourite Indian comedy, “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi”!
Obviously, Annu could not help but join in the twist after such an amazing medley and asked Alisha to join him for a twist! After it was all over, Udit said that none of the performers on stage were bad and they all did an excellent job!
Then Mini and Hussain informed us that the final competition would kick start from June 28th, 2007, but till then the Top 13 would have fun with Sunidhi!
And hence as a fitting finale to this awesome episode, Sunidhi decided to sing, “Sajnaji Wari Wari” and after a while, the Top 13 joined her! This song is so popular that one cannot escape it at any discos or pubs in India! It is a fun song and I would be lying if I said that me gal and I did not jump up and dance like crazy when they were performing! The great thing was that one could almost feel the enjoyment of all the contestants!
So next week, the grind starts! Thankfully, this year all the contestants are really good, that is, if you don’t count Jolly Das! So the competition is going to be really awesome, but that also means that everyone will be only as good as their last performance! Also, this year I am hoping that there might be no more controversies because finally we know that S(u)hit does not fly always! (I know, that was a cheap shot but look at it this way; no one is going to mention him again! And I am mentioning him because I am jealous! NOT!)
Also, to all those who pitied us, should pity themselves, because unfortunately we are always right! He he! Just kidding!
Nitish....The problem is that u missed the smiley at the end.....That one miss surmises ur problem and i aint gonna talk abt anything else on that sir....either u talk abt II3 or dont......If it aint II3 i am not gonna respond....Hope others also follow my route.......
Guest said:By the way, can you guys take ur personal arguments somewhere else, let this forum be about II3. PLEASE!
Amen! So it shall be!
I am going to play Devil's Advocate, although that's Deepa's job! LOL! The camera focussed on Richa more than once as if only she had a problem with Ankita! The fact is barring Parleen - every one had a rather disappointed look on their face and I think Parleen was aware that the camera was on them, where as others were too shocked or disappointed to care! The Richa Hate Wave has hit as a huge surprise, it is amazing no one had said a thing about it till Suhit was around!
Oh well, please try and remember what it felt like to be sixteen and then imagine about how it is to be from a small town and then imagine about how it must like to be spoilt by your family and friends at that age!
I am sure Richa will head out soon, but till then Relax!
The Core Of Man's Spirit Comes From New Experiences!
RICHA is seriously getting on my nerves. I hope people vote her out by the next round, can't tolerate her nakhras and high-and-mighty attitude any more!
I beg to differ Sprout. Richa was not very popular even before Suhit hit the airwaves with his overzealous voters! She has once shown her "true colors" with Prashant and had earned appropriate hatred and embarassment from II3 fans. So this dislike for her is not stemming out of nowhere.
As far as your argument of being 16 is concerned, I dont' know about others, but being in 12th standard and being a b**** doesn't (and shouldn't) go hand in hand--i.e. there shouldn't be a correlation between those two factors. So what she is a small town girl. Being a small town girl shouldn't automatically turn you into a vain, nasty, self-obsessed meanie, you could be down to earth like the other contestants who are all (barring a few) below 18 and are mostly from remote regions in India.
Granted, the other contestants were not enthusiastic about Ankita's arrival as Anu Malik pointed out that perhaps they were "threatened," but at the least they were diplomatic and clapped politely. Richa's expression was of pure disappointment and annoyance! I am sorry, but this show is not about groupism and favoritism or "who is my best friend" (perhaps BIG BROTHER IS more apt for Richa Aneja)....For all the overnight fame and glamour these so called "small town" contestants are getting and all this love being showered by the Indian Audience, humility is the LEAST Richa Aneja can portray! If that is TOO HARD or TOO MUCH for Ms. "I am too good for Prashant and Ankita, so let me sneer at them", THEN FOR GOD'S SAKE PLEASE LEAVE! We will rejoice to see her go!
I think more than Suhit, I am eagerly awaiting Ms. Brattiness personified Aneja's exit!
Also, Sprout, I do remember being 16. In fact, I remember all my friends from when I was 16, and those who were a B**** have remained that way. So, if she is showing such nakhras now, please don't hope for her to change any time soon. In India where kids face the pressure of exams, tests, home life, peer pressure from Class I, at 16 you are practically as mature/immature as they come! Richa Aneja is a manipulative gal, and I am sorry if I am a supporter for the underdog, but I woudl have Ankita Mishra as Indian Idol over such a brat any day! It does me proud to see a strong and down to earth girl like Ankita and it makes me embarassed that girls like Richa earn girls everywhere the gossipy, manipulative (highly undeserved) tag.
Well, from the looks of things, you might not have to wait long for Richa to depart, but then I think Jolly Das might be the first casualty unless of course, she surprises everyone with great singing!
P.S. The Avatar is dedicated to Deepa!

Frankly, Suhit was a victim of the over-hype, not something of his own doing. In this context he has suffered not very justifably. Had Alisha not gone so much overboard praising him and Javed Akhtar denouncing him, he could still have been in the race.
Another thing, Anu's quoted remarks abt Suhit were made when he was selected amongst the 7 wild cards and not at the time of his elimination and that too in a positive context that no one can pin himdown for long and he will always bounce back. I know it for sure from someone who was presnt during all these shoots.
Guest (nitish) said: Attacking??? Where am I doing the same. I just used one sentence mentioning "bunch of self acclaimed writers" and you come to say all this. I never ever have mentioned you all as "Bad Writers" or "Poor Souls".
Technically you said "poor self-acclaimed writers" which is an insult. By adding the "self acclaimed" part you insinuate that you do not viewer any of those posting the articles as writers. The "poor" just adds further insult. If I needed any reason to keep you banned, you just provided it - thank you.
Guest (nitish) said: But Yes.. you always came to insult .. sometime by banning my name and another time.. like some king telling me that I could be included, if I learn to behave. I don't need a certificate from you people.
Actually I made the decion to ban you, not any of them. And I decided you could rejoin the site if you behaved, not any of them. You really need to learn to pay attention to who says what. Dusty and I are the final word on banning people here, no one else. And actually you do need a certificate from us if you want to continue to post here. Posting on anyone's website is a privilege not a right, one that will most certainly be removed from you once again the very moment Dusty returns to this house from work. Enjoy your last few hours of posting here.

OOOHHHHH heck no!
I just want you to know that I LOVE it! I'm at work and I burst out laughing. My hero!! And I guess you can be my brother in law, but I want you to know that I'm cheating on Uttam. You'll have to guess with who....
Hi! Sorry I am not registered yet, am in process: I am actually the one who defended Richa and its my first year watching II.
I like many of the singers on II and I also like Richa (as I said before, I am with Javedji on this that her time will come if she continues to study).
I do not think anyone deserves the foul language you have calling this girl. Yes, they are all young, but Puja is 18 and thats a world of difference between 16 & 18. Plus Puja goes to this excellent boarding school, which makes a lot of difference.
However, I am old enough to see you must be all very young to get so adamant about the personality of a 16-year old that you do not know except through TV excerpts: to the extent of calling her such nasty things.
As for her tiff with Prashant, he did turn up AN HOUR AND A HALF LATE for that rehearsal: I think any partner he would have had at that point would have freaked out.
Overall, I am finding II3 very lively and with a host of good singers (I miss Aisha though). i think Javedji really balances out the judges. And I do hope to be able to express my opinions about the contestants' singing (as thats the only thing up for judgment and the only thing we really see about them), without resorting to insults.
Thanks a million to the ones who cover and write about this show, as reading their report always adds something extra to the episode, even when I have already watched it.
P.S. Over on SRGMP, I came across this episode where Ashaji is commenting on a girl who didn't sing that well and then gives an impromptu singing lesson her....in a couple of minutes she pushes up her singing several notches! Now that IS a treat.
There is a website where you can catch up on TV shows (great for people like me who live abroad in a non-Indian environment).
Good decision by choosing Ankita. I feel sad for Padmanav.....he got into his form when he was in a danger zone.If he had done these performances instead of 'O Mitwa' and 'Mere Rang Mein', he would have definitely been in the top 13.Did Annu really say those words for Suhit? He was such a strong supporter of Suhit.I felt a bit sad for Suhit, though I don't like him as a singer. At least they should have let him say a few words.
After these two episodes, I am begining to worry for Uttam's Chang. His weaknesses are beginning to show in comparison to the others.
Wow, Richa sure has earned herself a spot as Suhit's successor. I am not sure about her manipulative or scheming ways as some have mentioned..for me she was as honest ( though not a good reaction) as can be as opposed to some who may know how to maintain their facial expression when the camera is on them. Richa must have been upset with Ankita for various reasons -- for what Ankita told about her, for ankita being a threat to her etc etc…. and that's exactly what she felt when she heard Ankita was in. Looking at her facial expression she seemed more tensed to have Ankita as that might make her chances of survival even more slimmer. But honestly, don't y'all think some of the other girls also might have felt a threat from Ankita in their hearts but not showed it on their face 'cause the camera was on?
I completely agree that her attitude with Prashant was not right at all, in fact that came as a huge shock to me also. I also agree with Javed saab that she should have come here few years later...that would have given her voice the maturity, also by then she would have learned how to handle pressure. All I am saying is cut her some slack….she is a good singer… I am still waiting for that day when she would blow me away with her performance like she did in her audition. At that time she was in the top 3 on my list….she had dropped majorly from there.
I love when people make sense and you might be one of the most sensible persons I have come across on this site!
Ouch i am hurt sproutie......I am so hurt.....
Richa...Well i dont like her sound and all but the thing is if u dont like some person (for whatever may be the reason) why should u hide it? As far as her character goes i find it sometimes annoying but not to the extent of calling her these names....I would like to see her and jolly go....Not cause of their characters but cause jolly had proved last year that she cant sing that well.....And richas sound is too annoying......Srry Uttam next i would like to see chang go(as of rt now) He seem to be pretty limited.......(Also i dont like competition :-))
Let the gala begin folks, and then I am sure all of you will decide your opinion based on that day's performance. We could be in for a surprise! (by saying this, I am not supporting anybody's bad behavior). Just a little voice of reason!
I am not sure I feel sorry for Richa. What with all this talk about her age and poor girl she didn't know how else to look in front of the camera? I am sorry, but such is the media industry. If you cannot learn to be diplomatic and careful in front of the camera, the audiences will see you coming across in a negative light. As for her being too young, well tough luck! Her parents should have known better than to send their darling daughter (who has yet to mature) to such a show at this age!
If she and her family can't wait for a few years, then they might as well deal with the consequences of being a media personality.
Hey Sprout! Thanks for complimenting me on my sense and sensibility=) I have officially joined the forum. As for my annoyance with Ms. Richa, it is only because I really feel Ankita deserved it (after all the added wild card rounds she went through) and I wish her competitors could have been a little more welcoming!
Nice synopsis of the episode. Even though I knew that the past two episodes were an obvious gimmick to drag the proceedings (and mint the money!!), I enjoyed both of them - the first for fine individual performances and the second for Sunidhi Chauhan.
Thank God that Suhit is out. The moment he was kicked out, I felt that there cannot be too much unfairness left in the show. Of course, I would gripe if Jolly or Richa won the II3. Finally Alisha's obsession is set to rest.
Remember how she asked - "What is wrong with Suhit?" while judges were deciding!! Anyways, even if Suhit is out, I think she will be creative in further irritating us. I think she will stick to her opinion that Smitha does not have stage presence and confidence and Prashant sings flat. She cant get to me, though. I am prepared.
Rima said: Hey, can one of you guys cover Comedy Circus? I have just watched the first two episodes, and I believe the show has potential:)
Thanks for joining Rima and welcome to the site!
I might as well make it clear that all the members on this site are sensible, but a little mad – case and point – Ajay! LOL!
Rima, we are music news site and 'stand up' is not really connected to the genre we deal in! I agree though that the show you mentioned has a potential and you are free to start a topic relating to the show on the Webboard, I am sure someone would join in! But as far as covering the show is concerned, I don’t think it’s possible! However, thanks for suggesting that!
Cheers!
P.S. Deepa, it would seem that you are not the only one cheating - After reading Ajay's words, I am so tempted to sing, "... Sitting In The Tree... " song!

I know right! Poor me! If Uttam had remained loyal, I would not have been inspired to seek the company of someone else. Alas, woe is me!
Welcome to the site Rima!!! It's fun and crazy and all in all a good time.

The "poor" just adds further insult. If I needed any reason to keep you banned, you just provided it - thank you. :-
Great technical explanation, so let me be a little technical (although I am not claiming to be a writer or advocate ;))... *Self acclaimed* because some of you just don't wish to hear, if some other views are being placed even in most gentle manners. I have seen the same not only in my case but with a few others too.
According to me, writer is a person, who should be always attracted towards new ideas, even they might be forcing him/her to change own earlier stand. There is nothing like Complete Yes and Complete No... A view could not stand always of the same stature in two persons views. When one claims to be a writer, then he/she move into a world, where he/she has to care about a larger audience rather than placing his ideas from a closed shell.
According a broader definition, writer is a person, who come to give voice to other's heart in better words. If you deny and come like attacking me always, then tell me a reason.. why should not I use the same "Self Acclaimed Writers"?
-: you do need a certificate from us if you want to continue to post here. Posting on anyone's website is a privilege not a right :-
I have read a few of such sentences from yours site specially in earlier too (in a simple search )
-: You will learn one thing however: this is my website Bobo, and if you get ME to play games with you, you'll find that I always win. It's not a brag, it's simply the truth. I don't jump into battles that I can not win. :-
So, where I am? ;)
