Celebrating Friendship Day The SRGMP Way - With Fardeen Khan

Welcome one and all to the celebration of friendship with SRGMP. Having said that the show, again , started off awfully with the so called performance of Aditya Narayan. This time, with all the contestants, dancing to the tune of the title track of Love ke liye saala kuch bhi . I really wonder if Aditya is training to be an actor or a singer. Having done with that, the guest judge, the stylish Fardeen Khan, was called on stage. He had a few words on his up coming movie Darling and as usual Himmesh had loads of words to be said on that since he sung the title track. And yeah I feel that fardeen has become a bit fat. Well onto the show¡K¡K.
The theme for the day is friendship. Well not as in the contestants will sing songs about friendship but they will sing songs selected by their best friends. Which I think is going an elaborate way of giving the contestants songs to sing. Before each gharana was introduced, there was a clip of best friends of Mentors. I decided to compile it in one place so that the performances can be grouped together.
First Rock Gharanas mentor Himesh Reshammiya. His best friend Prakash Chadda. The only thing I noted was prashant saying that Himmesh fulfills his every wish. The year before last year, he wanted to make a music video, which himmesh obliged. Last year he wanted to make a movie, which himmesh again obliged. Now he wanted to marry. That¡¦s interesting. Himmesh is already married rt?
Second. Bappida from Josh Gharana. His best friend is Mr. Sabir Mukherjee. They went a bit nostalgic talking about old times, when they used to smoke beedis.
Next was the turn of Ismail darbar of Yalgaar Gharaana. His friend was none other than the very able director Sanjay Bhansaali. He talked about how he met Ismail darbar for the first time, carrying his violin on his shoulder. He always thought that he was a bit eccentric and rowdy. Ismail agreed that whatever he was today was cause of Sanjay and as far he is concerned, Sanjay is God send. Sweet.
Last Vishal and Shekhar of Hit ¡V it . Arguably the funniest of the lot was when Vishals friend Sujay Ghosh showed a movie clip in which vishal sees a gal and falls down unconscious (Yes gals, vishal has acted in a movie and no, I do not know the name of the movie). And as Sujay said vishal is a wonderful actor, who doent know the ABCD of acting. We have already met Shekhars friend Shiraz from the band Pentagram. Though not funny as vishals, he related another incident when Shekhar was performing and he fell flat (abt 6 ft) from the stage. Shekhar said that whatever he becomes or not becomes, pentagram will always remain a part of him. That¡¦s called know your roots man.
Anyway onto the performances. First family on stage Rock consisting of Aneek, Joy and Mussarat
Aneek went first. I missed his friends name but he asked for the title song of the movie Saathiya. Fardeen thought that this was a good performance.
Bappida ¡V 7/10
Ismail - 9/10
Hit ¡V it - 8/10
Fardeen then told him that if he has any hand, he would have given him 10/10.
Though Aneek has a powerful, flexible voice, this performance was not impressive. He is fast loosing his touch and I feel his memorable performances will be going out of peoples mind pretty soon.

Next up was Joy. His friend Anjum came on stage and asked him to sing Roobaroo from the movie Rang de basanti. Fardeen said that he felt that Joy started off good but somewhere in middle he lost the feel of his song.
Hit ¡V it - 7/10 ¡V They also asked him to concentrate on his sur.
Ismail - 9/10
Bappida - Srry I missed that ƒ¼
I disagree with everyone. I felt that joy never sang the song well at any stages. The scores given to him was very generous. And I want to see this guy go now.

Last from rock Mussarat. He had a call from his friend Faras. He asked him to sing Ek pal chain na. Fardeen said that he thought that he was hearing a professional singer performing when he heard Mussarat.
Bappida ¡V 10/10.

Yalgaar - 10/10
When bappida gave a 10 Himmesh was so happy that he thanked bappida and took his blessing. Any idea why? Himesh also called mussarats voice unconventional yet commercial.
I thought that mussarat was brilliant but lacked in one area. Low notes. And I daresay that Mussarat is taking that one area too lightly.
My score - 9/10
Next gharaana on stage was bappidas newly formed we two our two family. Sumedha and Mauli.
Sumedha went first. Her friend was a cute, chubby gal by the name Gatha who has a habit of chewing gum endlessly. We also got to know that her friends call sumedha billie. Which means cat. To be more specific cutecat or cute kitty or whatever. She requested the song Aao na from the movie Kyun ho gaya na.
Fardeen thought that she had a charmng voice.
Yalgaar ¡V 8/10
Hit it - 8/10
Rock - 9/10
Bappida thought that she has already become a playback singer.
I have to agree with fardeen that she has a very charming voice. Though I felt her that her performance wasn¡¦t quite up there.

Mauli daves friend from US wanted her to sing Shaka laka baby from the movie Nayak. Aditya called fardeen on stage to dance along with Mauli when the public asked for a once more. Bappida also came on stage to congratulate mauli and to make everone remember that he was the one who named her Indian Shakira. (Three weeks in a row that happened). Fardeen gave a ver diplomatic answer on stage that she did a fantastic job by having the right energy for the song.

I feel sick, I mean with all the screaming who wouldn¡¦t feel sick? Atleast Vishal shekhar had the guts to reduce the two marks. Her performance was impressive. Infact everything except the actual singing was very impressive. I am getting real bored by her singing. And she is another one whom I would like to see go. There was a slight show off from Bappida when he sang a few lines in Bengali about Fardeen.

Next up. Yalgaar gharanas Amaanat and Poonam.
Amaanat took the stage first. Shekhar felt that Amaanats last week stint in the thrishanku zone was highly unfair and for that not to happen again he gave a 10 out of 10 even before Amaanats performance. That was a very brave and confident jesture from Shekhar. But I feel that it has done more damage than good, which we can see as the scene unwinds. His friend wanted him to sing Kabhi to nazar milao. He sang and pretty well at that. Fardeen said that he was exceptional.

Shekhar told Amaanat that this was not the best performance of his. And I agree. He sounded shaky. Shekhar also told him that the marks cannot and will not be changed now. What I think is that getting those 10 points put Amaanat under pressure. Also when he said that the marks cannot be changed, it became clear that Shekhar didn¡¦t think it to be a ten out of ten performance. This could go against him.

Then there was some heavy leg pulling of Amaanat by the mentors saying that he is having an affair with someone who has already said no to Aneek. Maulis and Sumedhas face were shown regularly. Himesh signed off the entire incident by saying that he will get to the bottom of this. All in all, though it was a bit funny, I feel that SRGMP is following the II3 way. It has to be said that this did not turn out to be as ugly as the II incident.
Next up was Poonam. Her chubby friend asked her to sing Rang de from the movie Thakshak. People shouted once more. When Aditya tried to avoid that Ismail darbar insisted and then dragged Fardeen on stage with her. And poor Fardeen didn¡¦t have anything to do on stage. He just stood and clapped. Atleast the other song was a dance number. And I felt that it was outrageous. Especially the way Ismail is campaigning for votes to ensure that Poonam wins.
Fardeen thought that she was the best singer till that point.

I felt that it was not her best performance. She sounded rushed throughout the song.

Last family on stage. Harpreet, Raja and Junaid. Hitment from Hit ¡V it.
Harpreet took the stage. It became apparent that he was not feeling well. Though what the problem was, was not made clear. His friend was none other than Sunil kumar who was eliminated earlier in the competition. He asked for the song Chaana ve. I love this song. Fardeen mentioned that it was important to realize that there will always be rough weather in life and one has to sail through it. And that¡¦s what Harpreet did.
There was a once more from the crowd. And Harpreet sang again. Vishal shekhar came on stage and thankfully, Fardeen was not dragged this time. The mentors were there for a reason. Cause Harpreet sang a song even when he was sick. Ismail send his regards and blessings in the form of his shawl.

I felt that the song suited Harpreet very well and he sang it nicely. He reminds me of Karunya of II2. Not his talent, but the way he always lands up in bottom three but claws his way out again.

The ¡§Yummy¡¨ Junaid took the stage. I still am not getting how any person can be yummy. Deepa care to elaborate on that ƒº His friend wanted to hear K.K¡¦s Pal. this is just a lovely song. Seriously K.K was absolutely brilliant in this. And I thought no one could beat him in this song. Man was I wrong¡K¡KFardeen said that he did full justice to the song

The eternal miser Bappida ¡V 8/10
Hit it said that he has to concentrate a bit more in his singing.
As for me I felt that he did a brilliant job. His feel of the song was great. The song seemed to be made for Junaids voice. The only flaw was he missed the words in one place though he covered it up well.

Last contestant. Raja. Bappida gave him a 10 like shekhar before he did anything. I felt that this was outrageous too. I mean Shekhar did that because of a reason, which he explained. What was the need for Bappida to do the same?
Anyways he was asked to sing the song Teri deewani by Kailash kher. Anyone remember Emon chatterji.
Fardeen said that he has another person to be a fan of now. He had the said the same of Mussarat earlier.

Vishal shekhar said that there was something divine in his voice.
During the above mark awarding Himesh said that there were mistakes and loads of them at that. But still he is giving him ten. Ismail asked him to improve on his low notes. Now my doubt is, if the performance had such flaws how come they gave 10 which is usually awarded for flawless singing.
I thought that his voice suited the song better than Emons but I still liked Emons version better. What I felt from Raja was the same I felt with Poonam. Too rushed.

Then Fardeen was asked who was the spark of the day and he said it was Raaja.
Then Fardeen, Himesh, Thulsi and Divya, (Thulsi being the sister of the director of Darling and Divya being his wife) was on stage to release the music of darling.It seems Thulsi is the female lead singer of the title song whereas Himesh is the male counterpart. They sang a couple of lines and it was pretty good. The music was released and free CDs were awarded to everyone present. The last scenes were Fardeen throwing the CDs to everyone present. Funny way to release the CD I say

I found that part funny too, when Ismail dragged Fardeen on stage and for what exactly? Poonam was too occupied with her song, so they just stood beside her and *ahem* kept standing. How embarassing! Well, serves Ismail right from imitating another judge, ha!
You seem to have gotten Vishal and Shekhar mixed up. The video showed Sujoy Ghosh talking about Shekhar not Vishal.
I agree with you completely......I completely mix the two....:-) Even now when i watch them i get confused whos who? And i finally arrived at the fact that the fairs vishal, the bald is shekhar....Seems like i was wrong.....
hey hey, Shekhar is the cutie. Vishal with his shiny scalp just looks like he is about to sock someone--Ajay yaar, how could you confuse a hottie with a gunda?
I will be travelling this friday to sunday....I am not sure whether i will be able to watch the show this week. Can anyone else cover it for me? deepa you there?
Hey, I thought Prakash asked Himesh to get him married off, not Himesh to get married..to which Himesh replied that they need to get Prakash's sister married first...
I am very disappointed with mentors on SAREGAMAPA because without any coments they have been giving 9 and 10 marks. This marks has no meaning at all. Some of these marks are without even listening to their songs. I am begining to loose interest.
Is anybody agree with me?
I COMPLETELY agree what you have to say for Mauli. I too am of the same opinion that she like a cabret singer just makes those raunchy expressions and attracts votes. As far as her singing qualioty is concerned , after maiyya maiya she hasnt evn given one good performance.She sings at the same high pitch which is pinching to the ears, and has no gyaan of sur and taal...I think even the mentors enjoy her stage singer attitude and campaign for her..The other girls are much much better and Mauli should go asap...
