SRGMP 07-Votes are in and the eliminated contestant is .....

First of all lemme say that I am really sorry about last week. As I said I was traveling and was back in town only on Sunday. Another regret is the fact that I missed the performance of Mauli dave this Friday.

Onto the show.

I missed the first part of the show. Anyway from what I saw there was a slight change in the format. The contestants were called on stage and asked to perform before the results were announced. I thought “Hey good. At least the thrishankus won’t be that nervous while singing.” I hoped that they would continue. But I think I am wrong. The why of it will be seen as we go along. Onto the performances.

First of all Mauli and Sumedha were called on stage. Whoever follows the show would know by now that they belong to Bappidas Josh Gharana. As I mentioned earlier I missed Maulis performance. Sumedha sang It’s the time to disco from Kal ho na ho. She sang the song with a bit of spunk and it was definitely enjoyable and she still looks beautiful (sigh). Also we were showed a segment where Sumedha went home last week. Loads of people were shown, loads of prizes which she had received for singing were shown, her old classroom were shown and so on…….(Yawn).
Bappida said that he was very happy with their singing. Both of them were declared safe.

Next for the acid test. The only Gharana with three members. Raja, Junaid and Harpreet of Vishal Shekhars Hit it Gharana.

Harpreet took the stage with Sone de Nakhre from the movie Partner. This is a fun filled song and Harpreet almost got everything right. I have been noticing that of late Harpreet has been choosing songs with a Punjabi flavour.
Junaid tried his hand at the title song of Kaal. It was a song of his style. It suited his usual energetic presence on stage. But he was a big disappointment. A pretty average performance. He tried including the English verses into the song which really worked against him.
Raja gave his version of Chinnama Tilakamma from the movie Meenaxi. Frankly I was a bit disappointed with this performance too. He did not sing it badly by any counts but it was not a WOW performance.Mauli and Sumedha were seen lip syncing along the telugu lines.

Shekhar said that Harpreet is a good singer and a great performer. He felt that Junaid missed his mukhda but got back on track from the Antara. He also asked Raja not to write down the words in his hand. Vishal asked Raja to be versatile and to try other songs sung by different singers and not just Nusrat fateh ali khan and Sukhwinder singh. He strictly told Junaid to behave like he owns the stage and not to look so depressed. (That’s the first hint that there was something wrong though I missed it entirely). There was another segment where Raja went home and those who watched II2 should have had memories of Sandeep Acharyas home visit. Loads of people, drums, dancing and Fireworks.

Anyways Raja and Harpreet was declared safe but Junaid became the first Thrishanku. Raja retained his number one spot at the top of the table. Harpreet seems to be shades addicted and Vishal Shekhar let slip that they were doing an album with Junaid (Wow)

Next up Mussarat and Aneek of Himmeshs Rock Gharana.
Mussarat sang the song Chakna from the movie Namastey London. I have one word to describe the song and the performance. Horrible. Maybe it wasn’t that bad but I felt so. He went high unnecessarily and he sounded breathless.

Aneek tried his luck with the title track of Shaka lakka Boom Boom. I have to say that Aneek tried his best to do what he could do with this song and frankly there wasn’t much interesting in it.

Himesh came out and confided in the audience that he himself had sung this song and no contestant can sing his songs (Hows that?). He gave his reasons too. His tonal quality and so and so and so………He asked the public to keep in mind this while voting. Aneek was declared safe while Mussarat became the second Thrishanku. It was also let known by Aditya that Aneek is in the no. 2 spot as far as votes go and his difference with Raja is a mere 500 Votes. I am a firm believer of the fact that the show must be consistent with what they say. The week before last it was the top spot along with max number of international votes. Cmmon guys give the details regarding the same stuff will ya?

Anyway Ismail Darbars sweet two Poonam and Amaanat of Yalgaar took the stage next. Poonam went with Khallas from the movie Company. It was an average performance. There was no feel in the song. If Mauli can sing only item songs then I can say for sure that Poonam cannot sing item songs. She cant touch the soul of the song. We have repeatedly said that the talent of SRGMP is much much higher than that of II3. But whenever any two contestants have sung the same song I preferred the II contestants performance. I wonder why?

Last but definitely not the least Amaanat took stage with Sonu Nigams Bijuria. He sang well but it was nowhere near Emons performance.
Poonam was declared safe while Amaanat became the third Thrishanku.

The three Pakistani singers were thrishanku and that too after 15th august performances. Too big a co incidence? Anyway Ismail darbar opened the can of worms pretty soon by asking whether these guys refused to sing Indian Independence songs last weeks. Apparently there has been words floating around that these contestants refused to sing such songs. They hurriedly explained that they have never done any such thing. They went on giving reasons why it wasn’t so. Junaid sounded so sincere when he said that “Do din se ghar ke bahut yaad aa rahe hain” that my heart almost broke. He had said initially that he never felt that they have come to another country and that they had not missed their family before two days. Some of the other contestants were literally crying a river. Raja and Poonam the most noticable. The show on Friday ended with these scenes and with no idea who was eliminated?

To keep the continuity I will explain what happened Saturday beginning. After revisitng the earlier said scenes the question was hanging in the air about who will get eliminated? Then we had a string of audience saying that this is not true and India has a big heart and none of them should be eliminated. So based on the Indian public (Yea rt) wishes there was no eliminations and next week the votes received this week and last week will be taken into account for eliminations. Aditya also explained that it was the creative heads of SRGMP that came up with the idea that Pak contestants and Indian contestants will sing their respective country independence songs and not the contestants.

My take. Usually I would have blasted for wasting so much time and helping one eliminated contestant escape unhurt. I would have cribbed about how its not fair on other contestants. But for this one time I wont. The issue addressed was serious. The Pak India issue is one sensitive issue and it was addressed in the right manner too. Probably these three were not the correct thrishanku . Since there was the news floating around and it had to be addressed these three were made the thrishanku and hence they could not be eliminated. The set up could have been staged a bit better. The crying of the contestants were fake and you could easily identify it. Raja did a good job of acting and he looked sincere when he was happy (when it was announced that there will be no eliminations) but the others were just a flop show. None of them make good actors. the fact that it was pre planned was obvious and i honestly think that this time it was not aimed at raising the TRP's. And i am with the contestants on this. if they had such a narrow thinking about India and Pak then they wouldnt be here. Thats what my brain say. And please, whoever is behind this dont even think up such matters. Ordinary people dont have time for this. Atleast i dont have such time on my hands........ ohhh

Away from that i have two observations to make
1) Aditya with his new Hairstyle reminded me of a chicken. honestly he did
2) After a long period we see the re entry of the horrible dancers in the background and they did live up to the expectation and was horrible.

	This show is pure rubbish. They just create stories for TRP. They made the fact that 3 Pakistanis were in TRISHANKU as serious as India Pakistan war. Grow up guys. Send this programme to the Recycle Bin
