Kanye wins battle with nearly 1 million sales

Kanye West easily beat 50 Cent in the rappers' album feud this week. Kanye's "Stronger" sold just a spit shy of 1 million copies, coming in at number one with 957,000 units sold. 50 Cent's album "Curtis" was no slouch in the sales department though, selling 691,000 units. As expected, Kenny Chesney took the number three spot.  The double punch provided by "Graduation" and "Curtis" also marks just the second time in this era that two albums have bowed in the same week with totals surpassing 600,000 copies.
The last such occasion was in September 1991, when Guns N' Roses' "Use Your Illusion II" led The Billboard 200 with 770,000 copies in the same week that the band's companion album "Use Your Illusion I" bowed at No. 2 with 685,000. 
Kanye also has the honor of having the best week yet by a digital album download with a record 133,000 units sold. The record had been held by Maroon 5 with their album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long."
Now, we just have to wait for 50 Cent's retirement announcement, though I still say that his album sales are nothing to sneeze at. He should be proud of his album doing so well.
