About Our **FREE** Counters!

First of all, what's a counter? A counter is a device for indicating a number or amount. In this case, it counts how many times someone has been to a specific website/webpage/profile.

If you have a webpage or a website or a profile online somewhere and you want to know how many people have looked at it, then you need a counter. And if you have to have a counter, why not have one of some artist you like!

First of all, you'll need a curlio.com account. Accounts are free, and we do not spam. We hate spam. We get loads of it. We would never subject anyone else to it either. After you've got your account, you can create 5 different counters (that number might go up if demand goes up).

Creating a counter

To create a counter, go into accounts and then select my counters.

Click "new counter".

Give your counter a name so that you can differentiate between your counters. Then select whether you want have the pageviews or the vistors displayed. You can edit that later if you wish to change it. (you can read, at the bottom of this page, about the difference between visitors and pageviews!)

Click on "Submit"

Now you will see that you have a counter created.

Click "assign pictures" in order to pick which pictures you want your counter to display.

You can choose as many pictures as you'd like. Simply browse through the categories and subcategories and check which ones you want, then click submit.

Click on "Code"

You will find the code to copy and paste onto your webpage so that you can begin using your counter.

If you want to change something on your current counters, go to "my counters".

If you click "edit" you will see which pictures you have selected, several statistics, and you can change between pageviews and visitors.

If you want to delete a picture, simply go to the edit for that counter, deselect that picture, and submit.

In case you are fed up with our counters (why would you be?) you can also decide to delete your counter completely.

Click on "Delete"

Now you will have to manually enter the ID of your counter. Then click submit, If you typed it correctly the counter will be deleted from our site, with all statistics information aswell!
Be warned: we can not retrieve your counter back after you have deleted it!

General Information:

Just in case you're wondering what the difference is between pageviews and visitors, I'll explain that. If you select pageviews, you will see how many times the page has been seen in total. If you select visitors, you will see how many different people have been to your website. For example if view a specific article on curlio.com, you are 1 visitor, with 1 pageview. If you refresh that page, you are still only 1 visitor, but with 2 pageviews. If you leave curlio.com (though we don't know why you'd do that... food is the only reason we can come up with for leaving curlio.com) for 20 minutes or more (why would you leave our beautiful site for more than 20 minutes!!??), and then come back (about darn time!), you are 2 visitors, with 3 pageviews. Does that make sense now?
