When somebody auditions on American Idol and is rejected, you would think that is the last you'll ever hear of them again. That however is not how it works for William Hung. Everybody remembers Hung's awful/humorous performance of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" during the AI auditions in San Francisco. Hung however (unlike the other "losers") has made appearances on TV shows, radio shows, has been offered a record deal, and may possibly be releasing a mini-album.
Betting that Hung, this season's biggest American Idol loser, has a few more media cycles in him, Juris' Fuse network joined with Koch Entertainment this week to offer the 20-year-old college student a $25,000 recording-slash-music video contract.
If all goes according to plan, Hung will sign by next week; the album--more like a five- or six-song mini-album--will be on sale three weeks after that.
William Hung also has his own online fan club, which has around 600 members.
I guess we'll have to see how well Hung's mini-album sells (if released) and how popular he really has become. As the article says, you don't need incredible vocal skills to be an entertainer.
He probably took the cash since he's in college (and that can get expensive) however I feel the same as you do about him saying "there is a difference between fame and infamy" and taking the cash. But oh well lol
Sometimes I don't know if I should feel happy or sad for Hung. I mean, he's been turned into a giant joke. Sometimes I feel a little sorry for him. However he doesn't seem to mind, so I guess I'll just be happy for him.
They're trying to ruin him by giving him singing lessons. Why don't they save the singing lessons for people that actually need it... like Britney Spears?
Smart thing William is doing, he's not truly sure if he wants to sign or not.
I think they're also going to overdue the whole William thing. I mean, they'll probably make an "actual" dance for him, have him "sing" a certain way, etc. It was funny at first, however I feel his "performance" will be ruined and over processed.
Jeremy! AHH I was listening to KDWB this morning *popular radio station here* and they were interviewing him! He sang Shake your bon bon for them, then sang she bangs. He also said he's had tons of offers for record deals. LMAO I guess they really do mean it when they say "I'm gonna get a record deal and make them sorry!"
The radio station I listen to has also had him on there (95.5) and he did "She Bangs" lol. I haven't heard him do "Shake Your Bon Bon" yet lol! However I'm sure we all will eventually.
I saw him on Ellen last week. It was great! He doesn't care that he's not great. And some people may be making fun of him, but a lot of him admire his spirit and his attitude, that he gave his best and that he has no regrets. That's to be applauded. I mean, he could've come right back at Simon with some rude comment, but he didn't. He's just such a sweet, adorable little guy. :)
I saw William Hung on Ryan Seacrest' show, and I believe some other show. I dunno, but he's making his rounds! I do wonder what Simon has been thinking about all of it though... I'm sure we'll eventually hear
Simon commented about William Hung the other day on out local Fox 8 news channel. He said he was "vaguely amused that people want to give him money" :P
