After being voted off American Idol last month, John Stevens returned back to his High School last Friday.
Stevens, 16, looked slightly embarrassed as Williamsville East High School principal Neal Miller declared Friday "John Stevens Day" in front of 1,000 students at an assembly.
Stevens is still hoping to get a record deal, however has so far received zero offers. So far, he's only done some singing at weddings and other local events since being voted off the show.
I hope he doesn't receive a record deal ever. I just can't stand the kid when he sings.
That's the great thing about record deals, they get signed, they make a CD, you don't buy their CD :)
No-one buys their CD, contract will be terminated and the person will have no record contract anymore and no-one will be able to buy their record anymore.
I am a bit suprised that he didn't get a contract...Just because there SEEMED to be people supporting him. Even an ill-recorded demo would probably have sold a couple thousand copies and paid for the producers rent for a month perhaps? Maybe not.
I suspect in the long run...they all knew he was fromage (cheese).
I wonder if he regrets going on the show (I know I would be pretty embarrased if I were him)...I am SURE he is going to reap some benefits.
Hey: Can I suggest we start another discussion(perhaps in another board on this site) "off topic" about Survivor and the LAME *"Amber and Rob love-fest" tonight? I am still suffering from the dry heaves! And note that Survivor is getting into the "voting" fever now too? You get to vote for the next WEEK as many times as you like (online - which means international votes, eh?-and text) for the person you think deserves to win another million! Sounds a little "American Idol" to me....
Sorry to ram that in this post...I was just sooo turned off by the GRATUITOUS Rob/Amber focus on the finale.
Are we still stuck on "I hate John Stevens"? Seems like time and energy could be better spent since he has already been voted off AI.
As far as I'm concerned, this 16 year old handled himself with a great deal of class and character. And while he had no control over the voting, he was unfairly blamed for Jennifer Hudson's early departure.
The week he was voted off, he received over 4 million votes. While they didn't announce the total vote count last week (a good indiction that it was probably low), I wonder if any of the five remaining contestents received anywhere near 4 million votes?
There's an old saying in show business that there's no such thing as bad publicity. Those who loved to hate John Stevens insured that he would receive more than his share of publicity.
The point is, I think, that it's time to move on. Whether he receives any kind of record deal is moot. As previously stated, you don't have to buy what you don't want.
danp727:
Being that the title of the post was about John Stevens, I think we are "allowed" to discuss him, no? In the future, if you find these kinds of posts offensive (anti-John, that is) here's my suggestion to you: DONT READ THEM.
Just sitting back and waiting for record deals don't cut it. Even people on AI need to work to get record deals. People (and also JS) can't expect to get everything thrown into their laps.
im with danp 727.... but then as i've always said in previous post... JOHNS STEVENS ROCKS! To me he is awesome, and thats my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Man, his rendition of Lately still has me in tears...
Cheers people!
Good Luck John, hope you make it big. I'll be the first to get your CD if one comes out....
John Stevens isn't a singer; he's a Frank Sinatra impersonator. He has such a quiet, mousey voice that he can't even pull off his favorite genre properly. I suspect he's done too much singing in groups (his profile showed him singing with the school choir) to do well as an individual. He seems comfortable being in the background.
It would be funny if JS didn't get a CD while even William Hung did....
i would never give john stevens a record deal.he just
cant sing and the only reason he thinks he can is because he grand parents probobly told him he sounded
like Frank Sinatra. He has tried to sound like him but
he cant even stay on pitch.has he ever even listened
to pop or rock or at least anything different that frank sinatra.he is a 60 year old in a teen age body.he couldnt
help it that he was on there for so long but who on earth was voting for him?
Why would someone hope john doesn't get a record deal? If you don't like it don't listen to it.
Go waste your time listening to J-lo, and leave the real music to us grow ups with taste
american idol john stevens is a young michael buble'. i think people are jealous. they know full and well that john stevens voice flows like satin. he has a silky smooth voice. john stevens should continue to presue a career in what he obviously was put on this earth to do. his talent is overwhelming to the musically-conscience. even to this day he remains my american idol.
