Last night the remaining four contestants opened the show with a jazzy medley of "Get Happy", "Someone to Watch Over Me", "A Kiss to Build a Dream Upon" and "You're Nobody 'Till Somebody Loves You" backed by a twenty piece orchestra lead by Orin Isaacs. Despite the fact that the Canadian Hockey team was playing Slovackia Canadian Idol still managed to have a record 2.5 million viewers tuning in.
When you get down to four contestants it is very difficult to see someone leave and despite the fact that we are down to this number I think any of the contestants around until now will do well in their pursuing a musical career.
Crooner Matt Dusk who was seen on Casino this year took to the stage and performed two songs. He was the winner of a rising star talent at the CNE in 1998 and the songs he sang were from his new CD.
John Dorn announced last night that Margaret-Anne Kern 18 and Marvin Poon 21 were the winners of the show earlier in the week "The Best and Worst of Canadian Idol for their singing of "Almost Paradise". They will receive two free airline tickets to the final show on September 16th.
In the last part of the program the contestants with the lowest number of votes were Theresa Sokyrka and Jason Greeley. Following their singing of the songs they performed the night before it was announced that the latest contestant to leave would be Jason Greeley.
Next week the remaining three contestants will appear at the Canadian Beachfest which is the largest outdoor concert in Canada. The show next week the contestants will choose songs that show their talent and challenge them.
A guest appearance by Audrey de Montigny who was the 2003 Idol finalist will be on next weeks show.
Now we are down to three it is going to be very difficult and nerve-wracking for everyone concerned. These contestants are good and need their best showing to make it to the final program.
I would like everyone in Saskatchewan to do their best next week to keep Theresa in the top two. If this means just staying up a couple hours exta and logging in as many calls as possible then please do it. Theresa deserves to be named our Canadian Idol. Let's keep her in the hunt Canada.....!!!!!
Theresa keep it up girl.
I'm sad to see Jason go. He was a real gentleman with lots of class. I have no doubt that this is just the beginning for him. Good luck, Jason. Your fans love you.
I feel that the Canadian Idol competition is based more on demographics then on talent... I also think that there should be an opportunity for on line voting. I have tried numerous times to cast my vote only to face the busy signal time and time again!! Get with it CI and let the vote go on line to!
Jason should still be competing on CI. He should've won. Theresa should have gotten the boot. She has a good voice but she is sooooo boring to listen to. Jason is an entertainer and I hope that this is just the beginning for him.
